Village with added Doors

I remembered to add the doors to the farm houses before I started painting.

The great thing about these doors is that they slide. Obviously for mine I am glueing them as they are going to be for terrain and the roofs will be glued down. If and when I do the skirmish terrain I will have the buildings with their interiors available.

I managed to get the remains of the filament used and then started on another part roll.

Not enough for anything else…

I printed the wooden wall at 50%. The printer coped, however the pieces were too thin to get off the bed in one piece… much swearing occurred! So tonight I am going to see about using 3D builder to faff about with the STL’s and see if I can build it first in there and then print it built.

Piles of Sashimono

Well as promised, I eventually got some sashimono sliced into groups of ten.

Ignore the bed, it needs a clean!

I wanted to use up the remains of the spool of …. I got pretty close. These took 22 minutes per ten and didn’t really use much filament. I did four lots, so forty in total. Not really sure how many I actually need. I will count up tomorrow and see. I reckon I will get another ten out of the remains.

So this is what forty very small sashimono look like…

As can be seen there are a fair few wispy bits attached. I will get these off before attaching them to the miniatures.

The other thing I sliced was a test wooden wall. Each section is made up of seven pieces. So there was no way I was going to get it out of the remains of the filament. Once I have used up what’s left I will move onto the walls.

Cavalry Finished

Tonight I cracked on and got theses finished. Most of the time was spent painting the mon on the sashimono.

I am not sure if I like the one on the black. It is growing on me, but I may change it yet.

The whole force looks like this so far…

I am rather pleased with them. I still have the rest to paint, but this lot have sat there a good while. These will fit very nicely into Ann’s paint the shit you already own challenge. I got these when I was doing the Aztecs so at least six months ago.

Cavalry… Almost Finished

Yep, I just about got them finished tonight. Still some bits and pieces like metallics and hair etc. But the miniatures are almost done. Still a pile of mon to paint on the Sashimono but nearly, nearly done.

Tomorrow I should hopefully have them finished. Then onto the next lot. I never did get my sashimono printed as my good lady was preparing an education pack to do with Shetland boats. Sadly she was using the laptop with both Cura and the files on it. Tomorrow I should manage to get them sliced and give them a go in a block of ten I was thinking.

My son is getting very excited as I pre ordered Predator Hunting Grounds. He has been counting down the days. It’s a pity it is all online play and no single player campaign. It is a four on one game. Four humans against the Predator. Quite looking forward to it to be honest.

I printed off some boxes yesterday as well as more water buffalo and barrels today. Once I get hold of the laptop I will slice some of the wooden fencing and give that a test print.

More Samurai Cavalry

Well okay, it is technically the same Samurai Cavalry with more done to them.

Less and less white showing now. Still a fair old way to go, but broken the back of them now.

Tomorrow I will try and get them finished…I probably would have got more done this evening but my hair was really beginning to bug me as it was at the argggggh too long stage…. and as I couldn’t get to the barbers I took matters into my own hands….

Printed Sashimono

I didn’t bother ordering the sashimono when I got the new Samurai. I was going to use pins and either paper or Greenstuff for the banner part. I was not looking forward to it to be honest.

I then did a quick search on Thingiverse and found one and only one. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3763481

I decided to give it a go. I reduced the size to 30% and did a test print.

Smart new back banners!

Okay the pole part is a bit thick but I am really pleased with them.

These two took 7 minutes to print. So tomorrow I am going to batch print in multiples of ten until I have enough for all of the new ones.

Successful print… back to printing more boxes and barrels for the village.

Samurai Cavalry…Again

Another little bit of work on these. Had a bit of an eventful day… more on that later…

All the skin tones are done (the white ones are face masks with moustaches)now as well as most of the boots and gloves (I say most as I am bound to have forgotten some). onto the trappings tomorrow. These will need to be painted white first then some bright colours added.

The eventful day was caused by the ball cock in the header tank of the hot water boiler snapping.. snapping is too strong a word, it fell off when I went to adjust it. Thankfully the overflow managed to cope and one of the local shops was open on a Sunday and thankfully had plumbing supplies… amazingly replacing it went pretty much without a hitch… apart from dropping my phone down behind a double wall. Thankfully it had the torch on so I could work out where it was and miraculously I could actually reach it without dismantling the kitchen.

Being stood on a ladder did not help the sprained ankle which is still bloody hurting a week later. 😢

We have been out in the sunshine With the bows the last few days and have broken this side of the target box…

I have to go into work to tomorrow to let in one of my staff to get a school iPad to allow her to work from home. I will get some more work ready to send home for the kids.

Samurai Cavalry Update….

This evening my eldest daughter didn’t fancy another night in the caravan so being the doting father that I am I returned the massive distance of 15m back into the house.

On the upside it means I got to paint things..

Still a long way to go on these but they are getting there. I think they are looking rather colourful even with all the unpainted bits.

The village buildings are sprayed…

Guess which numpty forgot to texture the Greenstuff!

Today I gave the old longbow and airing… the blue one on the ground has a 24lb draw on it… the long bow is nearly double the draw weight at 47lb. I nearly ruptured myself drawing the bloody thing.

We caught the arrow just about to leave the bow!

Tomorrow I hope to get some work done on the cavalry and maybe the buildings too.

Samurai Cavalry WIP

Spent a while tonight spraying the village with undercoat and then when Monster University was on I got to work on some more of the cavalry.

I think all of the horses are painted now and most of the clothing too. Sadly I can’t remember what Green I used so the Sashimono on the green troops is a different shade!

I do think these are going to look colourful when they are done.

Village with added Greenstuff

Tonight we ended up watching Monsters Inc as a family so no painting. But I did manage to get the Greenstuff out and attack the gaps in the houses.

It’s only when you see it like this that you realise how many actual gaps there were. I have probably wrecked the end of my finger doing this as I found it more effective than the silicone shapers. Problem with using a finger is that everything is rough on these!

The printer wasn’t turned on at all today… a very unusual occurrence. The filament is running down and I want to do some more animals with the remains before adding a whole new roll on.

When the Greenstuff is dry tomorrow I will get the buildings undercoated and start painting them up. over the next few days.
