Greate Britorcn Officers

Tonight I made a start on some of the Britorcn officers. Left to right are a military Padre, Major Giglamps of Afri and Captain Angus McBam of Joccia…

To be honest the kilt is a little subtle, but felt it was better than my first attempt. They all Have a long way to go, but at least some colours are appearing on the undercoat. The faffing about with the tartan and chequered cloth certainly slowed things down a bit.

Silver Bayonet 2 & 3

Because I am a pillock, I totally forgot to do the write up of our second Silver Bayonet game.

This one had four revenants visible at the start ofnthe game. Luckily at rhe end of the first turn all my forces were out if sight so the revenants went off to annoy Joe on the far side of the table.

The thing about a revenant is it pretty much drops damage to shooting so although there was plenty the revenants shrugged 90% of it off.

Things did get a bit brutal on the far side of the barn…

Unfortunately for us we rolled a lot of double ones and in the end had seven revenants, one ghoul and one animated scarecrow. The game started with only the five revenants. Unluckily for Joe they all appeared in sight of his troops so he got the brunt of the monsters. Unfortunately for me the door to the barn was in the far side which allowed my opponent to nip in, kill the revenant and leg it. The animated scarecrow had a damage reduction of 8, which meant it was pretty much impervious to anything except fire which was a total bugger as neither of us had any!

I would like to say things degenerated into chaos, but I would be lying…it was chaos from turn one.

My supernatural investigator tried a mad dash to retrieve the artefact, but sadly the odds were against him and he couldn’t stop his opposite number legging it off the table.

After the battle my officer had to roll on the injuries table and relieved a permanent wound which reduced his health by one point. Joe had two put out of action but came through unscathed.

Tonight we tried scenario three and ended up hunting for a troll under a bridge!

It was a slow start with no-one wanting to get shot at, but eventually the bullets started to fly. The doctor was certainly busy on both sides of the table. My lady occultist actually managed to curse people and caused a number of Joe’s troops to lose -1 on all of their rolls.

Joe got to the bridge first and annoyed the troll… luckily all my chap’s were out of sight and the troll charged Joe’s investigator and swordswoman. Sadly for her she fell to the beast. The officer charged the troll only to find he forgot to light his burning torch before he charged and was splatted. Luckily the doctor was in range to revive him. More chaos ensued as eve everyone tried to either kill the troll or kill the people trying to kill the troll.

In the end the bloody investigator managed to leg it with another artefact. My shooting had him down to one wound, but the lucky sod escaped…. again!

In the end Joe had two downed troops and I managed to get away with light wounds. Both his officer and the swordswoman ended up with a permanent wound apiece. Both ended up with the jitters, this causes a -1 to their courage

We remembered a lot more of the rules this week, but forgot the -1 to shooting when you move and fire. We will get there in the end I am sure.

We had a good couple of games and are going to try and squeeze another one in on Friday.

Seek for the Sword that was Broken

So if you remember, I noticed that this chappy had a broken sword in transit…

Well today i had a go at fixing it and am rather pleased with the results…

It is a bit longer than the original. This was so that I could have two points of contact for the superglue. I drilled out a pilot hole in the sword and then cut a piece of flexible wire to fit between the hole and the plume. I then mixed up far too much superfine Milliput and set to work. Gradually I got closer and closer to the shape wanted. I decided to call it a day at this point and will sand it down tomorrow.

Two More Goblins

Tonight I managed to get the next two goblins done. By done please read that as pretty much done… I might dirty up the armour a bit…

The toes could do with a bit of a touch up as the paint was rubbed off whilst holding the miniatures. I really need to come up with a better way to hold miniatures without a base.

Just the fallen hero to go for the miniature painting… well unless I need more goblins 😜.

BOFA Goblins

This evening I did a bit of work on a couple of the goblins.

There is still along way to go which is probably why I have a bit of a problem with them. The one with the bow doesn’t actually have surfer shorts on, it is in fact a kilt type of thing. I will crack on with them tomorrow and hopefully get them finished.

This evening I finished watching ‘All of us are Dead’. I actually really enjoyed it, although I am not ashamed to admit it … there were a few moist eye moments. I only hope to god they don’t bring out a second series and leave it where it is at.

BOFA Humans

As i said yesterday, I was a bit lacking in the human side of the battle of the five Armies. So this evening I evened things up a bit and got these two done…

Tomorrow I hope to get some work done on the Goblins.

Battle of the Five Armies

Well as you know I was going to do a small diorama with small number of printed miniatures. Problem was I was missing the men. So I added some. Problem with that is that they then outnumbered the forces of evil. So to redress the balance I printed some more.

Technically three men. One of them is having a lie down. I added some orks from various sets to add a bit of variety.

It took ages to get them to print as I reinstalled Chitubox on the PC and for some reason all the settings had changed. It just about drove me up the wall. I got there in the end though.

The Silver Bayonet

Tonight Joe and I got a long awaited game in. As you can probably guess, we played our first game of The Silver Bayonet.

I went with the French and Joe chose the Spanish. We played the first Scenario named ‘The Investigation’. We set up the table as seen below.

My forces are in the bottom and Joe is to the top . The black markers are clues, Joe managed to reach two first. First was some oriole remains that had been gnawed upon.

Sadly his second proved to be a hobgoblin, which was hiding in the middle of the ruins and guess who he attacked….

Sadly my dice throws were a bit rusty. I got overcome by the privation of the scary monster. In the end we managed to throw three double ones and ended up attracting another hobgoblin and two revenenants.

It all got a bit brutal around my initial move location …I never managed to move away from it. In the end I managed to kill the swordsman and wound the hobgoblin…

Sadly my grenadier bought the farm. The doctor managed to revive one of my troopers, but in the end my officer charged to infantryman at the corner, failed to hit him and as he was already wounded he succumbed to a bayonet thrust to the lungs…

We decided to call it at that point. Joe was the winner as my troops decided to leg it when the officer went down. This would of course mean that he had to deal with the indestructible hobgoboin and a revenant. I reckon he was in with a good chance as he had already killed one of each. My Occultist managed to do more damage to herself than the spells did to her enemies… I told you my dice were naff! In my case it was more a case of ‘Carry on Screaming’ than ‘Van Helsing’!

It was a good first game, we did get some things wrong, but it didn’t stop the enjoyment.

One thing I did notice was that there was no easy find rule page, so we spent a lot of time to-ing and fro-ing through the book.

We are going to have another bash at the rules next Wednesday.

Diorama Miniatures Painted

Tonighti managed to get the Wolves and Goblin finished as well as pretty much do the same with the elf and dwarf…

I was going to put them on a base I already have, but I think I will make something a bit bigger.

Today was more papering, I managed another wall even though my back and legs were giving me gyp. We had to go and buy more paper as we had a change of ideas.. I think we made the right choice. I am hoping to get the rest of the lounge done tomorrow.
