Zoltan Joins In

Yes this evening I got the leader of the 666th line finished. ..

He was a simple miniature to paint apart from some wierd bits where his sword scabbard met his legs behind him. There was no gap there, just metal. I simply painted it in as his tunic.

I went for yellow on his eyes, added the pupil then regretted it… they looked brighter without the black dot.

When I got in from work I had a mess around with another couple of flags whist having a cup of coffee…

My mate can decide which one, if any he fancies.

And finally, tomorrow I start on these three…

They will need undercoating tomorrow morning, so hopefully I will get a wiggle on tomorrow evening.

Zombie Dogs with Flag

Tonight I got the officer and standard bearer finished…

As you can see, I knocked up some colours to add to the flag pole. To be frank, it will probably change to something a bit darker. I printed out the blanks and coloured the bits with a selection of Sharpies.

The part finished one is Zoltan himself. I will probably (hopefully) get him finished tomorrow.

My mate is wanting these in a winter theme…aka snow, but as a number are already covered in the Patchy plains base ready stuff then I will have to snow over the top. That is if I have any round and about. I will do it a bit like the lot below.

Zombie Dogs

Tonight I got a bit of work done on two of the Zoltan command miniatures…they are more skeletons than Zombies, but hey undead is undead…

Because they are Ostarian’s then they have white tunics, I would have preferred something a bit darker or at least coloured cuffs and turnbacks, but I went for the colours from the website images. I would imagine that once I get the remaining bits painted then they, like the two from yesterday, will grow on me.

Tonight’s Pair

This is a bit of a misnomer as these two got started a couple of days ago, but as I said last night I didn’t have it in me to finish them yesterday… sadly for me I left them at the ‘OMG these are so crap’ stage… there was more white left than looked good for them… but to be honest I am really pleased with them this evening…

The flag is one of the paper ones I did in about 2019 and is just blue tacked on just to see what it looked like. To be honest I have a selection to choose from…

These are the next three that I am going to get a start on. They are the command section of the 666th Zoltan Zombie Dog line.

My package from Alternative Armies came today, so I will show them off tomorrow.

Tonight’s Vampire is…

Count Valdimir Kustosov…

This one definitely looks more suave and sophisticated than last night’s one… well he is a count and the former leader of the tomb city of Czarlingrad. Altogether not a nice chap at all! I really like this miniature, which is why I have one too.

I have the remaining two infantry to do for the undead. I will then move onto the undead cavalry and finally the dogs. My mate has ordered another four or five so I will have a few more to do… I also ordered myself a few too as there was 20% off last month.

A Quick Vampire

Tonight my plan was to do a couple of the undead miniatures. Instead I managed only one and made a start on the second.

I did this one in a standard ‘Russian’ green colour…

I will get him and the other ones based properly this weekend.

I do like this miniature with his rather grumpy vampire pose.

Tomorrow I will get on with the second one, hopefully by bed time I will have him done and if lucky I will make a start on the drummer and standard bearer.

First of the Undead

Tonight I did the first of the undead. These are commissars of the KGB.

As you can see they look rather dead and are liche officers. The one in the middle looks a bit odd as he is an undead toad.

These weren’t too difficult to paint due to the minimal details. I actually used some Speedpaints on the coats as I wanted a different grey to the trousers. Needless to say I was very, very careful. Tomorrow’s lot will take longer as there are four miniatures with a lot more detail on each. Two are vampires one is a drummer and the last is a standard bearer.

Five Down…

Fourteen to go… as you can see I managed to get the paints and brushes out this evening.

I am doing these in batches of five (and a four). This means that I am batch painting tunic colours. The majority of these have the blue grey colour on them. It was meant to be all of them, but somehow I put the paint down, totally forgot what colour I had just been using and chose a blue instead.

I am hoping that tomorrow I will get some more done.

A lot of this evening was spent battling with the insurers. In my policy I get a hire car, the repairs were approved on the 17th and I am still waiting for my hire car from them. Evidently it is tough shit that I am having to pay for a hire car myself while they wait to find me one. Evidently they sub contract to another company tgst doesn’t have anything to do with Shetland and although the claims lass said that us it, your request for a car gas gone through, the other side are denying all knowledge. In case you are wondering… they aren’t going to pay for the one I am already having to fork out for. Time for a new insurer methinks.

Vampire Finished

Well I think he is… so I worked on him tonight. Darkened some things, highlighted others and then repainted different bits.

I am quite pleased with him, he is definitely a whole load better than the one that went into the ISO a couple of months ago.

I am not sure about the blood on the blade, but on the up side it’s the easiest of a repaint.

I enjoyed painting it, and on the up side my Mojo came back…

All Wight on the Night

So after sleeping until pretty much late afternoon I managed to drag myself out of bed and before heading back there I decided to try and get a bit done on the wights… I succeeded in getting some paint on them.

Not a lot to be honest, but a bit of progress is still progress.

Now one thing on these that is puzzling me is that there are radiating layer lines on the bases and on the miniatures themselves, I am not sure why. It will be a setting in the slicer, but as yet I am not sure what or why.

The printer is still Kerfucktenbuggerd as they say (or not say) in Germany. I have got onto Anycubic to see if they have any answers. Hopefully they will come back with one soon.

I managed to get a couple of sets of roads printed as well.

The roads are the six at the front, I still need more, but it’s a start.

So we have 33 tiles in the coffee colour and about 60 I think in the pink. Quite a little world so far.
