So I was bored and decided to get the base on the cart sorted rather than leaving it… so here it is in its almost finished stage…

Really just the zombies and ravens to add to it.
So I was bored and decided to get the base on the cart sorted rather than leaving it… so here it is in its almost finished stage…

Really just the zombies and ravens to add to it.
So I was perusing YouTube and came across this video
Army Painter Development team or something like that.
Three of the four YouTube channels I watch regularly and all got sent AP speedpaints and of the three not one of them mentioned reactivation. I am in no way saying it was a set up, lots of other people got sent the paints too. I just find it interesting to see where this goes…
its fine though Vallejo are bringing out their Xpress range in November and they Don’t reactivate.
Since my initial problems with reactivation I have probably used my AP Speedpaints three times, only using the odd colour and now that I have a nice purple in my Dipping inks and I can get one in Contrast too then I think they will remain on their shelf.
So I eventually got around to getting a base started on the corpse cart…

I have got a couple of crows and a zombie to add to it as well as the completed skeleton signpost.

So as you can see I still need to add flock and tufts, but it is getting there.
So I got the skeletons with swords onto my few remaining round bases… well actually I had to take some minis off four bases to make the full twelve. I could have used 2p’s but was concerned that the weight of the coin might cause damage to the swords etc.

I also got the cavalry printed too… upon saying that. When I got them off their supports I realised that there were only five troops and six horses. There is a seventh horse. I am seeing if the female vampire from the Zombie dragon will fit on it.

I got a bit more done on the corpse cart too.
Today I worked on my undead cart. In this case i made a change from my usual painting styles. With this I undercoated black and then dry brushed white. This is something I did the early 2000’s using washes to go over a similar method of undercoat and dry brush. But never mind I digress.
I think this method really worked for this model. I am not sure that it will be my go to in the future, but who knows?
I am printing some more skeletons and ghouls. I might use it on the ghouls but not the skeletons as I want them to fit in with the previous parts of the army.
Anyway, here are a couple of of pics of the model nearing completion. Tomorrow I add some more colours to the bits I obviously missed.

This was painted using both Contrast and dipping inks. Hopefully by tomorrow evening it will be finished, varnished and based.
Well today was our first games day of two and quite a lot of us couldn’t make it for one reason or another so Sean and I had a quick game of Dragon Rampant…

Here are my undead forces in their nice movement trays.
Anyway I moved mine off the table and as it would be a faff to take Sean’s off and put mine on then we went with his. His undead forces were 34 points and my borrowed living came in at 32 points. I was holding a defensive line so most of the initial turns were his. This changed when he got in range of my crossbows. They fairly disrupted his left flank wiping out two units. The elves in the graveyard were less effective. They quite often failed their activation rolls and needed to wound on 5+ I threw an awful lot of 1,2,3 and 4’s.
Sadly he brought up his cavalry and I was forced to engage with my own…

This cavalry melee took most of the game with each of us pushing the other back, but never doing enough to remove a casualty. As this was going on my foot knights took on his command unit who had crossed the table.
His right flank pretty much crawled across the table as it was there that most failed activations took place.
I was beset by cavalry in my centre, a command unit on my right and a large force centre left. I did manage to hold the cavalry off, losing a miniature. I really thought that all was over when suddenly my dice rolls changed and over three turns had totally destroyed the cavalry. My spears wiped out the horde to their front and somehow my foot knights, now down to two miniatures, held on.

In the end the undead lost half of their units and a narrow victory was claimed by the forces of good,
Here they are arrayed for their victory march past….

It was actually a really tense game as I had to overcome a modified roll to attack the undead… quite a few times I failed. Thankfully the scary bit only happened when you were trying to get up close and personal… shooting was not affected!
Well sort of painting…
I decided to print my new wheels for the undead…

It is a rather nice corpse cart. I sprayed it black and then dry brushed everything white. I even got to open some ‘new’ white paint for the task.

So here are the bits in their dry brushed stage.

It’s the club games day tomorrow. My undead hordes will eventually get an airing

Sadly the extra undead bits only dropped on Thursday so there was no time to print and paint everything.
Oh woe is me, Henry has eventually given up the ghost!

Henry has served us well for twenty years. Perhaps we could have used him more. But we are now heading out to find his replacement!
Today I printed the NPC’s and whilst removing the supports I managed to rip the hobbit from his feet. So I saved everything, cured them and brought them into the house to sort things out.
As I picked one up it pinged out of my fingers and disappeared… this was what I spent twenty minutes trying to find…

The remaining foot is next to the pen point… yeah! Time to print a new miniature I think.
So these are the full group.

I will reprint the little dude soon.
I got the dwarves done ..,

And am printing this dude right now…

This is the body, it’s a bit larger than I normally do 🙂.
Addendum… why, when I need one miniature printing have I suddenly got half a dozen humanoids and a bloody big dog?

I eventually got around to glueing the One ring characters together.

We have two elves and a human. Two have their main weapon as a spear and the other as the bow. All are armed with a bow but only one has it as a primary weapon.
I am going to add in an NPC to allow the players to have only one travel task each.
It will probably be a hobbit or a ranger. As two are elves I will avoid a dwarf.
