I Achieved Something…

This evening I actually sat down and added tufts to half of the undead…

The above shows a few bases sporting them…

I also actually picked up a paint brush and did a bit on the 15mm Sohei…

I have done a bit of printing too, mainly dwarves… here are the miners…

Starting to Re-emerge

Today I took a small step or two towards getting back into the swing of things…

I started the printer going. I almost painted something but the urge to recommence wasn’t really that strong.

Hopefully more will be printed tomorrow and something will get painted , flocked or tufted.

Cannot be Ars*d

Sorry no blog for a while, the title really says it all. I have just literally run out of steam.

I have plenty to be going on with. Part of me is waiting for a pile of tufts to arrive so that I can finish off the undead… I could add rust, but for some reason don’t want to… probably scared I balls things up to be honest.

I have 15mm Samurai and imperial stuff either undercoated or part finished sitting right next to the paint.

Hopefully a regular service will return shortly!

As I have done sod all I thought I would share my class WIP on the Great Wall.

New Paint Update

Well if you remember I managed to order a couple of blues in error yesterday. I sent a nice email enquiring if they would be able to swap it out for any random colour. I mean the error was mine and they could have easily said no… tonight I got a nice email back…

Just updated your order. I have swapped it for 1 PAPYRUS DIP color

I think you will use it.

Regards,

I.Soriano

So a big thank you to Greenstuff World… a very happy chappy here in Shetland.

Unfortunately I wont be buying much paint for a bit of a while. Sadly my 11 year old VW Polo has decided that it is time for it to retire. 126,000 miles has taken its toll and tonight I had to go and look for something with a bit less on the clock. Gone are the days of a £500 car. The one we are looking at is £8100 and at 100k less on the clock is a bit better. It is however 7 years old this year.

New Paints on the Way

So after a bit of a hiccup not being able to log in I managed to get my order in. I was trying to work out what twelve paints I had ordered… I couldn’t get my maths to work out either… turns out I ordered two of the blue. I will see if they can swap it out.

New Paints

Now as some of you know by now, I only really use GW Contrast Paint. I did do a test run of the Army Painter version and had loads of problems with them reactivating so those were relegated to the occasional use pile.

I saw an advert for some new paint from Green Stuff World… their version are called Dipping inks… so me, being me I decidedto give them a go. Normal price is just over £5, I got them for £3.91 a pot… they arrived today and as you can see from the photo, cost wise they are good value…

Here they are dwarfing both the AP and GW pots. They have mixing balls already inside too.

Now if you remember AP paints were cheaper than Gw ones, but they did reactivate. So I won’t be jumping up and down until I have done a full test of them… so I was going to print some random miniatures, but decided to actually print something useful and went for goats…

I will get these sprayed tomorrow morning and then do a test paint and hopefully we won’t have any reactivation. I will do another set of tests, there are five goats and five paints. I went for five muted colours, they have a load and if these work I will see about buying some more brighter colours..

Fingers crossed these work as they are dirt cheap compared to the other two versions.

D +1

So we made it ashore and are breakfasting in Macdonald’s as James has never been in one. We had to be off the ferry by 08.00 but we’re twenty minutes earlier so mooching around the empty streets of Aberdeen until 09.00

Train to Glasgow is 11.45 so we are wasting time … about to head off into the busier streets of Aberdeen now.

H+3

So our adventure has begun, with the slight cock up of me leaving my phone on the kitchen table. Technically I could have got home and back to the ferry, but if there had been any delays then I would have missed the boat. Luckily my son has his, and after I added some credit then we are back in communication.

Anyway we did get a nice sunset as we passed between the Shetland mainland and Fair Isle…

Unfortunately James is feeling a bit under the weather, which is a pity as he used to have amazing sea legs.

Internet is a bit naff on the ferry so only one photograph…

New Parcel and Digger Fun

Today was digger day and it was good, but a bit stressful, fun. Fun because it was a digger, stressful in case I cocked up and broke it or dug the bucket in too deep.

You can certainly tell where I have been now, but it was a bit annoying that it had heaved it down yesterday so I was playing with a lot of water too.

I could do with a tonne of gravel to go into the few remaining holes, but that will have to wait.

Anyway after diggering I got to open a couple of parcels. The first being a new pair of shoes and the second being some bits and pieces of terrain…

Already have some of the Battle Systems terrain stuff, just never got around to building it or showing it off on the blog…
