So after faffing around for ages I managed to sit down and do some painting.
Here is my Priest of Sigmar for my Witch Hunter force. He has joined my flagellants on the nearly finished list.
I printed off most of my Reikland troops today. I may have forgotten to slice two of them as I only have seven miniatures. To be fair I didn’t really scroll through the drive slowly so they may be there. Either that or I saved them somewhere odd, which is more likely.
I am sat here listening to the wind driving the rain against the window… it is not a nice night. I believe the snow is coming back tomorrow, which will be a change from relentless rain.
Tonight I made a start on the Witch Hunters. I decided I wanted to finish the flagellants and apart from the base I managed it.
I also had a play around with Campaign Cartographer and managed to make a simple map… there is plenty wrong with it, the text being far to small for the towns to name one.
There is still a fair bit to do on this one, so I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the guesses what this is….
The circle of dots in the middle of each circle is the light from the microscope. I will let you know what it is tomorrow.
Well I cracked on this evening and got the possessed pretty much done.
I could do with adding a bit of shading onto the weapons. All in all I am quite pleased with these. I 3D printed a horde of skulls which I will add to the bases. I now have the ability to make my own tufts so I will see what coloured grass I have.
I also started printing some walls with railings…
I am rather pleased with these. Each section takes 1 hrs 22 minutes to print. I am thinking of going for a 3 x3 section which I will turn into a graveyard… the gateway below is from this set and to be honest looks too big, but I will see what they look like with it.
Today I sat and sat and probably sat some more looking at a blank piece of paper covered in hexes. I had a mind block that wouldn’t let me put pencil to paper.
I went online to look for inspiration and came across a web based hex map maker and the clouds of doubt parted and within minutes I had something I was happy with.
Ignore the dots, they aren’t part of it.
The above allowed me to get some ideas down. After I did this I made another one with farmsteads, a village and a ruined building in the wilds.
I also got some more painting done…
Still a long way to go but the white is beginning to disappear.
Tonight we nearly had a bit of a disaster over dinner. Expected at 18.30 eventually got to eat it at 21.00. For some reason the gas stove decided to play silly buggers and decided that it would only cook at simmer temperatures. Luckily the roast pork was already cooked, everything else had to be cooked very, very slowly. Thankfully this did not happen when the power went off. I think it is the valve outside the house as all of the rings etc were the same.
After dinner I managed to get a bit more paint on the Possessed warband…
Still a fair old bit of white but I am getting there.
This evening I actually sat down and painted things.
Vae Victus cultists with Duncan Shadow Beastmen
I fully intended to paint the Witch Hunters, but these came out of the shelf first. Not a huge amount, but definitely a start.
The FDM printer has been busy too…this is where we are up to on the fortified gate.
I am printing one of the tower roofs now and once the second one is done then we will be onto the gate itself. The roof of the building detaches… it also has a slot for a portcullis inside.
Hopefully I shall carry on tomorrow, but with friends arriving at four then it may not be a huge amount.
Yes I got these off the build plate earlier and they are now sitting with their undead chums talking about old times, in the case of Vlad… very old times indeed.
As you can see, my necromancer isn’t the usual run of the mill version. I can see why Vlad chose this one.
I was chuffed this evening that I had got the undead all finished, I counted them then counted them again and suddenly realised I was missing someone. Yes, as I hadn’t used my list again then I had forgotten to print one of the most important characters in an undead force… the necromancer!
I had a mooch about, in case I had one, I did but it didn’t appeal to me as it was a skeletal necromancer. I decided that I wanted something different so chose a female miniature to act as my missing person. I will print her off during the day… this is the horde as it stands…
I also sliced the vampire in his human form, you know in case he wants to pop into Sigmar Haven for a quick bite.
I never got the Reikland lot sliced as I was too busy choosing a necromancer. Hopefully tomorrow.
Well it is started if you class it as: ‘printed the first force in full’.
Here we have a Possessed warband. From left to right we have a Magister (leader), two mutants one with a tentacle and the other being hideous these two are your heroes. The remaining six are your rank and file. First up, four brethren- two with bows and two with hand weapons. The final two are Beastmen. One with an axe and shield and the other with a two handed weapon.
Funnily enough, the first fully printed force was the last one I planned.
Now I did cock up a bit with this force. I got to the end and realised I had forgotten to give the mutants a weapon… one ended up with a club and the other an axe. This actually bumped them over the 500 points.
These came from Vae Victus (the humans) and Duncan Shadow for the beastmen. The magister was the only one piece miniature. The rest were multipart kits.
Before printing I checked sizes with the Highland miniatures, the Vae Victus ones had their height increased to 110% and the beastmen by 130% all over. I wanted the later to be a bit more chunky.
As I type this I am printing a possessed creature. The original set had one in, but with a base cost of 90 and various mutations then it burns through a lot of start up points. It does mean though that I could have a bit of a swap about if I do fancy it in the starting line up. In Mordheim you take a panic roll if you lose 25%. As the force as it stands means I get to lose three before making that roll. If I put the big beastie in then I roll after losing two. The only person with armour is the boss. So the rest had better not get wounded.
Tomorrow I am going to finish off the Witch hunters then move onto the Sisters of Sigmar.
