Working on the Dwarves

Tonight was another evening of Dad/Daughter bonding. We spent most of this evening preparing for a new base move. This was moving into a more dangerous area so we needed to prefabricate walls and doors ready to get them on the ground as soon as we got there.

We survived, a few hairy moments but in the end got a new protected base camp set up in the Boondocks.

This meant that painting time was reduced. I still managed a small amount.

The clan colour for these is green. My back story for them is that they have a fungus in their caves that give the cloth a green hue.

As you can see, the berserker’s hair is now a darker orange.

Well, the long weekend is now over. I will have to drag my sorry ass into work. Made all the more difficult as I am one of only three schools on Shetland open tomorrow. Pretty much, the same number is open on Orkney, the rest of Scotland seems to be on strike.

I will try a bit more painting tomorrow..

Getting Hairy

Tonight my daughter and I were playing Ark again. Which mainly involved raiding Deinonychus nests for high level eggs. High level eggs means high level parents, who funnily enough object to nest raiding. Some extreme close calls occurred. We now have a hunting pack of six with more eggs to hatch. Next up… the breeding programme.

All I can say is thank goodness this isn’t Jurassic Park!

Because of the gaming I only really had a chance to paint some hair…

I will carry on tomorrow…

Vampiric Warband

Tonight I worked on the last three miniatures for the warband.

Here the whole force are…

There is only one vampire in the force so the winged one and the dire wolf are in the box. The vampire was an extra miniature and the wolf is a model ready for a points increase.

Had a hell of a day today, so it was good to have a bit of a relaxing painting session.

Vampires and Floors

Not a usual mix I must admit, but tonight I worked on these two. Mainly faffing about with the armour, but progress is progress…

I also made twenty individual paving slabs to make a floor. Don’t ask me why as I really can’t say. They were quite therapeutic though…

Now that I have the 25mm base unit I can knock one out in about 30 seconds. Sadly the rough chipped ones are the ones that cannot be seen. I will print a set out to see what they actually look like.

My original idea was to use the geometry nodes to make randomised tile patterns from the above. I might get round to it one day.

Mrs Bunny in the Fields

Tonight the septic tank backed up again so I wasn’t really I the mood to paint anything. I did however get some of my home made tufts on the Goonmaster rabbit.

I just realised there’s some paint where there shouldn’t be any!

I also had a faff around with blender. Sculpting this time. I thought Mordheim needs lots of fallen timbers… watch this space.

I Have a Door!

Or should I say…another door.

I am starting to make little steps into doing simple things. Each time I cock things up I learn something new…normally what not to do, but it is all a learning process.

So far I have made the two textured rollers, some signs and a simple door.

Sad but true, I am enjoying doing these. Not sure where I will go next, but if anyone has any ideas then please give me a shout.

I did consider a big double door. Something that will allow me to get the hang of the mirror modifier. There is so much to learn!

Something New

This morning as I was bringing the shopping in I slipped on the mud and sat down abruptly. As I was laden down with bags I couldn’t break my fall so bits of me have spent today reminding me that they existed.

Anyway enough of my whining. As I was on light duties I managed to make something else in Blender.

These nearly drove me demented. One is single sided and the other is double. At the minute I am trying to work out how to add a raised image… it is not going well!

If you hear a fell voice on the wind it is only me throwing a tantrum… again!

I Made Something…

And it works!

So on the left is the crazy paving effect and on the right paving slabs.

What is more weird is that I drew both of them in Paint and somehow in the magic of blender it has taken it to something 3D.

I will be honest they aren’t the most polished 3D printed thing ever… but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t super happy about them actually working.

Late Night Painting

Okay not too late, but I decided I wanted to do some painting before bed.

I went a bit mad with the blood effects earlier this evening. I had also redid the rust on the armour as I hadn’t stirred the dirty down rust effect. So although I shook it like mad for ages, the important bits were stuck to the bottom.

I added some flesh wash to the ghouls as they looked a bit naff.

I will hopefully carry on with these tomorrow on my day off.

Zombie Dudes

Tonight I worked on the five zombies. Now to be honest for speed I went for the ‘standard’ green zombie look. I actually wish I had gone more for the multi hued versions I did for my undead army as seen below…

This lot were obviously all buried at the same time and resurrected likewise…

I was hoping to get them finished, but they still need a bit of work. Joe is coming for another One Ring game tomorrow night so it might be Monday before I get them done.

While I remember the Big Fire Festival is Tuesday this week and it will be live streamed. Definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it before.
