Mice in SPAAAACE…the final frontier

Well that’s them just about Finished.

A commander, squad of marines an a Heavy weapons squad.

These were quite a nice, fun set to paint up. If I had a criticism, it would be the mouse fur is a bit flat. Now a super artist would be able to paint the fur in, sadly I am not that man.

I could have painted up the flamethrower pipe a different colour (and still might) as I couldn’t think of a suitable colour.

Mice in SPAAAACE

A bit brighter than before…

Still some tidying up to do. Also a dark line around the armour joints and between the weapons and the hands. A brown wash over the gold would help too.

It’s about 25 years since I painted space marines, so I am not sure how to go about it properly.

The Werewolves were peering out of their box in a sullen manner. They were making me feel guilty!

I will have to get on with them tomorrow 😱.

US Airborne heavy weapons

Now with added colour

I got a few coats of colour on these.

I was lucky to get a bit of help from a small boy, who wanted a go with the airbrush.

The colour of the uniform is not exactly right, as there wasn’t enough in the bottle I was given. The idea is to use this colour as a base coat and build up from there.

I will get on with the Space Mice and Werewolves tomorrow too…I hope.

Mice in space…now with colour

I gave these a base coat of white with the airbrush. Then, as they were going to be purple, I mixed up my own airbrush paint. This was a little scary as it was a first, but it seemed to work. I ended up doing a few coats to get a really deep purple.

Tanks …

I am calling these finished.

They could do with some weathering, but as I don’t have the water slide transfers, I don’t want to weather the sides and then have a white shiny insignia sticking out like a sore thumb.

I finished the M4 , the tracks were an absolute swine. I could do with filling in the gaps with Greenstuff.

No exposed commander on this one as I am not sure whether it is to be an American or British version.

Tank Spraying

As I had the German tank airbrush paint…

I thought I had better use it

This is the second time I have ever used an airbrush and the first time was to undercoat some 28mm figures.

To be honest I am quite pleased with the result. All the non camouflage colours are still to do, but my mate is wanting them a bit quickish, so I will see if he wants them as is or finished.

The Dunkelb colour has disappeared in places, but they still look camouflaged, which is a plus 😜.

Werewolves…slow progress

Very slow progress

Subtle highlights on the green uniform and white breeches. Base coat of red down and white strapping painted in.

You can just about see the green highlights here.

Still a longish way to go. My paint brush looks like it is eventually giving up the ghost 😟. It wasn’t a Windsor and Newton super expensive one, but a cheap one that actually had a bit if a bend at the end. I found it really easy to use, but tonight sadly it started splitting down the middle as I ran it over the figures.

I reckon another couple of evenings and I will have these done.

On the upside, I found a regimental colours to fit the flag pole.

I may do another one, I have some with a full moon on, but they are the larger size version. The other option is to extend the length of the pole.

Werewolves a mini update

A teeny bit done:

I have managed to get the uniform green base colour on and the grey base for the fur.

I dithered a fair bit about the colours to do them. It was going to be a random mix of colours for the fur, but instead I decided on grey for them all. I will alter the base by adding different colour washes. Browns etc…whatever I can find.

If I wanted to add another unit I would choose a different fur colour to keep them separate.

later on…. an update:

I added the various washes and painted their breeches a very light grey.

The washes didn’t work how I wanted them to, but to be honest I will work from where I am.

I might repaint the caps as they are meant to be black…. however I do quite like the green.

Next Up… Werewolves

I decided on this unit.

Nine werewolves and a vampire officer. Normally the werewolves have a different officer, but as I had this one from the command pack handy I decided to save £2 and utilise what I had.

Once again I will be back to Russian Green with red turn backs.

I got some airbrush paint this morning too.

This is to paint up the three Char B1’s for my mate. Kind of useful colours for other stuff too. I also got some airbrush thinners too.

Zombie Dogs Go Wild

The Dogs escaped!

Well okay I tried to get some better photographs of them in natural light.

I enjoyed painting these and managed to get them done over three nights. I am definitely improving regarding the painting, but still not where I want to be… to be honest I am not sure where that is, but some people are amazing artists on the same figures, so perhaps closer to them.

A couple more shots from different angles…

I am not sure what to paint next, possibly the dwarves. These need glueing to their bases, as do the werewolves, but maybe I shall keep on with the undead theme. It’s not as if I don’t have a bit of choice with the unpainted undead pile.
