Tonight I made a start on some of the Britorcn officers. Left to right are a military Padre, Major Giglamps of Afri and Captain Angus McBam of Joccia…
To be honest the kilt is a little subtle, but felt it was better than my first attempt. They all Have a long way to go, but at least some colours are appearing on the undercoat. The faffing about with the tartan and chequered cloth certainly slowed things down a bit.
So if you remember, I noticed that this chappy had a broken sword in transit…
Well today i had a go at fixing it and am rather pleased with the results…
It is a bit longer than the original. This was so that I could have two points of contact for the superglue. I drilled out a pilot hole in the sword and then cut a piece of flexible wire to fit between the hole and the plume. I then mixed up far too much superfine Milliput and set to work. Gradually I got closer and closer to the shape wanted. I decided to call it a day at this point and will sand it down tomorrow.
Well, these ones are Finished… However, I have another five to make a start on tomorrow.
All, finished
Once I have all of the Catalucian’s painted then I will give them all a varnish at the same time.
These are the remaining ones that need an undercoat.
For reasons known only to myself, I bought a drummer! The only thing I can think of is that I was meant to get a sergeant ir something from the command pack and ended up clicking the wrong thing. I just checked and I cannot find him anywhere!
This evening I managed to make a bit more progress with the Spanish, or rather Catalucian Elves.
Two grenadiers, two irregulars, two line and a light infantryman. Obviously these are elves, but I have tried to use 1808 Spanish uniforms for ideas… as an example the grenadiers and regulars should have white cross belts, but as they are fantasy, then mine have black.
I actually used Speedpaints for the purple, but as you can imagine I was super careful to make sure it only went where it should go, especially when the uniform was white. Obviously I could have chosen a whole host of facing colours, but I fancied purple.
I still have to work on the white on the uniforms, as can be seen on the grayish leg on one of the regulars.
Out of interest, Shetland had a bit of an unusual visitor in one of the voes near to where I live…
The above is a sperms whale and it is bloody huge, sadly, as it is huge, it shouldn’t be there. I took some better photos with my camera. I will share them on the Shetland blog when I get them off.
Well 15mm worth of painting happened this evening, I managed to get the demon Samurai, or is it a Samurai demon done this evening…
I decided to do him with grey skin rather than a more human colour. To make him a bit brighter he got yellow hair to make him stand out from other helmetless Samurai.
I got a parcel today… huzzah…
To be honest some of them I cannot remember ordering… the spiders and two miniatures on the right were freebies.
These are my Dark Elf ‘Spanish’ from Alternative Armies as well as a couple of Bandito’s from their Amerika range.
Now Silver Bayonet has an officer and 7 seven others in his small force… the mathematically astute of you will see two officers and twelve here already, not counting the five irregulars I have already painted… don’t ask me what was going on in my head as I have lost my various lists I made. Some are regulars and some others are going to act as Ekites or grenadiers, but apart from that I actually haven’t got the foggiest.
One of the officers came with a separate sword arm so I glued it on earlier… its a bit on the small side…
I reckon in am going to have to build up the back side of it with greenstuff. On the upside it will strengthen the join a bit.
I have run out of round MDF bases, so may either have to purchase some more or return to using 2p’s. I prefer the MDF as it us a bit softer on the other painted miniatures if something goes awry.
Tomorrow I will try and find the lists and also see why the heck I ordered a drummer as they don’t appear in the ruleset.. I have either ordered one by mistake or have been sent a one in error or an extra freebie…my have got two of the fantasy females instead of just one…
This evening I was playing Dad’s Taxi so didn’t really get much time to get anything painted. I did manage to get La Spiga finished as well as get her and my mates minis based too.
I am hoping to get his 15mm undercoated tomorrow as well as get some more of my 6mm Italian wars done.
Flipping heck… I actually managed to get some painting done this evening… I finished the cave and bushes…
I also managed to get my mates Flintloque miniatures done…
I got a good start on my miniature with the sword back left.
This is a super rare Fljntloque miniature, it is no longer available and hasn’t been for years. I spent a good while looking for her and eventually got her in a job lot. Of lTe I decided that she should either go to someone else or get painted. The Silver Bayonet allowed me to get her started as I have decided to go for a Spanish unit and she fits in fine.
I will get some more done on her tomorrow as well as get some of the Irregulars undercoated.
After the angst of painting the Sisters of Battle these were an absolute pleasure to do. It might be that there were only four of them or maybe it was they were a bit chunkier or even that I needed a change, but whatever reason I really liked doing them.
They still need a couple of coats of varnish, but the painting is done. Because I had only a bit to do I also got some more done on the mounted squire as well as this lone werewolf…
I also had a jolly good look for another Chaos Knight to paint up, but sadly he was nowhere to be found, and in hindsight I actually think that he was already painted… in black armour, from what I remember. Anyway I had a rootle through the HeroQuest box to see what I could find and decided to have a go at these three. Sadly nowhere near the one painted years ago, but at least a similar style.
I will see what I can do with them when I get around to it 😂. I will get them undercoated tomorrow and then make a start on Wednesday.
I will get the Valhallan’s started tomorrow too. I will be using the brush on undercoat to get some of the undercoat back to white to allow for the Contrast paint.
