Prop Finished and back with the Pikes

I have a very happy boy as he really liked his Halloween prop and got Kudos as all his friends really liked it…

After I took this photo I used some black webbing to make him a sling.

We played more family games tonight. This time Herd Mentality… a game where you score points if you are in the majority with your answers. Good fun was had by all.

I did however, get some more pikes started….

The above is roughly two bases worth…I will, carry on plugging away until I have enough…

Painting but, Not Pikes…😊

My son wanted his Nerf Gun pimped a bit for his fancy dress costume tomorrow evening. Luckily he asked me today. Still a long way to go but we are getting there.

I am doing it, with his help, to his specifications… tomorrow the blue grey lines get white added on the inside.

The magazine and stock are just about done, so it is the main weapon that needs the work. He wants the pump action and hand grip done black. Luckily I have a black rattle can knocking aboutjn the shed.

I Achieved Something ðŸ™‚

Yes, after a couple of days of shirking, I got around to finishing off the the three strips of miniatures….

After taking the photo I realised that I needed to some tidying up as well as painting the drums, but I did manage to get them into the bases.

I have nineteen 6 figure strips to paint, considering, this lot made only two bases, and even then I had to add some extras that were already painted.

I reckon I will get three bases worth done. However some will need to be used for repair on the squashed bases.

Tomorrow I am going to actually see how many bases I have, I kind of have an inkling that this is enough…. I decided to have a look now….

I actually have enough to use without repairing anything, but I probably will as the extras are primed anyway.

The Tercio would look like this half sized….

It looks a bit weird but I can probably live with it.

Another Night Off

Not again, I hear you cry, but this time I was doing Dad’s taxi and dinner making service… so I really didnt get sat down until gone 20.00. However I did have to sort out the trophy, so utvwzs undercoated and then I tried painting it with Army Painter Metallic Gold. 10 minutes of shaking like buggery and it still wasn’t mixed. So I tried a couple of coats, total and utter waste of time, so once it gad cured a bit then it was out with the shiny copper spray.

The second reason was that I was downloading my Aliens and Marines, sadly they were online as individual miniatures and it took forever to download them, so to calm everyone down, I thought I would share

Not a bad view I thought, this us taken as I saw it, no filters were used…

Having a Night Off

Yes the Lazy bugger that I am,  I decided that tonight I was doing sod all. Well I didn’t get in until 19.30 and had toothache,  and had had ‘one of those days’ not sure why, as work wise things went fine…

These are still in exactly the same place and state of completion as yesterday.

Oh yeah, I did do something this evening (I just remembered). I sliced and am printing a pumpkin  trophy for the kids in school. On Friday we are having a Halloween party, as the usual one is cancelled. The best pumpkin gets a prize and the trophy.

Bored, Bored, Bored

As you might have guessed, I am a little bored of this project… it honestly seems to be going on FOREVER…

Anyway I cracked on tonight and worked on another three sets of strips, getting them quite a long way on…

On the up side I do seem to be getting faster, I think. These need hats, feathers, Pike spikes and base to do. Hopefully I will get these done tomorrow and get a start on the next three set of strips.

Now these and the ones I finished yesterday seem a lot brighter than some of the earlier ones, but it might simply be that I have used different amounts of paint on the brush, I know that I am doing one at a time rather than spreading the same paint over a couple of models, the other possibility is that I have shaken the paint pots really hard over the last couple of days. For whatever reason, I really do like them.

Three Bases Down

This evening I got another three bases put together…

I also made a start on another few bases worth…

Ye gods this project is beginning to drag a smidge. The under coated ones above are the mix of flexible and ordinary resin, so they should be a bit more resilient. I doubt they would take a direct hit from a filament reel, but to be honest I don’t know what would. From what I remember I can do six strips in four days, or something like that so this lot should be done by the weekend. I will then assess whether I need to do any more. Hopefully my bristle pikes and a few extra miniatures here and there will sort out the damaged ranks of the original set.

One day I might actually paint my cannons!

Next!

I managed to get the next lot of miniatures undercoated today😊

At the back is my broom bristle pike undercoater . I drilled holes in a lump of 2×1 and dropped the bristles in.

I didn’t get any painting done this evening as I was catching up with my STL backlog that needed downloading.

Back to work tomorrow so trying for an early night.

More Pikes Finished

Yes, tonight I worked on, and got finished, the next lot of pikes….

Which to be is a bit of a relief as I thought I was beginning to struggle with them after the PLA reel incident, I kind if lost motivation. Normally I would just go and do something else for a while but people have guessed a date so I fell it is July fair that I keep to some kind of schedule. I will get these based up tomorrow sometime, and hopefully undercoat some more.

Tonight we had a fun family game of Horrible Histories board/quiz game…

I thought I would give you a heads up to see my next Kickstarter…

I do have a bit of a caveat here that this is from my friends company, but I have asked him to fire me a small stl so that I can show you how things look printed…

And finally, I found a broom that didn’t have bright red, white, green or yellow bristles…

I would have preferred a tan colour, but this was all Lerwick could supply me with, that wasn’t one of the above colours.
