Yes I got these off the build plate earlier and they are now sitting with their undead chums talking about old times, in the case of Vlad… very old times indeed.
As you can see, my necromancer isn’t the usual run of the mill version. I can see why Vlad chose this one.
I was chuffed this evening that I had got the undead all finished, I counted them then counted them again and suddenly realised I was missing someone. Yes, as I hadn’t used my list again then I had forgotten to print one of the most important characters in an undead force… the necromancer!
I had a mooch about, in case I had one, I did but it didn’t appeal to me as it was a skeletal necromancer. I decided that I wanted something different so chose a female miniature to act as my missing person. I will print her off during the day… this is the horde as it stands…
I also sliced the vampire in his human form, you know in case he wants to pop into Sigmar Haven for a quick bite.
I never got the Reikland lot sliced as I was too busy choosing a necromancer. Hopefully tomorrow.
Today I carried on with printing miniatures. I did the remains of the Witch hunters . Two zealots and a pair of flagellants. As per my list I wanted the flagellants to have big smacky sticks. It was after I cured them I realised that I had chosen the wrong bodies for the said smacking sticks. So off I went to print two more bodies and a couple of torches and hand weapons to add to these armless ( or rather handless) one already printed.
The second print was a possessed beast. I Would go as far as saying that this chap will be anything but harmless. He has a big tooth filled gob and betentacled arms to boot. All in all not something you would want to meet in an alley in any form of light.
Once again these are a mix of miniatures . The two zealots are Vae Victus, the flagellants are from Erramir Orlans… my original imperial army miniatures. The possessed beastie was a freebie from Thingiverse… unfortunately I forgot to write down who designed it.
Well it is started if you class it as: ‘printed the first force in full’.
Here we have a Possessed warband. From left to right we have a Magister (leader), two mutants one with a tentacle and the other being hideous these two are your heroes. The remaining six are your rank and file. First up, four brethren- two with bows and two with hand weapons. The final two are Beastmen. One with an axe and shield and the other with a two handed weapon.
Funnily enough, the first fully printed force was the last one I planned.
Now I did cock up a bit with this force. I got to the end and realised I had forgotten to give the mutants a weapon… one ended up with a club and the other an axe. This actually bumped them over the 500 points.
These came from Vae Victus (the humans) and Duncan Shadow for the beastmen. The magister was the only one piece miniature. The rest were multipart kits.
Before printing I checked sizes with the Highland miniatures, the Vae Victus ones had their height increased to 110% and the beastmen by 130% all over. I wanted the later to be a bit more chunky.
As I type this I am printing a possessed creature. The original set had one in, but with a base cost of 90 and various mutations then it burns through a lot of start up points. It does mean though that I could have a bit of a swap about if I do fancy it in the starting line up. In Mordheim you take a panic roll if you lose 25%. As the force as it stands means I get to lose three before making that roll. If I put the big beastie in then I roll after losing two. The only person with armour is the boss. So the rest had better not get wounded.
Tomorrow I am going to finish off the Witch hunters then move onto the Sisters of Sigmar.
My eldest has a bit of a Batman theme this Christmas so I decided to help out and print them something.
This was where I got to…
It was only after I had glued them to the bases, undercoated them and started painting Harley Quinn that I realised one of her hat pom poms hadn’t printed properly. Hence the greenstuff!
Once it has cured I will get it undercoated and then finish the paint job.
Come to think of it, I actually undercoated her twice, once in a grey like Batman and then again in white to help the red out a bit.
Today has been all about printing. I found these walls for free. They are pretty awesome. They join via the pin-and-hole method. They can go straight, 45 degrees, and a right angle.
The above is made from two short walls and two wall ends. The wall ends are in the foreground. A short wall is about 70mm or just under 3 inches.
Now instead of shoving as much onto the build plate as possible, I am instead going for smaller numbers, a major reason is that the filament is running short, but also because I got two walls in just over two hours.
I also printed a dozen ghouls and a dozen dwarves Huscarls.
Today, I was feeling totally crap, my left arm is really sore where they shoved a Covid Booster into it. He did say it might be a bit more painful than the last one. He wasn’t kidding! Either that or I am a total wimp.
My family and the kids at school have been down with various Winter bugs… I reckon they have caught up with me.
Anyway I did a bit of slicing today as well as some printing. I also decided to get some paint on the undercoated skeletons. Not exactly a huge amount of work, but better than nothing.
At the minute I am printing half a dozen ghouls, having already done some dodos for the kids next week.
Well, they sort of look like they are… these are going to be for Ronin and will become a skirmish force to fight against…well whoever really. I have samurai, bandit as well as sohei to have a bit of a punch up with.
I have printed two lots out, one for me and one for Joe. These are from the same company that my Sohei came from. They have been slowly releasing the stretch goals, I can now also have a 15mm Turtle ship… part of me really wants to print it just for the hell of it!
The above were based twice. I had three left to glue and suddenly realised I also using the wrong sized bases. Luckily a scalpel helped me remove them without total carnage.
Now one of these has me a bit confused. He is middle row, second from the right and is armed with a firearm. He also has some strange device between him and the weapon. At first I thought it was a support I missed, but it would appear not.
