Green Knight and a meeting of Arch Enemies!

Tonight I got a bit of work done on the Knight and entourage….

Still a long old way to go, but I am definitely getting there. I darkened down the metalwork, unfortunately I had to use Contrast paint and some medium to get it more like a wash than a paint and it seemed to work. I will work the highlights in when I next get onto him.

I found this a bit sad, when old arch enemies meet up and cannot settle their differences… it is a sad, sad world at times…

Sorry… couldn’t resist it! 😂

To make up for it here are a couple of friends getting ready for the snow rolling in…

We got about an inch of snow, the gritters were pre gritting at 14.00, by time we came back from the horse at 18.00 the snow had melted but had then refrozen and we were driving a sledge at times. Interestingly the took the 21.00 bus off for safety reasons which is fine, but did it at 20.50, meaning all those people who work shifts were stuck in town… sometimes you cannot make things up.

Green Knight… More Work Needed

So I did some more work on the horse and also another redo of the Knight. They, and the shields, got another coat or two of Green. I also repainted the metalwork on the Knight using a darker metallic to allow me to highlight easier.

I survived the first day back at work, not sure whether it was the water over there for my tea breaks, but flippin heck I have had to leg it to the loo a fair bit today (not that you needed to know that). It would seem that I won’t be having any kids in my school until 1st February at the earliest.

So I have it a figure order in for four miniatures as I heard that Alternative Armies have a super rare one that I have been after for ages… that New Years resolution lasted a long time didn’t it!

The Green Knight

Tonight I worked on the Knight and his entourage…

He is looking a bit shiny!

The horse trappings are two tone, not that you can see in the image above, but it is a bit more apparent in the next one…

I also picked up the Flintloque stuff I said I would buy off my mate,

I think there are a mixture of the deserter army and dark elf guerrillas and line troops (oh and a werewolf). I will get these stripped and add them to my pile of shame.

Covid News is that we have another three new cases and that three of the original 70 are now in hospital and are poorly. It does seem though that we are slowing and that people were on the whole sensible. One of My wife’s colleagues has it and although feeling crap they seem to be okay. They got it whilst eating in one of the restaurants I mentioned a few posts ago. On the up side we are still in tier three as we locked down and are able to do so…But we will now be home schooling until Feb 1st at the earliest.

Sisters and the Knights

Today I managed to get some work done on the knights and the Sisters. As it was bright I went into the conservatory and worked in there until the light started to fail.

Now as I have a lot of minis and a lot of paint I needed a system to get them from house to conservatory and back again… my good lady to the rescue…

A good while ago we bought this oven dish that didn’t fit the oven so, it is now my carting stuff about tin.

After dinner I managed to watch Coco a very moving tale about a small Mexican boy that wasn’t allowed music and at the same time I managed to get some more work done on the things started earlier.

I still haven’t decided on the colours of the actual knight yet. At this rate he Will end up being green just to get him finished! Hopefully I will come up with a colour scheme that I like. He was originally red and blue, but I don’t think that will work, or rather it didn’t last time!

Happy New Year from me and the Sisters

Well to start off: With ten minutes to go before the end of the year I just want to wish everyone who is reading this health, wealth and happiness from this point onwards.

I worked on the last three sisters today and managed to get them finished. So that’s it, the last thing I did in 2020 was to get them finished.

Starting the new year will be this fine fellow and his entourage…

Unfortunately he has lost his back banner, so I am not sure whether to print one or build one or say sod it and just fill the hole in his back.

So that’s it apart from pointing out that my pass the Pigs luck hasn’t changed…

Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves

As the famous song goes, I really wish they were doing it for themselves.

I thought to myself I would get this box built whilst watching Soul with the family this evening (awesome film by the way) and I managed to get one done and a small skull faced cherub.

Begone foul fiend of the nether wherever’s

These were kind of fiddly to do, my mate wanted certain ones doing which took a little while to find but the arms are in two parts as are the torso and legs. It does make a nice miniature though. Hopefully I will get the rest built tomorrow and undercoated the day after.

Totoro and a Two Legged Moose

Today my daughter wanted to do some drawing so we decided to draw Totoro as Studio Ghibli films are her favourite. I printed her a Totoro (which is evidently a mispronunciation of Troll) the other day. I need to get some Greenstuff on the drain hole on his head. Luckily I put it on the leaf so then I can make a stalk to hide it.

So anyway my pictures ended up like this…

As for the two legged moose… here he is….not sure what happened to him, but I really think I am going to cease printing for a while as it is very cold in there.

He really is a rather nice model, he comes with a female and a calf too. I might just paint him anyway and shove him in some heavy brush.

Dogs, Cannibals and a Vampire

So my doggies and cannibals came off the build plate…eventually. Bloody things were stuck solid. I really think I need to have a look at what is causing it (probably the build plate is scratched to heck). I am seriously thinking of getting a flexible plate cover. This way things should technically pop off.

Anyway, first up the dogs and cannibals.

I really do like the pack dogs 😀. The cannibals are quite funky too.

I also found my mounted vampire tonight, so I think I will paint him up the same as the one on foot. Handy for Skirmish gaming…

The horse is resting on a hair bobble, he hasn’t got a weird halo!

Slicing, Printing and Swearing

Tonight I got the last five cavalry sliced and onto he memory card to get printed, unfortunately the printer decided it was having other thoughts and then though getting stuck in the resin was a good idea. Luckily I managed to get the print head up and then cleaned off,of course then it decided to work perfectly.

So at the minute I am busy printing off two of the remaining five French cavalry. These two came off earlier this evening…

I also added some of my stuff onto the build plate too, I went for Glorfindel mounted on a horse. The horse is with one and he is with the other set. Hopefully I will get them done soon.

I will have to get myself sorted over the Christmas break and start doing things in an organised manner. Either paint or get rid of the printed stuff already done before I start printing more. I had to stop myself going for another Kickstarter as in reality I don’t need age of sail ships!

Printing and Painting

Yep, I actually got around to painting things this evening. I also managed to coax the resin printer into life to try some dismounted WW2 dragoons.

I sliced a pair and a couple of singles as well as the four dismounted types… you can see the times below. These are with 9 seconds per layer. First lot should be out around about midnight tonight.

As the title suggests, I even painted something today, not a huge amount, but any progress, however small, is still progress !

First off I got some more paint onto the traveller and the cat and then splashed some paint onto the Neolithic hunters…

Hopefully I will carry on again tomorrow and get some more done.
