Off the Printer… Again

Tonight winter arrives with a vengeance and with the big car having a flat tyre and the little car waiting to be picked up from the garage then I had to drive the hire car into town, drop it off, walk across town in the driving snow and pick up the repaired car. I just about made it to do the horse as the roads were getting , and to quote me, “a bloody nighmare”.I then had to go back to town to pick up my eldestfrom Drama, who kindly volunteered to leave early so we could get back. The 15 minute journey took at least twice that…

The joys of un gritted roads In a blizzard. At one point I missed my exit as the snow was that bad I couldn’t see it. The police have issued a don’t drive request until 10.00 tomorrow.

Anyway I couldn’t really be bothered to paint anything tonight, but I did did get these beauties off the build plate…

The Kelenken are to make a diorama, but jus thad to have a smilodon and dinocrocuta wearing armour… I am too excited by this! Must think 6mm Italian wars!

The End is in Sight

Today I got the Doppelsoldners and skirmish arqubusiers printed and stuck on bases.

As the original skirmish troops are quite fragile, with or without high speed cable reels dropping in them, I have decided to replace them. I literally just binned any unpainted ones and will replace them with the newly printed ones.

So here we have the remains of the army…

In the rear are the skirmish troops. Bottom left are the attached skirmish screen for the Pike blockandbkttom right are the Doppelsoldners. Technically I only need two, but as I have four Pike blocks then I can choose to have them as Landskecht or Tercio. It just gives me that bit more flexibility on a force.

So if we take the above and add the ones done yesterday, then we have the remaining miniatures left to paint…

These will be added to this lot….

The unpainted bases are to be replaced by some of the new ones above.

I am hoping to the new ones sprayed tomorrow and then started on Tuesday.

Back with the Italian Wars

Yes, I got my flexible arqubusiers sorted today, only to find that I am short. It didn’t help that I got carried away doing ranked ones. The rules state 8 Pike and 8 guns. I reduced the size of the Pike to half size, but forgot with the arqubusiers…

They can be used in an army list so there is no loss there, plus I now have more pikes than I need so they could be used in that.

I am however, short four bases of skirmishers to cover the Landskecht Pike blocks. I will do some more tomorrow. I also need the base of Doppelsoldners for each one too. I will have to slice these and get them printed.

I took too long collecting the second lot from the drying off basket… All I can say is that I a glad it is flexible resin…

The straightish one is my first set which I cured after about an hour to get the ISO off… the others was about two days!

The British Take Shape

As it was my youngest’s birthday today, I didn’t get that much done. The new arqubusiers are still in the printer shed, and I will print the third set off before i spray them white.

I therefore looked at what needed doing on the Ironclads…

It is not really visible on the photo, but the Hull bottom is in fact black. I will carry on with these sometime soon. Hopefully I will get the 6mm stuff printed tomorrow and then undercoated.

Cows and Guns

I wish I could have written cows with guns there, but never mind. I worked on the 6mm Italian wars artillery this evening and got four of the six guns done. To hide the base I added some terrarium sand. This needs sealing before painting which is why it is still a natural colour.

The cows need a nkt of work on them.. things like the horns etc, but I am going to leave them pretty much the same colour that they are now.

Ironclads…an Update

This evening I was feeling a bit better so I managed to get some work done on the German Fleet…. Still a long way to go, but definitely getting there….

I hollowed out the asteroid, but made the walls too thin, so will do it again tomorrow.

I also did some 6mm Italian wars stuff started too…

Italian Wars Big Guns

This evening I putted guys together… I don’t need them all, but it gives some for me and some for Joe if he needs them.

So from left to right we have heavy, medium and light artillery. Each of the pair is slightly different to make them easier to spot mid game. I bet you cannot tell which light gun barrels pinged across the room never to be seen again!

At the rear are a couple of herds of cattle. All of these apart from the medium guns and gunners are dropped from 28mm.

The others are dropped from 10mm.

I also got the German Ironclads undercoated today. These are white, so no worries about some weird green base coat like the British.

Kaiserliche Äthermarine Vessels

Tonight I got these off the print bed… again two of the smaller vessels, but this time on the German side…

Destroyer left and Gunboat right. The destroyer has a torpedo rack aft.

The stands are being printed just now, so hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to show you them in their entirety. These take 2x1mm neodymium magnets to attach the weaponry, typically mine are all 3x1mm. I should have some with me soon, along with another bottle of resin.

These do need support and I sat them at an angle with the stern nearest the bed… you can play around with the angle, the British were done at 45 degrees and the German at about 40.

This was from the British print. I had forgotten to change the support settings, so I had 78% coverage and also heavy supports… not sure why…

I will check on the stands inba minute and get the next pair printing before bed.

Sadly no pikes tonight as I have a stinking tooth ache again. The pain killers eventually dulled it to a constant nagging discomfort. I will attempt to get to a dentist sometime soon.

In the Navy…

Ooh I am very excited as Triple Ace Games sent me a couple of British and German Ironclads of the Aether Navy to print and paint. Lots of Victorian Derring Do on the horizon methinks.

So I got a quick start guide and two German and two British vessels. As well as some play aids too. So a big thank you to Rob and Wiggy for giving me a go.

So here we have a British destroyer, left and a British Gunboat right. I have placed the guns on as these take magnets to allow for weapon swaps. These are sitting in the shed to get rid of the ISO fumes. I will cure them tomorrow. They also have a stand for each.

Now these are at the smaller end of the miniatures, with the resin printer I got these two done in just under 5 hours and used about 50ml of resin, so not bad time wise and cost wise.

I am not 100% sure when the kickstarter will drop, but Wiggy will be glad when it does as it will stop me pestering him about it.

So far there are three forces, the Americans, British and Germans.

I want to be honest here, Wiggy is a good mate, and I want to help him and Rob out by showing off their new game. So hopefully I will do things Justice in my printing and painting.

Bored, Bored, Bored

As you might have guessed, I am a little bored of this project… it honestly seems to be going on FOREVER…

Anyway I cracked on tonight and worked on another three sets of strips, getting them quite a long way on…

On the up side I do seem to be getting faster, I think. These need hats, feathers, Pike spikes and base to do. Hopefully I will get these done tomorrow and get a start on the next three set of strips.

Now these and the ones I finished yesterday seem a lot brighter than some of the earlier ones, but it might simply be that I have used different amounts of paint on the brush, I know that I am doing one at a time rather than spreading the same paint over a couple of models, the other possibility is that I have shaken the paint pots really hard over the last couple of days. For whatever reason, I really do like them.
