Churchill have come back to say that Avensis was in the wrong and that they are going to pay the £307 car hire bill plus £100 to say sorry.
Bloody Toothache
My old tooth has decided to flare up again today, I got everything ready to paint things this evening, but I really couldn’t settle so put it all back again.
On the upside, we have eventually got our car back. Now to do a polite battle with Churchill to get them to pay for the hire car.
Kitty Nearly Done
This evening I got some painting done whilst listening to a presentation on the Luftwaffe over Shetland.
I dry brushed the bone on him and repainted the bits where I overbrushed…

I am a lot happier with the bone, but I still have a bit of a dislike for him. Not the model itself, just my painting of him. I really should have used a different colour for the cord holding the armoured plates together. I shall keep on faffing about with him and see where he gets to.
I got a bit more done on the right hand officer as well, but I called it a day after getting the gold done.
Kitty on the Move
I worked on the Sabretooth this evening, he is a bit darker than I wanted, but I will push on and see how I feel about it in a bit…

The bone armour is going to be lighter, but at the minute he is just a pile of browns and tans. I will set to work with dry brushing tomorrow.
I also did a smidge on the officers…
Nice Kitty
This evening I really just faffed about and didn’t get much done apart from the black bits on the officers and the base layer on the sabretooth.

A long way to go, but a start is a start. I am looking forward to doing my tamed smilodon.
Kelenken Finished
My meeting was cancelled this evening as only three of us turned up. I am so glad I didn’t stay in work though.
On the up side, I managed to get a bit of painting done…

Here are the trio of Kelenken in their sort of finished state. I decided to camouflage the chick so it is a bit tricky to see, as it should be. To be honest the chick is my favourite. I think it is because it is so cute.
I also made a start on the Alternative Armies Officers. Thirty seconds after painting the blue one I remembered that I was going to paint him and his troops with a red coat! He may get a clothing change!

Hopefully I will get some 6mm done tomorrow and also carry on with these two.
Terror Birds
It’s been a busy old day, so busy in fact I did around 12000 steps… average is normally 7k. I rodded the septic tank, flattened the track to the house at the worst bits and also repaired the door to the greenhouse. Not to forget mucking out the horse this morning.
In my busy schedule I did manage to get some painting done. I intended to do some on the terror birds as well as some in the Spanish officers. I gave up in the humans as I couldn’t decide on what uniform to make them. I therefore cracked on with the birds…

They all still have some work to do on them, especially the little fella, but progress has definitely been made.
These painted up really easily… I am rather pleased with how they came out. I am not sure how much I will get done tomorrow as I have a school parent meeting. It starts at 19.00 and can go on for a couple of hours.
If anyone knows of any good sites to find Napoleonic Spanish Uniforms I would be most grateful if you could let me know.
Here We Go Again
We had a couple of power cuts this evening, well the wind was rising over the afternoon and by time we brought the horse in it was pushing 65 mph. It threw me about and also sent a half ton horse shooting sideways by a couple of metres. Although as a community we are pretty set up for wind, there have still been some issues, we had a door give way. Luckily a couple of screws kept it shut. We also have a fence that has a wooden post that has snapped.
I wouldn’t fancy being on the ferry to the mainland this evening. We really thought that they would be off, but nope they are going late… the one coming North is taking 17 plus hours instead of the usual 12!
The power did come on at about 20.30 so I managed to get some painting done.

I did another skirmish unit for the Italian wars… it won’t win any prizes but it is done. Funnily enough these seemed a lot easier than the last set of three bases. I honestly think it was mental state rather than difficult miniatures. The 15mm monster hunter miniatures probably cleaned the palate for want of a better term. I want these finished and out of the way. I think the destruction of two Pike blocks put a downer on the whole project. I also brushed on an undercoat for my two ‘Spanish’ Officers as well making a start on the terror birds…

As you can see from the above photo, I have another set of three skirmishers ready to go. I made a start on the two Rohan characters a while ago and to be honest I really can’t be bothered with them. They are lovely miniatures, but I think that right now I need something that I can just slap some paint on. The Keleken will be ideal for that.
Nineteen Down
That’s it, they are all done …

I went for reds with this lot. They fit in nicely with the rest of them…

A very colourful lot… probably shouldn’t be as they are obviously skeletons. I wanted them to be different colours to allow for identification on the table… that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.
Whilst mooching about for nothing in particular I came across these rather old magazines.

The one on the left was quite appropriate for this evening’s painting session.
Fifteen Down…
Four to go.

As can be seen, I went for the green this time. Not sure what colour the remaining four shall be.
The astute of you will have notice the Yumi on the right hand skeleton has snapped off. I pretty much knocked it with my brush and off it shot never to be seen again.
The four remaining ones will bring the monster hunter forces to an end… then back to the 6mm Italian wars I think…. If I can face them that is.
