Printing Tanks

A Matilda to start with….

A picture of how it came off the plate.

You can really see the support network to help it print properly. I have always printed it vertically before (like the turret). This is the first time on the tracks and to be honest, there is less chance of it getting knocked over, the down side is a lot more waste.

Here you can see the stuff that has been pulled away from both bits…weight wise not really very much, it just adds to the time required.

And finally… here she is all trimmed up and ready for a run into the paint shop.

I am printing off a CharB just now with a Somua to follow.

To be honest I don’t know what theatre of operations or date to go for. At the cost of these I can print of a fair few different ones and see what catches my fancy.

I did consider the desert war. The advantages are that I have some palm trees etc as well as some 6mm buildings. I also have a terrain mat and some desert style hills.

I reckon I can print some 15mm buildings and off I go!

More Dwarves

Well, I finished my first three dwarves and took them outside for a photo shoot…

I then decided to print a couple more to see if I could make them look a bit different.

I think I achieved my goal of changing their look. The beard and fur was made from Greenstuff the plastic bits and bobs are from the original Mordheim plastic sprue.

I added a bit to the back too…

Painting Dwarves

Well I got a bit more paint on the printed dwarves and they are beginning to get there.

I am quite pleased with them so far. Once they are shaded and highlighted a bit more then I think They will look spiffy 😉

I will try and get them finished tomorrow.

I have now found my theme tune (after a crap week at work… well actually make that a fair few months)… please do not listen if you are easily offended. It is very rude!

Friday’s Forgotten Forces

Well another Friday has arrived and it was another freezing cold foray into the shed to depress myself at how much untouched stuff is in there.

Today we have Skelingtons, as my kids used to call them

Command units, cavalry and spears…

Next up missile troops and zombies (and half a chariot)…

And finally the swords…

I must have started on these a year and a half ago at least. I got them as another force to play HOTT with my daughter and they kind of got forgotten about. They are now in the big shed where I do my painting so hopefully they will get finished sometime soon… 🤞

These came from Alternative armies from their 15mm HOT fantasy list.

These have a nice skeletal bagpiper as part of the command group… question is how does he play it without any lungs… to be fair I am being a little trite… I am willing to accept reanimated corpses shuffling about, but not magical bagpipes. It is simply one of those things that niggle me 🤔

Painting Again

I managed a smidge more painting tonight.

I really think I have too much on the go at once…

I spent 5 minutes looking for the Superglue in the middle of the photo!

I would have got further but we had a bit of Dad/daughter quality time shouting at each other when we kept dying in the Lord of the Rings … War in the North 😱

Dressy Up for Grown UPS…

Working with one of the schools on Vikings.

Had a great day, but I am knackered now. I had three one hour long groups. They were great kids who knew a fair bit before I got there. It is really funny though, how they confuse the Up Helly Aa guisers with Vikings. I was chastised by one small boy for not wearing a sheepskin and not having any furry boots 😱.

To save time getting there I drove down in my soft kit 😁

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s off to Work a They Go…

Okay not very original when discussing dwarves.

These three are from Ill Gotten Games from the pre Kick starter tester we were given. I intend to have seven for completeness… well okay maybe not seven…

I decided to do the third one at 0.06mm layer the one on the left is at 0.15, the middle one is 0.1. I forgot to record the time but the highest quality was an hour and 40 minutes. The middle was somewhere round the hour.To be honest for the print time difference between the higher quality and the mid quality there isn’t much real difference. I will fiddle around a bit more to see if I can make it better.

I also painted lots of bits and pieces on various figures. I would have photographed them, but it didn’t seem much point.

The rest of my evening was spent trying to find costume parts for my two youngest for bloody World Book Day!

A Bit More Painting (and Printing)

I managed a smidge of painting this evening…

But guess which silly sod forgot to take any photos!

The one I took was of the Heresy miniatures I started for my mate.

I also got a bit of green onto the Starship Troopers proxies yesterday.

Tonight I got the cockpit painted up too…

The bits I printed were a couple of dwarves from Ill Gotten Games. These are pre release ones open to Patreon’s.

These are printed at different speeds and temperatures. The one on the left is, as can be seen, is the faster, lower quality ones.

Finally my Son is quite impressed by the pile of nets…

What you can’t see is the fact that the bit you can see is about 5 metres tall and twice that long.

3DPrinter… Something Useful

I actually designed and printed something useful at the request of my wife and daughter.

My youngest daughter has her own hens but as the eggs are smaller than the standard size then they fall through the egg rack hence the request…

To be honest not the world’s most complicated design, but I am still quite pleased with it.

It actually fits too…

You can see from the picture above our normal method of keeping them in…

A Fair Old Bit Of Painting

Lots of painting but sadly not the elves….

First up some 15mm German armour, they still need another coat or two, perhaps sand straight over black wasn’t the best idea. I ran the airbrush to get these sorted. Still not sure whether to add camouflage or not.

Then some of the 28mm 3D Printed miniatures

We were all out in the shed and the elves were still in the kitchen and that is my excuse. Just look at the age of the GW paints I am using. The white stuff in the bottle is Matt medium and water.

My mate has asked me to paint up some sci fi miniatures (on the painting tile) for when we start our new top secret game.
