So I suddenly remembered that there were two Catalucian officers sitting in full view and have been since… at least 3rd February… so this evening instead of the Samurai I thought I might as well get them finished to join the rest of them.
To be honest, nothing fancy. The one in green has a weird moustache and in hindsight perhaps a lighter colour might have been a better choice for it. I feel a colour change coming on tomorrow.
I spent the last couple of days adding bits of white to the undercoated then Contrast covered elves. This evening I started adding colour to them.
As you can see these are different to the others, the drummer is still a mystery to me. I actually think he is kne of the Ferach (French) elves. The shako cover really does make me think that… I just couldn’t be bothered to check it out. Well he is now in the pay of the Catalucian elves…
Hopefully I will crack on with these tomorrow. Luckily I am on my Easter break so I might get the chance for sneaky painting sessions during the day.
Well, these ones are Finished… However, I have another five to make a start on tomorrow.
All, finished
Once I have all of the Catalucian’s painted then I will give them all a varnish at the same time.
These are the remaining ones that need an undercoat.
For reasons known only to myself, I bought a drummer! The only thing I can think of is that I was meant to get a sergeant ir something from the command pack and ended up clicking the wrong thing. I just checked and I cannot find him anywhere!
This evening I managed to make a bit more progress with the Spanish, or rather Catalucian Elves.
Two grenadiers, two irregulars, two line and a light infantryman. Obviously these are elves, but I have tried to use 1808 Spanish uniforms for ideas… as an example the grenadiers and regulars should have white cross belts, but as they are fantasy, then mine have black.
I actually used Speedpaints for the purple, but as you can imagine I was super careful to make sure it only went where it should go, especially when the uniform was white. Obviously I could have chosen a whole host of facing colours, but I fancied purple.
I still have to work on the white on the uniforms, as can be seen on the grayish leg on one of the regulars.
Out of interest, Shetland had a bit of an unusual visitor in one of the voes near to where I live…
The above is a sperms whale and it is bloody huge, sadly, as it is huge, it shouldn’t be there. I took some better photos with my camera. I will share them on the Shetland blog when I get them off.
This evening I ended up late in, but wanted to do something hobby wise, in the end I decided to put some Flintloque miniatures onto some 2p coins and get them sprayed.
It might actually kickstart me into finishing the two officers, last seen in this state….
To be honest I am not looking forwards to the white uniforms on some of them. I am hoping the white Contrast paint will help.
I am going to get back into a kayak tomorrow evening at a pool session with the Shetland Kayak club, so the above miniatures will probably be started on Friday.
It wasn’t a bad evening on the way to do the horse…
Well sort of… yes I have nearly finished my 6mm Italian Wars Imperial Army… by nearly finished I mean I have one base to paint… but here they are in their all painted glory…
You can see the one still to paint on the right of the photo above.
A bit of a closer shot or two
As you can see from the photo below…I actually had some spares…
This isn’t including the damaged ones from the shed.
I will get the army varnished sometime soon and then add some bushes to break up the green.
If you think about it, this is a 500 point army with half sized Pike blocks… to begin with I nearly went for 1000 points…. eeek! In reality this is only two Pike blocks. In the rules they come in 8, 12, or 16 bases, with a skirmish unit covering the front bases and a Doppelsoldner base attached too.
And finally, this happened when I put the sand over the top of the Speedpaint bases…
Well this was a very long time coming, but I think, and hope, that I have finished the 6mm Italian wars troops…
This is the final twelve bases worth painted and covered in sand. I have eighteen other ones in this state that will need the bases painting.
I reckon the empty filament spool landing on the pikes really put a dent in my enjoyment of the project. I checked back through my blog posts and began printing in July at the very least. In September I began painting after my Irregular Miniatures arrived, to be fair it hasn’t been a constant run of painting as I lost heart after the splat of doom occurred.
Anyway I will paint up the bases tomorrow and put everything out together to see what it looks like. In all honesty most of them have sat in a box since they were painted.
You may remember that I halved the number of pike bases jn a unit. I hope it is going to look okay in the final army. Only time will tell to be honest.
I nearly put the end is nigh as a title, but it sounded a bit ominous… anyway this evening I did some more work on the 6mm Italian wars arqubusiers for the Tercio. As expected the Speedpaints reactivated, but I just plowed ahead regardless.
This is all I have left to do …I think and hope! The ones on the left are finished, apart from potentially adding colour to the plumes.
The eight bases on the right need hats and flags doing. Then this lot and will need sand adding to the bases before joining eighteen more stands that need paint adding.
That will be my 500 point army finished. I really, really hope I don’t find anything lurking somewhere that I had forgotten. 🤞
Remember this lady with the 5 o clock shadow… well I went to repaint her tonight and actually the grey colour was indeed just that, a shadow. Either that or some wierd light reflection from her grey fur… either way, I don’t care as she will do as she is.
One of these days I am going to boot the printer up and do some more of the Rohirrim, but probably not for a while as I have so much to paint as it is.
