Koreans for the Imjin War

Well, they sort of look like they are… these are going to be for Ronin and will become a skirmish force to fight against…well whoever really. I have samurai, bandit as well as sohei to have a bit of a punch up with.

I have printed two lots out, one for me and one for Joe. These are from the same company that my Sohei came from. They have been slowly releasing the stretch goals, I can now also have a 15mm Turtle ship… part of me really wants to print it just for the hell of it!

The above were based twice. I had three left to glue and suddenly realised I also using the wrong sized bases. Luckily a scalpel helped me remove them without total carnage.

Now one of these has me a bit confused. He is middle row, second from the right and is armed with a firearm. He also has some strange device between him and the weapon. At first I thought it was a support I missed, but it would appear not.

Objective Markers

Well at the minute I am trying to use up the last of the filament spool so I wanted smaller bits. Today I went for objective markers and wooden beams.

I went for three of the four designs for the markers. Each has a number on the bottom to support various sneaky things in game. I went for 1 to 6 for each one.

The crates etc in the background were printed the other day.

Paint Argy-Bargy

For those who have English as a second language or those who are potentially not up on our colloquialisms then an argy-bargy is a bit of a verbal row.

By Heck the paint world has been rocked by a bit of a hoo haah about Army Painter Speedpaints and tye new Vallejo xpress range.

Evidently Juan Hidalgo said bad things about Speedpaints reactivating whilst working with Vallejo on their Xpress range.

Now as you know, I personally dislike Speedpaints and did exhaustive testing to see if I was in the wrong …according to Spikeybits it was my fault as I was indeed not varnishing between layers. … but I digress. Said Spikeybits has not taken a pop at Juan for not mentioning working alongside Vallejo. And it has gone nasty.

Funnily enough AP has just recruited people on their paint development team who never mentioned the reactivation… now to be fair they were in their initial testing they painted a model a single colour, but in later ones they did not.

As expected it has got a bit nasty now… I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. What Juan said was true, he didnt lie… he just didn’t mention he was testing paints for a competitors.

So excitement abounds to see what happens next!

Great Big Tower

Well that is the tower finished. Part one was just under 19 hours, part two over 26 hours and part three came in at just under 7 hours. So all in about 52 hours… I am now going to have to purchase a new roll of filament too as this took up an awful lot.

On the tooth front, I ended back in at the dentist today as my face swelled right up and was really sore. They cleaned it out again and also redid the filling.

Here is mr Chipmunk!

The triage nurse wanted to see what the swelling looked like. I took the photo while on the phone to get.

Oh Woe is Me!

My curse upon your venom’d stang,
That shoots my tortur’d gums alang,
An’ thro’ my lug gies mony a twang,
Wi’ gnawing vengeance,
Tearing my nerves wi’ bitter pang,
Like racking engines!

Who says I am uncultured!

Yeah Friday night at 17.00 toothache arrived and as of 20.00 Monday it us still there. I managed to get an emergency appointment today at 15.00 tooth drilled out and abscess drained, but it hurt more coming out than when I went in.

Sat here feeling sorry for myself now!

The cause was a filling dropping out on the first day of Lockdown in 2020

Our dental services are so backlogged they are really only doing emergency appointments while they work through the waiting list. Added to this we lost a number of dentists. Even the private practices have huge waiting lists.

Regular service will hopefully resume tomorrow.

Out of interest the printer is still chuntering away in the bottom shed. 25 hours in another tower and base are standing 14.8cm last time I looked. It has another bit to go on top,… not sure how tall it will be.

The Ruined Tower Part One

Eighteen hours Forty nine minutes of printing led to the first part of the tower getting finished.

The tower will be on the right hand side. Based on the printer first layers the tower is the same length as this one. From what I remember there will be a rock face against the lower bit, but I honestly cannot remember what it looks like.

24 Hours and Counting

Evidently I put a lot on the build plate and it is taking forever

This photo was taken over 24 hours after I started printing.… in fact it took 25 hours 56 minutes to finish.

The little cottage is self evident as are the crates. The other two are from a large gate. The left side has the opening and the right is the top. There are a couple of bottom segments hidden beyond the print head.

So as it took so long, I decided to wait to show you the final result.

Sadly it is a pretty poor print 🥺. It is really rough! It will do, but it’s not the best.

Really not sure why. I have it set on low quality, just to speed things up a bit, but these are worse than previous ones on the same settings. As the temperature has dropped I reckon that could be a reason.

Small Scatter Bits

So after doing a lot of big buildings and some larger scatter I was running a bit low on filament so I went down a few sizes to ensure I didn’t run out mid print. Here is an original Mordheim miniature trying the out for size.

Individual barrels: Digital Taxidermy… the rest Iain Lovecraft

To breed honest I could have probably done another set of these with what was left on the roll, but my new one came today so I went back to bigger things. Mixed in amongst the bigger things were another set of the crates.

I am really pleased that this machine seems to be back to full functionality. Obviously the money I spent on upgrades, never installed, was wasted as it is now (touch wood) seems to be fine.

I can only remember some of what I added to the build plate so tomorrow I am in for a surprise 😁. Not sure what time tomorrow as the build plate is quite full. When I was out just before the bases of things hat were printed were about 3mm high… that was after almost 4 hours printing. I did spot one thing that might cause me problems. One of the crate piles seemed to be touching another thing!

Into The Verse

Tonight Joe and I had another game of Firefly…

It was a close run thing. He was nearly Skint, but managed to pop a victory on the last turn.

The Reavers made two moves in the whole game and the Alliance Cruiser the same.

His is a better game at the club as we ca spread stuff out on the table rather than having to squeeze everything onto my kitchen table. We are going to give Frostgrave a bash next week.
