Protective Circle…Making a Start

Well tonight I blasted a bit of paint on the Knight and then lost motivation, so instead of messing about with colours on the frocks of the two female characters I went for a build option instead.

So the first of my four figures is pretty much built. I have the musket to add but will paint it separately.

I was trying to think of a nation to do him as, my first thought was Iroquois but I am not sure now. Most pictures I have seen all of them have ear ornamentation. These guys don’t seem to have so new thinks are required. The box doesn’t help as it simply calls them Indian wars kit number 1… perhaps I am overthinking this!

To be honest I am glad I like this one as, err I just bought another couple of sets, more First Nations and then a female post apocalyptic survivor with a crossbow… it’s not as if I haven’t got three thousand plus bits of lead and plastic to paint already… hey ho…looks like I never ever learn!

Another Day, Another Beach and some Painting

It was the last day of our long weekend and we ended up on another beach, this one is about 5 miles away from the one yesterday. It is the Tombolo I mentioned in yesterday’s post.

The tide was on the way in when we got there but it didn’t stop the kids running in and out of the waves, like they do! I came close to getting wet too…

I managed to get my second foot soldier finished this evening and photographed the wizard too…

As you can see from the above that I had a go at painting paving onto the bases. It really didn’t work for me so they will get the old sand and tufts treatment .

Finally, Army painter metallics are doing my head in… observe….

They are both stored in the same location and in the same manner, aka chucked in the box! The metallic ones leak everywhere and the others don’t really…it is really beginning to make me somewhat annoyed!

An Afternoon at the Beach and a bit more Painting

Today was a lovely day so we all went down to Levenwick Beach for a bit of a mooch, the kids of course played run away from the waves and thankfully there was no swimming this time.

We got an interesting collection of sea glass and I managed to find a bone of some sort in the sand near one of the unknown potential archaeological jumble of stones. I also decided to have a go at rock balancing, was sat there with some rocks and away I went!

By time I got round to painting, I didn’t really have that much time, but I did manage to finish the wizards and foot soldier (apart from the bases) as well as make a good start on another Knight and foot soldier.

As this is a long weekend then I have another day off tomorrow. The kids are wanting to go to St Ninian’s beach which is an excellent example of a tombolo.

And Finally, I have been spending some more money, this time on the second edition of The One Ring on Kickstarter.

A Bit of Painting and a Story

So I managed to get a bit more done on the wizard and foot soldier…

I also started faffing about with the banshee and doing so more on the Trollkin.

Valhallan’s All Done

At last they are finished, to be fair, I could have pushed on a bit more at times and got them done, but I didn’t so we are where we are.

They really just need a varnish and some of the sand knocking off the bottoms of the coats. I am rather pleased with these, they have turned out sort of how I envisaged them in my head. The one thing I am really happy with is the walker camouflage. So I am going to have. Few days away from 40k miniatures and carryon with some of my stuff.

I eventually got around to finishing my mounted squire. He seems to work with the others in the group. The only thing I am not so happy about is the horse tack. It is a bit too bright for my liking. It may get repainted sometime.

The Bases are Done

Well Sort of! Not sure why but tonight the term butter fingers could be used to convey my skill set, figures bounced across the table, I didn’t quite get to paint the basing glue on their heads but it came close. To be brutally honest, I think the brush I was using was too large, did I change it? Did I heck.

Anyway I need to clean the edges up and get them painted and then I am calling these done. I will probably seal the sand with Watered down PVA tomorrow and then get some kind of vegetation on there. I originally thought of adding snow, but I really do think that it would be too bright and would draw the eye towards the bases too much.

As can be seen from the photo. The lone werewolf is done and the mounted squire is almost done, just really the spear and sword to do. I also made a start on the AA banshee or whatever she is called.

Valhallan’s… Just the Basing To Go

Tonight I got all of the insignia done on the Valhallan’s. I probably spent more time shaking the paint than I did painting the, but hey ho…

I will probably see some stuff that needs doing as I move forwards, but they are certainly near the end of the journey now. They will be based with the same sand as the walker…

I also got some pant onto the wizard and foot soldier…

Not the most productive evening, but at least I managed something.

Speed Painting

Tonight I speed painted details on various miniatures, the blankets on the Valhallan’s have all had their straps painted, the officer has had his medal ribbons done too. Really just the insignia to do and then basing and hopefully they will be done.

I also slapped the paint on various Alternative Armies miniatures as well as the plastic Warhammer Quest wizard.

I was messing around with various bits of blue-tack today and ended up making a rather funky planet…

Who Turned out the Lights?

So tonight it was a bit like a Barry Manilow concert in here…

After two days of gales, on the nice calm day following, we have the power cut. Personally I reckon a starling sat on the power line and caused one of the damaged poles to give up the ghost.

Needless to say I didn’t try out painting by candle light, I mean I could have tried it, but chose discretion instead. I did however, get to fondle my new toys!

More Painting!

Oooh am I on a roll or what, yep I got the vox caster finished this evening and I need to get the straps on the blankets painted then they are pretty much done (oh apart from metallic insignia).

I also worked on my wizard and minotaur.

I also got paint onto other bits and pieces too. Not a huge amount but if I had the pot open then I found something to add that colour too.

The three miniatures above are ancient and this is the first time any of them have seen a pot of paint. It’s funny really, when I played the games then I didn’t paint them, not that I don’t play the games they get paint 😂😂
