I also undercoated my Lord of the Rings miniatures this evening…
These are for a mini diorama entitled ‘The Battle of the Five Armies’
My rheumatism, or whatever it is in my fingers kicked off today, but I did manage a bit of decorating.
So I suddenly remembered that there were two Catalucian officers sitting in full view and have been since… at least 3rd February… so this evening instead of the Samurai I thought I might as well get them finished to join the rest of them.
To be honest, nothing fancy. The one in green has a weird moustache and in hindsight perhaps a lighter colour might have been a better choice for it. I feel a colour change coming on tomorrow.
Well after the 28 mm quasi Napoleonics, I decided to get my 6 mm Samurai done… by done please read that as got them out of the box added a bit of colour and then put them back again…
I am back in the kayak tomorrow night so may not achieve much.
This evening I cracked on and got the remaining foot painted and based up.
So that is them all done apart from these two
Since this photo was taken I have managed to paint the base brown and add a black edge 😃. I am going to try and get them finished tomorrow.
I spent the last couple of days adding bits of white to the undercoated then Contrast covered elves. This evening I started adding colour to them.
As you can see these are different to the others, the drummer is still a mystery to me. I actually think he is kne of the Ferach (French) elves. The shako cover really does make me think that… I just couldn’t be bothered to check it out. Well he is now in the pay of the Catalucian elves…
Hopefully I will crack on with these tomorrow. Luckily I am on my Easter break so I might get the chance for sneaky painting sessions during the day.
Look what I just found in a forgotten box under the bed!

This evening I undercoated the remaining elves and left them to cure. I decided to paint something whilst I waited.
Having a mooch through a box I found a pile of Neolithic hunter gatherers that needed finishing… here they are…
These were really crap prints I did with my first resin printer. I reckon it was from the time it started to act up. I nearly binned them at the time, but slapped some paint on anyway.
Well, these ones are Finished… However, I have another five to make a start on tomorrow.
Once I have all of the Catalucian’s painted then I will give them all a varnish at the same time.
These are the remaining ones that need an undercoat.
For reasons known only to myself, I bought a drummer! The only thing I can think of is that I was meant to get a sergeant ir something from the command pack and ended up clicking the wrong thing. I just checked and I cannot find him anywhere!
Tonight I worked on getting the painting finished on the elves… I think I actually succeeded!
I still need to get the bases covered, but I am happy so far.
So first up are the two irregulars…
The three line, well two line and one light…
And finally the two Grenadiers…
I still have two grenadiers and at least two line troops to paint. Methinks I will do them in different facings to denote different units. I did see a picture of the grenadier types in a blue jacket.
Don’t ask me why I went and bought so many as I haven’t got a clue. Obviously I had a plan when I ordered them, but sadly I have no idea now.
Anyway a bit more local news – remember this chap…
He has been herded out of the Voe and was last seen diving deep off the island of Vementry. Hopefully that is him back where he belongs safe and sound. He was evidently around 14 metres (45 feet) long and weighed around 50 tons. Luckily he managed to escape with a little help from his well wishers.
And finally the flipping white stuff has arrived again!
Thus evening I noticed an issue with one of my back tyres, so when I got home I got ready to change it, everything ready to get the spare out… okay first off, the boot won’t open from the outside, but never mind a climb over the back seat and the boot was popped…
I removed the crap out of the boot and opened the lid to reveal the spare, my nice new spare… sadly the screw down plastic turnscrew thing was not playing. An hour and 45 minutes later with the aid of an angle grinder I got the spare out, and 10 minutes after that had the wheel changed…
Needless to say my evening’s painting was somewhat curtailed, but I managed to do a smidge on the Spanish Elves…
The one thing I noticed tonight was that the big strapping grenadier on the right is the smallest miniature in the whole set…
