Nothing done this Evening

Yep, I achieved nothing, well if you discount buying more toys…whoops. Well another Kickstarter really. It was £14.00 for a print your own board game, which I thought the kids would like.

My other two kick starters have been successfully funded. So in future look out for a pile of hex tiles and a pile of roads.

The roads cost me £9.00 and as they are STL’s then there is no postage… they are rather nice and I came across them purely by chance.

I did want to get the samurai finished today but I really, really couldn’t be arsed to get off my backside. We had dinner really late and by time I got sorted to paint anything it was already 22.00 so I decided as I was knackered that I would just totally fail at being a predator on The PS4. To be fair I did manage to get some of the fear teams down and I survived each game as the Predators. I just couldn’t get all four of them. It was really, really annoying when people rage quit after I downed them… grrrrrr

Tomorrow I am aiming to get into school early to do the paperwork on who has got Covid and who hasn’t. We found out earlier on this week that even though we don’t work on weekends we still have to put onto the spreadsheet that we don’t work on weekends… never mind. Once I am done there I am finishing at 14.00 as that is my supposed time to finish on a Friday. Then I intend to do sod all, apart form a bit of archery if possible and paint some Samurai.

My daughter found my (pretend) medal today from our Boulogne re-enactment event. Sadly the ribbon bought the journey, but the medal polished up nicely.

Here I am at Boulogne, with some of the other chaps…. I am the one on the right. I am not sure if the medal I am wearing is this one or my Polish campaign one???

Our officer George in the foreground is a descendent of the commanding general of the Polish Lancers.

Just sussed it, it is the Polish one… Two of us are wearing it and we both went to Poland… what a sad little life I lead 😂😂😂😂😂

Printing Pond life

Today I sliced all of the bits to go into the pond. I printed the pond at 100% but all of the flora and fauna at 50%. It made some really small things!

I was surprised at how well the fish and turtles etc came out. To be honest the Lilly pads struggled a bit at 50%

I shoved some of them into the smaller pond too…

I am really chuffed at how well they look. I have actually bought some resin so that I can add ‘water’ to these. It is so long since I have done anything like this it will be interesting to give it a go. I am also going to add some to the paddies and if there is anything left then I can make some canal pieces up too.

I had a print failure today. I started printing some building pieces for my mates birthday and for some reason I had a failed print. One of the end pieces came partially adrift and was threatening spaghetti monster everywhere. Now in hindsight,as it had been just under 2 hours, I could have actually kept it going instead of cancelling the print. The piece hadn’t fully come adrift. I could have done a rescue ‘hold it in place’ rescue so that the rest could have printed…. ah well hindsight is a great thing.

Samurai Foot…Further Work

Tonight I got chatting to a colleague on Teams and didn’t get much time to paint anything really. But I did manage something…

These are over half way there now I would say. Really just the weapons and sashimono and tidying up to do… oh yeah and paint the mon on them too. The command are going to have different colours on their armour as befits their station. This will be added with a white undercoat and various other colours put over the top.

Hopefully I will get this few finished ASAP.

Samurai Foot…Making a Start

Tonight I listened to Alien Earth War stories and painted some Samurai… not exactly the best connection, but it was on Youtube and popped up as I finished watching something else.

I also managed to get some more paint onto the Samurai Infantry.

I also managed to knock off a sashimono… I swore lots. I might just get a little blob of Greenstuff to hold it in place. In hindsight I should have done that for all of them. The ones armed with the hand weapons are going to be red (as you can probably tell from the photo). The bow and command stands are in whatever colour I fancied slapping on them.

After this lot I have 24 left to go and then the army is finished. Yeah okay I have another shit load of the Battle Valour ones to paint and then the Sengoku Monster Hunter ones to paint for my mate, but I am in fact getting there.

To be honest, I didn’t thing I would get anything done for today. I got up and promptly fell back down. I initially thought that I had stood up too quickly. So I stood up slowly and fell back down a second time. After three or four more attempts my brain decided that my body wasn’t having any of it and I was forced to lie back down again. I eventually managed to get it of bed at about 11.30… with a humorous interlude of trying to get into a pair of trousers. Standing on one leg trying to dress is really tricky when you are feeling dizzy.

Luckily it wore off by mid afternoon. And although feeling a bit drained I managed to stay upright for the rest of the day.

Printing a Pond

I decided to do a full sized pond today, but to make it a bit different I took the Teahouse rocks and blended them into the pond in 3D builder.

The 50% one took about an hour and ten minutes. This one took five and three quarters. I did have a bit of printer problems to begin with. First off nothing was printing so I changed the spring on the extruder (well not exactly) I removed my two screws and added the proper bit in. I also re levelled the plate as the front right corner was pretty much out and nothing was printing there at all. So eventually when everything was tip top. I started again and voila, it came out properly.

Where I added the rocks is pretty obvious when I compare the two. I fully intended to stretch one of the axis too, but forgot.

Tomorrow I will print off some reeds and water lilies and possibly a fish or two, but there will definitely be a turtle in there too. These will be done at 50% again so that I don’t have a man sized koi swimming around in the pond.

Today was spent reading stories or rather a story lots of times for a video for the bairns in my nursery. I had an able assistant…

Louis kept messing up and I had to redo it so many times. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Ashigaru Finished

Whilst watching Asterix and the Temple of the Gods I managed to get these finished as well as made a start on one of the command bases.

I could have got more done on the command, but I decided to redo some of the colours on the clothing. Everything being the same colour niggled me. So I changed about 50% of the clothes to a brown or a different colour green.

I shall carry on with the rest of the force tomorrow.

Printing Things

Today I was busy quite a bit, but the printer was a bit busy too!

Free Map tiles from the Kickstarter

I decided to download the free test map tiles from the Kickstarter. There are actually four on their but the fourth didn’t interest me. To be honest the castle doesn’t too, but I decided to give it a go.

These interlock quite nicely and are about 60mm across. I am very excited to get these. I decided against the city tiles, although they are pretty good value at £20. I just felt I didn’t have a need for them.

Other things done today are a pond from 3DAlienworlds. Yes I bought a pond, complete with fish and turtles! I also printed off another wooden fence for the shrine and completed the second of four bits for my daughters mask (the next lot are 20 odd hours to print).

Ooh look… A pond!
Parts of the mask

Ashigaru… Almost Done

I managed to get a bit more done on these tonight. they still have weapons and hands done but they are getting there.

Because I am lazy, all of the clothing is the same colour, but there are two distinct units of three bases each here. Can you spot them? Hopefully I will get them finished tomorrow.

Whilst mooching about in the shed I came across these chaps…

I had totally forgotten that they existed, I got them on the pre order. They came with metal hero miniatures too…

Goblin errr heroes?
Dwarf heroes!

I got these to play Dragon Rampant and never got around to sorting them out! Question is now what do I do with them???

Ashigaru…Making a Start

No printing for me today, but my daughter wants a mask making. Eleven and a half hours in it fell over! Luckily it only had a short time to go so the bit that fell over should be fixable. This thing is in four bits. It is a wolf mask that will be covered in fake fur. Not sure why she wants it, but I am being a nice dad.

So the Ashigaru are getting there slowly. Not much don’t tonight really, but I managed to get the skin done as well as starting on the armour. I am putting lots of different coloured armour on these as they can then be added to any force as well as being a bit more historically accurate .. yeah right because the samurai are in three blocks of three ready for their group armour colour!

I will hopefully crack on with these tomorrow.

On the weather front…It is snowing! Flipping freezing out there. To be fair it is only very light, almost the snow equivalent of mist. Still flipping freezing though!

Putting the Shrine Together

Tonight I finished the last piece of the shrine and decided to glue it all together.

So this is where I got to. Gaps to fill etc, but it is all glued together now. The base bits are all glued together the things on it are just in position.

The next thing to do is to decide whether or not to put a wall around it or put it into some kind of natural terrain. He idea is that the far bit will always be separated to allow for more flexibility. I tried the teahouse on it and it like kind of funky on there.

I do really like this set. It has combined well with the other ones to make something different.

The other thing I did was to print some nobori for the army. I went for a plain pair, a Mori clan pair with a triple mon and a Hokosawa clan pair with a single mon.

They are probably a bit on the large side for the 15mm. The stand certainly makes them look huge. They don’t look too bad next to a figure without the stand.

I never did get anything painted tonight. The glueing of the shrine took longer than I expected.

I hopefully will get onto the Ashigaru tomorrow.
