Painting, Chips and a Pretty Sky

Today my good lady and I decided to just go to the chip shop for dinner. I am really glad we did as it meant we saw the Aurora on the way home, before the clouds rolled in…

The photo is a bit naff as it was taken on my phone, but the green can definitely be seen.

I managed to get some painting done too. A but more on the 6mm Italian Wars and also, as they were right in front if me, the two from the Rohan range…

Night Off…Dad’s Taxi

I had training this evening and then needed to collect my daughter at 19.00, which turned out to be 19.20. They needed to go shopping for new jeans and packed lunch stuff as they are doing their mock exams and for some reason they don’t get to finish in time for lunch.

We didn’t eat until 21.30 so by time we had sorted out then it was too late to start.

Dinky Dudes and a Dog

I suppose a better title would have been 6mm Italian Wars miniatures and a dinocrocuta. I only managed about 20 minutes tonight before my back gave out.

It will teach me to try and move the muck buckets at the stable, they weigh a fair old bit and I needed to get them lifted into the trailer. Not good with a sore back

So here are tonight’s little collection…

To be fair I added a couple of washes on the Dinocrocuta

Bits Missing

Well I have had another night on the sidelines. Back is still buggered and I, technically, am down one tooth. I say technically as I still have it with me… just not I  my gob

The nice dentist gave me it back in a little packet to stick under my pillow… I reckon I should have 50p under there tomorrow.

To be fair it had developed an abcess. I had the temporary fillings replaced in November. The root canal had been started six years ago and through various reasons had never been finished. They did warn me in November that the procedure might not work.

The dentist tonight showed me the xray and it didn’t look to hopeful. She would have given it another go, but said it would probably end up with more pain in the future and would end up having to have it removed at a later date.

As it happens it came out so easily that she dropped it.  It took longer for the numbing stuff to kick in than the extraction.

Back Gone Now!

My weekend improves as somehow I have done my back in. It is causing great hilarity as I yelp when I move. I managed to get onto the floor earlier, but sadly couldn’t get up again. Needless to say I didn’t manage any painting this evening.

I am going to try for an emergency dental appointment tomorrow too. I reckon I rattle now due to the amount of painkillers I have swallowed.

I don’t reckon they will try to keep the tooth this time as it has become loose. It was about 5 years ago when they started on root canal work. Four temporary fillings later I think the tooth, and me, has run out if luck.

Bloody Toothache

My old tooth has decided to flare up again today, I got everything ready to paint things this evening, but I really couldn’t settle so put it all back again.

On the upside, we have eventually got our car back. Now to do a polite battle with Churchill to get them to pay for the hire car.

Kitty Nearly Done

This evening I got some painting done whilst listening to a presentation on the Luftwaffe over Shetland.

I dry brushed the bone on him and repainted the bits where I overbrushed…

I am a lot happier with the bone, but I still have a bit of a dislike for him. Not the model itself, just my painting of him. I really should have used a different colour for the cord holding the armoured plates together. I shall keep on faffing about with him and see where he gets to.

I got a bit more done on the right hand officer as well, but I called it a day after getting the gold done.

Kitty on the Move

I worked on the Sabretooth this evening, he is a bit darker than I wanted, but I will push on and see how I feel about it in a bit…

The bone armour is going to be lighter, but at the minute he is just a pile of browns and tans. I will set to work with dry brushing tomorrow.

I also did a smidge on the officers…

Nice Kitty

This evening I really just faffed about and didn’t get much done apart from the black bits on the officers and the base layer on the sabretooth.

A long way to go, but a start is a start. I am looking forward to doing my tamed smilodon.
