Forgotten Forces Friday

This evening one of the lads at the club mentioned his pirate miniatures, we got chatting about out FIW project that never got off the ground. He put a photo up of his painted British Forces…

A nice little skirmish force

So I thought I would see what I had and what I still had to do… I do wonder about my common sense I really do… so this is my French force…

In the bag are 30 woodland tribes miniatures and Canadian militia and then I have another 30 painted Indian Forces too…so what do I do… think oooh I need some cavalry and possibly some Grenadiers…

I am seriously losing the plot… I really am!

Anyway the rules I fancy having a go with are these ones I bought a good while ago now.

Another Lazy Night!

Well the ol’ mojo has certainly fled the scene over the last few days, probably due to work related shenanigans as well as being ill last week, my kids are still not back to school full time as they are wrecked, me too!

So I have one more day at work and then two weeks of Freedom!!! Not that I am counting 😂.

Yesterday I found my Jimi Hendrix CD’s so put them in the car.On the way home from work I was singing along to them and ‘All Along the Watchtower’ came on. So that reminded me of Tour of Duty with the track playing as the helicopter hovered over the squad (which was removed when it went to DVD… Boooo! So when I got home I had a bit of a mooch… this was not a good idea….

We played a campaign using Tour of Darkness, but just avoided the weird wars stuff. So guess where I want to go back to now 🥴🙄🙄🙄. I still have the Pinnacle cardboard troops around somewhere so I could easily get going with very little outlay…. yeah right!

‘‘Twas a nice run home this evening with the sun going down over the Voe…

A Quasi Night Off

So, this evening I decided to paint something and set to work, the problem was that I really couldn’t be bothered…

As you can see, there is still an awful lot of white visible, but at least some form of progress has been made. I am not using the GW paint schemes on these and will choose colours that I fancy. I also stuck the wraiths to their bases…

The most important part of the photo are the 6mm Japanese town gates. I have turned the house and shed upside down looking for them. I opened my paint box and there they were. I have only opened that box and rootled through it dozens of times. I though that I must have put them in with one of the castles that went to new homes.

Two more days to go before I am on leave. This is just a short term, so I get a bit of a break, during which I have a list of jobs as long as my arm 🥴.

A Night Off

Yes, the lazy sod that I am, I decided to do nothing tonight. Okay that is not exactly true, I washed the dishes and made dinner (a very nice cottage pie). I then considered painting something when my middle child decided that then was a good time to ask fir help with her maths homework. After that quite frankly I couldn’t be bothered, so me being me started to mooch about and came across Museum Miniatures. Now I cannot actually remember when I got my last Army from them, it actually went the journey before I moved to Shetland.

So anyway Crusader Kingdoms is out for Lion Rampant, so me being me started looking at 15mm Crusader miniatures… you will be pleased to know that I actually resisted the urge to purchase any, however I was extremely tempted by the new range of ancient Greeks…

I then played Fallout 4 on the console….

I did take a nice photo on the way to work (well it looked better in reality than what my iPad could cope with…

Printing not Painting

I had a parent council meeting this evening so didn’t leave work until 20.50 so needless to say I am a bit pooped and seriously could not be bothered to do anything. I did rescue some miniatures of the print bed and cure them and the ones from this morning…

So here we have four of the Nazgul in their human form…

The one with the spear has a bit of a curl on the bottom of the shield as well as a bit of a bend on the end of the spear. I am not sure why this has happened, a similar thing happened to the Hero Forge shield too…

Well actually, the bottom of the shields were missing in both of the miniatures above.

Some More on the Fellowship

I managed to get a bit more done on the Fellowship. Pretty much finished Gandalf and Boromir and made a start on Legolas and the Bree Guard.

As you can see I managed to get a bit more done on the cat too.

I spent some of this evening slicing some more miniatures. This month’s Patreon reward is the attack on Weathertop. With Aragorn wielding his two torches and a number of Nazgul, these are seen in their ‘human’ form as opposed to their black cloaks. I am doing the dismounted version of the one I reprinted the other day.

The first two should be ready tomorrow morning.

One of the two I am printing

Starting in the Fellowship

Today I managed to get the fellowship and Bree chaps sprayed and the. This evening I made a start. I decided to go with Gandalf first as he was a pretty easy colour choice, but me being me just had to start with others too…

I nearly finished Gandalf, the dogs are getting close too, but there is still a fair old way to go on Boromir. The wargames club has a competition again this year so my Fellowship (plus extras) will probably go in there.

The other thing I did was to mooch around and find some undead for a Mordheim warband…

Now I also have enough plastics to make a human warband or two. I also found a priest of Sigmar which was originally purchased for the game. Terrain will be a bit of a problem straight off, but I do have some cardboard buildings that I made for Frostgrave, not to mention some MDF ruins too.

My little boy has just got me back into Fallout 4. So if he is interested then I might actually buy the board game and see if he is interested.

More Fellowship Characters

Tonight I had to get my daughter from town and then we have got a new family member who needed rescuing from the rest of the family (more later) but I did manage to get two lots of miniatures cleaned up and glued to their bases.

So we now have the full fellowship as we have Boromir, Merry and Pippin to the leftR, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli to the right… and of course another couple of cats😂…

So today was the annual pony sale and we ended up with a new one. It was intentional, and not an accidental thing. So he is a little colt of only 6 months old and is rather cute…

Things went really well at the start as you can see, however he must have done something daft as the rest of the evening the other two chased him round the field. He eventually started to be allowed to get closer and he was by then giving all of the right signals so here’s hoping that tomorrow will be a better day for him.

He is Muness Magnum (from Unst) but he was called a small bean and the name Bean has stuck.. so we now have a colt called Bean.

Another Slow Evening

This evening I got nothing done, apart from some more slicing of the fellowship and the cleaning up of the dark rider from yesterday.

Regarding him, this updated print is complete, I was going to spend ages make a rein and had for some plastic rod bent and glued on, but to be honest I was going to struggle to get it done as well as I would like and then I would dislike the miniature 🥴

The other miniature is my vampire from Mordheim. If I remember correctly he was a Blood Dragon. I went for my own Warband than the ready made one that they sold at the time. I purchased the necromancer and dregs separately and made up my zombies out of the plastic sprues. I will take some photos tomorrow. To be honest the metal miniatures really need an update so I might give them an ISO Bath this weekend to get the paint off them and start fresh.

Now last night I was bemoaning my inability to take any photos of the Northern Lights as I went to bed early. This is one of my ones from last year. The red glow is Mount doom (aka the flare off at Sullom Voe).

This was taken just outside the house, so as you can see I don’t have to travel too far to see them 😉.

A Bit More Printing

Tonight I had a whole load of marking, so didn’t really get as much done as I would have wanted. On the up side my daughter helped out so that speeded things up greatly. Last night I set the printer away to do three miniatures. Gandalf, Frodo and Good ol’ Sam… they have come out rather nicely.

Please ignore the suspicious white powder (my cocaine as the kids are now calling it) it is however baking soda, as I couldn’t be bothered to wait for the superglue to set. I also printed the little cat on the centre base. The other miniatures are the ones I printed a few weeks ago and printed the bases yesterday.

I did start painting my Daimyo and retinue, but forgot to photograph it. And finally I gave an old miniature a right good clean and got the majority of the paint off it. He is one of the GW vampire knights from about 20 years ago. I thought it was time to give home a new paint job, I have considered redoing my Mordheim gangs. I have the rules and a large number of miniatures so was thinking it might actually be fun.

And finally, why is it when you go to bed early then things like this appear!
