HEVC and the Fairies

Started on these this afternoon. I would have got further but we had an invasion down the chimney and I tried to find my booklet with the uniform colours on – not sure why….I normally just make it up as I go along

Random Musings

Having got a couple of awesome bargains off eBay recently I thought I would share my two pennothworth.

The stuff I got was a bargain in every sense of the word. I basically paid less than unpaintedprice for a good paint job and an excellent paint job. I really cant complain. I do like painting my own but for the price of £1 per figure then it was a non brainier.  However some of the Ebay prices are silly, do people not even look at the original price on the websites. Take a figure for Flintloque. A KGL trooper on Alternative armies sitting at £5.00 jump to eBay same figure £8.99 with £2.30 postage. Now some of the rare figures are going for silly money…well they are rare, but charging £12.00 for something still available from Alternative armies for £4.00 is really taking the pee a bit.

Strangely enough some of the expensive stuff are on for 28 days at a time (I have seen them for over 6 months)…someone is obviously an optimist why pay £!8 when you can buy it on eBay for £30.

I shall no doubt keep perusing to see if anymore bargains pop up. A huge orc collection went a few weeks ago for about £70 strangely enough an awful lot of £9.99 blister packs have appeared, but again the same would cost £6-8 and are still available from Alternative Armies. Not dissing anyone for an entrepreneurial spirit in the slightest, but it does just make me wonder how it all works.

Undead lancer

I thought I had better finish off my last lancer.  Shouldn’t really take that long. The problem that I am having is that the colours seem a bit brighter than the original. This could be because I undercoated in a different colour or added different washes to darken it down. We shall have to see what happens as I go along. That is the problem with painting part of a range almost a year after the first ones.

To be fair I only had three to start with, but still I did the newer figures I got first, rather than finishing off.

I do like these figures, basically as I played around as a Polish lancer and also I do like the static pose. Waiting for the order to charge. Although these are the Liteupski lancers, I went for a more Russian Green look. I painted up some other for a mate as a Polich lancer unit, so decided mine would be different. These four troopers are the bodyguard for my mounted vampire or mounted Liche.

Although I am trying to get through civilians from every country, I do really like the undead, which to be fair I think I have at least equal to the Ferach forces (simply because I had three of the Sharke’s rifles sets, so there are 30 straight off). Because I don’t have any Witchlabnds Ferach, my plan is that a force of undead have invaded South meaning that I can fight without the need for woolly blankets and fur jackets.

I still haven’t decided what to do with the Dark Elf Guerillas… I probably wont have anything else from Cattaluccia, apart from the Inquisitor. A conundrum I shall have to work my way through.

Been a busy evening

Managed to build a card house from the talented Dave Graffham, managed to put the roof on the wrong way round, but luckily the copydex hadn’t fully cured and I managed to get it sorted. I will be using it and the other few for my 28mm skirmish games.

I also managed to finish Goyah, I really like this set and am glad I bought it. Finally I finished off the 5 undead that have been sitting there for ages. Unfortunately I was in a ush with them at the start and instead of stripping the old paint off I just sprayed an undercoat on. Bad mistake, they lost a lot of details and frankly they look a bit pants. Probably the reason I couldn’t be bothered to carry on with them.

I suppose I had better finish off my last lancer sometime soon.

Little and Large

I painted these two a good while ago now. I really like the gnome – something I think we should have a range of… The Liche is a bit imposing, but a lovely figure nonetheless.

Staff officer part II

Managed a little bit more today on my staff Officer.

Background from: https://travelaway.me/whats-hot-this-summer-english-countryside/
Colonel Charles Augustus Makepeace spent years abroad fighting in far flung areas of the empire. Called back to fight the Ferach in Urop he arrived back with half a dozen halflings who unbeknownst to him has stowed away in the food lockers. Although found early enough to avoid starvation for the entire crew the colonel couldn’t quite bring himself to send them back.

They were distraught that the colonel was leaving them. After all they had promised to follow him wherever he went, well he thinks that is what they said.

The diminutive chaps always surround the colonel wherever he goes. They merrily gabble on in their ‘heathen lingo’ to one another and supply the colonel with a veritable banquet every night. When asked where they got such fine food they either don’t understand his questions or perhaps don’t want to answer. The fact that most camps, billets or lodgings often seem to be short of food are surely a co-incidence.

The colonel has to be especially careful with his Brandy. This he keeps locked up in a very strong chest. He does not want another episode involving his chaps from the HEVC, the goose grease and the general’s daughter. He would never ever live it down.

Bange and Oafson finished

Well that s my Trollkin officers finished. These are from a nice range of figures. I will no doubt, over time, have to get some Jäger to go with them. They are a bit of an army all by themselves, so reinforcements may have to wait. I went for this pair as they are limited edition, these might disappear, like some of the ones I want.
