Skeletal Cavalry

Tonight I sat myself down and got to work on the skeletal knights. I fully didn’t intend to do a great deal. I stuck Men in Black on Netflix as some background noise and away I went,..

I got this far. Bridles, pennants, the standard and the leader’s scabbard to do. A bit of work on the base and they will be pretty much done.

Major Storm warning for tomorrow. Probably the reason for all the helicopters flying around with telegraph poles over the last week.

Ooooooh Something New

Well because I am a bit of a lazy BarStard I never got any painting done this evening. I did chuck more stuff around in the shed as well as download a whole pile of STL’s, but sadly no painting.

This came in the post today and it is lovely

Now way back when I started, I had a bit of a wall that was in front of a picture I had printed from the internet…

I liked this idea, but the picture wasn’t mine and I would spend a while adding who it belonged to. In time I stopped using it and went for just a plain background…

Normally it is the above bit of card. But now that I own the book I can quite happily choose one of the awesome works of art inside. Here is one of them…

There are 32 different ones in the book. They were all done By Jon Hodgson. He did the art for the first One Ring. I have been a bit of a fan ever since.

Building Some Ruins

That’s a bit of an oxymoron, but this evening I decided to put together this small corner ruin from Dark Ops. I have had this for an absolute age… so long in fact that they have stopped doing this range. So long in fact my Google-Fu failed to find anything about it. I wanted to see how to build it as it came with no instructions.

I worked it out eventually. I spent more time actually adding an upper floor to the smaller bit, or rather adding extensions to it. I also made a simple pillar with an upper floor.

I will try and get it painted before the game on Thursday.

Whilst sorting out in the shed I found a couple of computer games info/rules that I used to play a lot…

From what I remember the 101st one was a nightmare to win. Of the two Hidden and Dangerous was my favourite. I played it loads. From what I remember it also had a second one that I also had.

Sadly the days of books in games has gone.

Something a bit Different

This miniature has sat under my computer monitor for at least a year. I was sorting out today and rediscovered it. Therefore tonight I built it.

It was reasonably easy to build. Apart from the rear of it. Luckily GF9 have instructions online. It comes with a peg to fit in the base. I cut this off before I find the base in the printer shed.

While I was in there I remembered I had the Prodos one still in it’s box. Yikes, EBay has it for £40 at the cheapest. I reckon that at a conservative estimate in the four boxes I have I have about £160.

I will get back to the undead cavalry soon. Highland Miniatures is going Egyptian Undead this month.

To be honest, these may just sit in the folder as, although I am impressed by them, i really don’t like the Egyptian vibe. I have a whole art of undead, I don’t need any more. But I am seriously not going to quibble. The above cost me £10.

I Won Round II

I carried on trying to get the bloody battens up. The wall beat the drill bit and basically finished it off, but luckily for me I had some wall plugs and screws that meant the last one went up.

Bet you can’t see where the batten wouldn’t attach to any stone.

This evening I pretty much spent downloading my miniatures from my tribes and Patreon. Not going to print any, but I will have them ready to go when I want them.

When Walls Fight Back

Well I went to add the last three supports for the cladding and it all went pear shaped. First one went on fine, second one wouldn’t due to a. Finding only mortar between the stones and b. It was being a b*stard. I think one of the thunderbolts was bent. I eventually won, but it finished me off for the day. Hopefully the last one will go on without a fight, but I have my doubts.

The joys of a stone house built in at least the 1700’s. To be fair it has probably been rebuilt and altered a lot since then… never mind probably I know it has as my front door used to be the way into the Byrne.

One day I will discuss this further 🙂

I Peopled

This week I decided that I should stop being a hermit and actually get out into the hobby world again. I won’t lie. I really had to push myself to make sure I went. I actually went with part painted miniatures… which for me is really unusual. I wasn’t going to allow any excuses.

We had a bash at One Page Rules ´Grimdark Future.

We played a couple of games and by the second I was getting the hang of it.

So this is what I printed.

I eventually got the wheel to print. I found a random miniature to act as the third member of the crew. I found some suitable heads on a plastic sprue. The gun is really deadly when it hits something. Sadly I don’t know as I never managed to hit anything. The reason I know is that in the second game we simply swapped forces and I was on the receiving end. Here are a couple of in game shots…

This was pretty much my dice rolls in the first game!

A Night Out

Well, we went on a family night out tonight. To Begin with we went to see a Haunting in Venice. It was a jolly good film and there were enough red herrings to keep us all guessing. After that, we went out for a celebratory meal. This was because both my wife and eldest were successful at interview. We headed off to the Shetland hotel where we had an amazing meal too. So all in all a great evening, I then came back and played Baldur’s Gate 3.

Tomorrow I am going to head off to the club, about time I stopped being a bloody hermit and went off to meet people again. I know I said I wasnt going to print anything new, but I could really do with something to bolster my meagure forces. I am printing one thing (well it will end up as one thing) 🙂

Skeletal Cavalry

Tonight I did a smidge of painting…

I probably would have got a lot more done, but my eldest and I bought Baldur’s Gate 3.

The red one among them is for the vampire.

Archers All Done.

Tonight I decided to get these finished. It was really just the iron boots on them all and a blast around to try and hit any white spots.

I also sprayed the skeletons and rock chuckers. I think I will do the skellies first. I may have to support the horses to avoid the flexible resin droop.

Actually thinking about it, I have a couple of space frogs that I undercoated. So I might as well do these alongside the skeletons.
