Big Nurgle Thingies

So tonight in our final Film of the Harry Potterthon I managed to get some work done on these fine fellows…

They still have a fair bit to go but I am getting there.

I would have got further but this happened!

I would go as far as saying that I might have uttered the odd expletive or thirty. Although evidently I am a pillock, a numpty and no doubt a knob head for not putting the pot in the holder I printed at least I am a stingy one and managed to get a fair bit back in the pot.

The printer was busy again…

Meeple orks to go with the goblins… as can be seen not all of them came out perfectly.

I also printed some stairs and a few doors…

Again there was something up with these prints…

As can be seen there was a load of stringing.

I haven’t used this colour PLA before, it is the same manufacturer, but perhaps the temperature tolerance is different. Either that or there could be some extrusion issues, the bed might be the wrong height or a whole host of other reasons that need checking out. Once the new build plates arrive then I can see what is what a bit easier.

Got mates coming round to see the new year in tomorrow, so if I don’t get to wish you all a happy New Year, then please accept it now. I wish you all Health, Wealth and happiness for 2020 when it arrives…

Nurgle Thingumybobs

So today I have had the chance to get these painted during this evening’s Harry Potterthon (tonight was Deathly Hallows part 1).

Now to be honest I haven’t got a clue about Chaos Forces in 40k. These Pox walkers came in my Son’s Christmas Present.

We made a start on the Space Marines using the colours he chose…

This set has six marines, six pox walkers and three Nurgle marines.

Regarding the painted troops, I am really pleased with how they turned out. I have never painted anything like these before. I reckon my rusty metal needs a bit more work but apart from that they weren’t too bad to paint. I suppose the trickiest one was the one with the elephant trunk and axe as he has straps going across his chest and shoulders as well as his waist.

Tomorrow I will help him carry on with the marines. Funnily enough, I have all of these miniatures from when they did the Conquest magazine. In fact I have two or three lots of Death Guard and two or three of the Primaris marines.

Meeples and a Broken Printer

So no painting or Harry Pottering today as my Sister in law visited. But my printer was busy…

Meeple Goblins!

As these were a success, I decided on some dungeon corridors…

Sadly, I think the printer bed has eventually given up the ghost. You can see the residue on the photo above, but the whole centre section is shot…

The pale bits are filament that won’t come off.

I reckon I will be able to print smaller bits around the edge, but the middle is a no go area. I reckon over time the plate has thinned here which is why my raft was super thin as opposed to what I am used to. The corridors have a slight bulge, they were Printed on their edge, hence the need for the raft,the bow was on the bottom. Against the raft.

I have ordered another 4. I could go for glass, but I know how these work.

I will print out my meeple orks tomorrow.

Harry, Won-Won and the Death Eaters

So tonight we carried on with our family Harry Potterthon. Tonight was the Half Blood Prince. So I thought I might as well get Harry and Ron painted.

So that is the three friends done apart from a varnish and the bases sorted.

I also finished off the Death Eaters for my eldest.

My youngest has decided on Black Space Marines.. I showed him the Black Templars, which he liked. He has decided to have gold edging on the shoulder guards and a different coloured cross. I was about to get All ‘oh no, chapter approved’ nonsense and I thought Bollocks he could paint them pink if he wants. He is nine and he can go with whatever he fancies.

Ho loves Mec’s. It suddenly dawned on me that Tau would have given him a pile of ‘mec’ options in the Crisis suits.

Tomorrow we are onto the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Who knows what I will paint during that.

Christmas Haul

So Mr Beardy was good to me this year I must have been somewhere on his good list. I was luck to get £60 in cash as well as a couple of books. Two of my kids and I went thirds on a VR system for the console. My wife asked if I had checked to see if it was all there, I hadn’t but told her it would be fine…evidently it wasn’t! It had none of the cables including the power cable and then none of the download codes for any of the games. Luckily the kids were fine about it. I however was a whining brat!

The other thing we as a family got was a new game…

I haven’t really had a chance to read the rules yet but it has some really nice miniatures…

Mounted warriors flying on birds as well as foot warriors…

The foot mice are all unipose, the rats basically are too apart from one of them. These are really soft plastic a bit like Reaper Bones. I don’t think I will bother painting them as I don’t know how they will stand up to being used.

Other things I am going to have to help with are this lot….

As well as help finishing off the miniatures from the Harry Potter game already started (I am instructed to paint Harry and Ron) and then help with these three…

All in all, a lot of painting is going to take place, I might get to paint something of mine too!

I can’t really complain too loudly as I helped Santa choose them for the kids.

Still trying to decide how and on what to spend my pennies on… part of my thinks Kill Team or possibly Necromunda. On the fantasy side more stuff for Beastgrave or possibly start saving it up for a resin printer 😂😂😂

Happy Christmas… Hussars all Finished

So Mr Beardy came today and I got some nice gifts, but as a family we have been carrying on with our Harry Potter marathon, just watched the fourth film, however it did give me time to get the Hussars finished.

I am really pleased with how these came out colour wise. Totally inaccurate both historically as well as canon in the world of Valon. However I am not really too fussed as I have decided upon the uniforms as C in C of my forces 😉.

This means I am down to the Ostarian artillery and crews to get done for my Flintloque Forces (come to think of it I might have some Cuirassiers to do too). If I have both then I have a dozen miniatures to do (well that is until I buy some more – really interested in Kitton 😍)

Artillery and some of the crew are below… I will have to decide upon the uniform colour for this lot.

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and look forward to seeing what people got 😉.

Luckily I got some cash as I had a bit of a crisis with my print plate on the printer. The print failed and has left a nasty residue that is about 0.2mm high and is an absolute swine to get off. It might be the case that I need a new plate if I scratch this one too much.

Hussars… Pipped at the Post

I tried to get these finished tonight… I got so close, but didn’t make it…

Saddle chain, bridle metalwork and the bases to do.

Although not finished, I am really pleased with these. They look how I wanted them to look.

I now have a Mammoth wrapping session to get through before bed. Two of the kids are getting miniatures tomorrow. My youngest is getting some Games Wotkshop Space Marines and my eldest is getting some more miniatures for her Harry Potter game.

So with Christmas Eve soon drawing to a close, I thought I had better check on the location of Mr Beardy…

20p Paintbrush

So, if you remember a month ago I got a pile of brushes from Wish and said I would give them a go.

So since then I have painted the following…

Since this picture was taken the base edges have been painted black.

To be fair, in the above photo it was mainly Hermione and bits and pieces on the Death Eaters.

Six horses have been done, along with the riders

Not to forget all of the fine details and handles on the advent calendar.

So it isn’t only a couple of figures and this is where we got to with the brush…

Not sure why it has a bend, but it is still useable, and to be honest a lot of my brushes end up like this. On the up side it does make going into tight spaces easier as I don’t have the brush handle blocking the view.

I reckon that my 20p was worth it.

So as it is Christmas Eve and I have all the presents to wrap so I might not get another post in before tomorrow.

I therefore want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and I hope Mr Beardy has you on his nice list..

Hussars in time for Christmas?

Tonight I really had a chance to get some stuff painted so I pushed on and got a fair bit done…

Really only the pennants and facial features to do on the riders. Still a fair bit to do on the horses, but again they are getting there.

Hopefully I should get them finished tomorrow night.

Today was a rare one up here…

A completely still day.

I did take a few more photos, but somehow I managed to take a photograph of my feet and my elbow! Looks like the phone’s camera takes a while to operate after I pressed the button.

Tomorrow is meant to be showers with some more wind. Christmas Day is meant to be like today, so hopefully a chance to get some more photos then.

Hussars…Getting There

Today has been super busy, lots of running about and very little Christmas related.

But tonight before butchering various beasties on Hunter ‘Call of the Wild’ I managed to get some painting done.

Still a fair old bit of work to do, but the majority of painting on the riders is done (really just hands, weapons and cockade to do). Bridles, saddles and hooves etc for the horses. I think I am going to add some Greenstuff to the saddle to help bed the riders in properly.

Tomorrow is going to involve loads more running about so hopefully I will get the chance to get some more done on these. It would be good to get them all done by Christmas Day.

Regarding this, in case some of you reading this are disappearing for a while. I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
