Oh S**t

Tonight I decided to have another look at the white spotted miniatures… this is the number of affected bases I am talking about…

As you can see, there is the odd one or two. It doesn’t look that obvious from the photo above unless you zoom in. Here is a close up of one of the Aztec bases…

You can definitely see it in this photo🥲.

Not sure what to do with them… the whole of the mdf bases are white on the bottom. Pretty much all of these are based in a mix of filler, paint and PVA aka a total Sod to remove!

We are going to do our Dragon or Lion Rampant full day in July, so I will need to get my resin minis painted up. As the pikes keep snapping then I have ordered forty 4 inch metal pikes to replace the fragile ones.

Out with the Greenstuff

Tonight I decided to do some work on the market stalls… this involved Greenstuff. I filled in all the gaps I could and also flattened out the corners.

Everything is hopefully stuck down ready for spraying tomorrow.

I got a lovely parcel that travelled all the way from Australia. David aka Guru very kindly sent me some Flintloque miniatures that he had no use for…

The one thing I find quite funny is that these have travelled from Scotland to Australia and back again… I reckon these are the most travelled Ferach Elves on the planet.

Top Secret Project

Yes my secret project package has eventually arrived amongst other bits and bobs…

It isn’t exactly the largest package received to date….

Not very big at all

I am now off to have a look at the contents. I now have to decide on rectangular or circular bases!

Not quite sure why I think it is secret, but you can see it when it is finished.

It’s a Treeman

Yes my sneaky little picture fooled no-one! Yes my original 90’s treeman shall live again. As you can see he still is in his 90’s paint job…

I remember I was rather pleased with him back then… in hindsight the red eyes were a mistake. He is pinned this time and as can be seen, he is embedded in Greenstuff too.

He is now sprayed white ready for a new lease of life as an Evil tree in the Silver Bayonet.

I have also worked on the other two tonight, but really my heart wasn’t in it.

Ooh What’s That

So yesterday I did a pile of printing…

It’s my mates birthday at the end of the month so I have got him some market stalls for his Monster hunting games.i sad a couple of issues, fire off, the corner of the front curled a bit. So to hide it I am going to base each one and get some ground cover up to the edge. Either that or stick a box in front of it. Second problem is the thatched roof. It is meant to come in two bits but for some reason my printer decided it was going tombow each end… easy fix… Inshall ‘build it’ in the software and print it as one piece. I will still probably mess around with greenstuff with this one… always good to have a bit of practice…

I also did some pinning of a model that I have had since the 90’s I found it in a box and decided it would be ideal for the Silver Bayonet… can you guess what it is from?

Finally I have just seen a Great value kickstarter for anyone with a 3D printer. The kickstarter is there to support the people of Kharkiv in Ukraine. You can find it Here.

Silver Bayonet 2 & 3

Because I am a pillock, I totally forgot to do the write up of our second Silver Bayonet game.

This one had four revenants visible at the start ofnthe game. Luckily at rhe end of the first turn all my forces were out if sight so the revenants went off to annoy Joe on the far side of the table.

The thing about a revenant is it pretty much drops damage to shooting so although there was plenty the revenants shrugged 90% of it off.

Things did get a bit brutal on the far side of the barn…

Unfortunately for us we rolled a lot of double ones and in the end had seven revenants, one ghoul and one animated scarecrow. The game started with only the five revenants. Unluckily for Joe they all appeared in sight of his troops so he got the brunt of the monsters. Unfortunately for me the door to the barn was in the far side which allowed my opponent to nip in, kill the revenant and leg it. The animated scarecrow had a damage reduction of 8, which meant it was pretty much impervious to anything except fire which was a total bugger as neither of us had any!

I would like to say things degenerated into chaos, but I would be lying…it was chaos from turn one.

My supernatural investigator tried a mad dash to retrieve the artefact, but sadly the odds were against him and he couldn’t stop his opposite number legging it off the table.

After the battle my officer had to roll on the injuries table and relieved a permanent wound which reduced his health by one point. Joe had two put out of action but came through unscathed.

Tonight we tried scenario three and ended up hunting for a troll under a bridge!

It was a slow start with no-one wanting to get shot at, but eventually the bullets started to fly. The doctor was certainly busy on both sides of the table. My lady occultist actually managed to curse people and caused a number of Joe’s troops to lose -1 on all of their rolls.

Joe got to the bridge first and annoyed the troll… luckily all my chap’s were out of sight and the troll charged Joe’s investigator and swordswoman. Sadly for her she fell to the beast. The officer charged the troll only to find he forgot to light his burning torch before he charged and was splatted. Luckily the doctor was in range to revive him. More chaos ensued as eve everyone tried to either kill the troll or kill the people trying to kill the troll.

In the end the bloody investigator managed to leg it with another artefact. My shooting had him down to one wound, but the lucky sod escaped…. again!

In the end Joe had two downed troops and I managed to get away with light wounds. Both his officer and the swordswoman ended up with a permanent wound apiece. Both ended up with the jitters, this causes a -1 to their courage

We remembered a lot more of the rules this week, but forgot the -1 to shooting when you move and fire. We will get there in the end I am sure.

We had a good couple of games and are going to try and squeeze another one in on Friday.

Seek for the Sword that was Broken

So if you remember, I noticed that this chappy had a broken sword in transit…

Well today i had a go at fixing it and am rather pleased with the results…

It is a bit longer than the original. This was so that I could have two points of contact for the superglue. I drilled out a pilot hole in the sword and then cut a piece of flexible wire to fit between the hole and the plume. I then mixed up far too much superfine Milliput and set to work. Gradually I got closer and closer to the shape wanted. I decided to call it a day at this point and will sand it down tomorrow.

Next

My mate has asked me to paint up some more Flintloque miniatures … these are the first eight…

Sadly the officer top left has lost half a sword on the way to Shetland. I found the missing bit in the box. I doubt it will superglue back, well not without falling straight off as soon as it is bumped. So that leaves pinning or rebuilding with milliput.

I managed to get his miniatures all varnished and Sengoku game tokens done today…

BOFA Goblins Done

Well actually the title is a total lie, click bait has arrived in my Blog… the two I started are done.

Part of me wishes that they both weren’t wearing red, but in reality that is something that can be easily sorted with an overpaint. The other thjng that is a bit in the face are the straps on the arms of the leader. I may do something with them when I get the rest done.

I doubt I will manage any painting tomorrow as I am having another game of Silver Bayonet with Joe… hopefully my dice will be better in this next game🤞.

BOFA Humans

As i said yesterday, I was a bit lacking in the human side of the battle of the five Armies. So this evening I evened things up a bit and got these two done…

Tomorrow I hope to get some work done on the Goblins.
