Not the most grammatically accurate title ever, but flipping heck I got some paint on a miniature…
A down and dirty 25 minute (if that) paint job. Geek Club started again today and as our cupboard was a total mess I tidied that before starting my painting. Will it win any prizes, nope, but a finished miniature is a finished miniature.
You would imagine that after a week of the white stuff then I might have got a bit sick of it… out in the wild – yes! In the kitchen on miniature bases… not so much, but as I really dislike doing bases then … I might have to sit on the fence
So I forgot to take the photo at 15.00 today to compare the snow… this was taken up my track though!
Yes I know Halloween was a good while ago, but I needed a nice simple project this evening!
In hindsight I wish I had done the pumpkins over three bases instead of two… but I didn’t! Once the basing gunk dries then I will see how effectively it has stuck to the base and stuck the pumpkins into it. Again I probably should have glued these to the base and then gunked around them.
Ahhh well, time will tell!
I will be adding patches of grass in places with some tufts and some maple leaves… sadly I don’t have any pumpkin leaves 🙂
Hopefully I will carry on tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
Yes, the Flintloque miniatures are nearly done. I worked on them this evening again. Painted the base, did the rims, took the photo and then realised I had forgotten all the brass work on the rifle and pistols!
I will try and get it done during the day tomorrow.
I have a hospital appointment with a specialist on Thursday so it is a ferry trip down to Aberdeen tomorrow evening. I could have taken a flight, but this way it is cheaper for the old NHS… oh yeah and it means I get some time in Aberdeen.
I am going to see if I can find any model shops… not holding my breath as I haven’t been able to in the past.
This evening I decided to try and get some painting done on the 28mm Flintloque miniatures. I got a bit further than I thought I would… a couple are close to finished…
I will try and get a bit more done tomorrow evening.
Yesterday we had gales, today we had snow and for some reason strong winds about half four. My daughter and I were trying to grit the hill out the valley and we had to fight the shovel constantly as the wind was taking it.
Luckily we had a mattock in the back of the car (like you do!) because the grit piles were frozen solid… oh yeah the only shovel I could find to put in the car was a plastic snow shovel!
So with the wind and snow the kids broke up early for Christmas! I managed to stay home too, which was a huge relief yesterday!
This evening I managed to get some paint on the majority of my mates 28mm miniatures.
I also added some shading onto the blue flags I started a week ago … the following is the original photo… I forgot to do an update!
They now look a bit better. I have to sort out the highlights next.
With regards to the dog, she is bleeding again. About four or five times today. Not as bad as before, but enough to be worrying. Thankfully she is in the vets tomorrow. The drugs came today. There are no boats tomorrow so we were lucky there.
Come to think of it, there are no schools on tomorrow. We are expecting 80mph gusts so the powers that be pulled the plug on safety grounds.
Not really much done. I was going to undercoat the militia, but it was torrential rain and strong winds so there was no way I was going to go into the shed… wimp that I am!
I painted both flags in the same blue. This was with Army Painter standard acrylic. Some shading and highlighting will be required.
I carried on with the Knights and foot soldiers this evening. I just need to get the bases painted on the foot below. I have to finish Joan D’arc and make a start on another mounted knight and another banner bearer on foot,
I also got this lot done for my mate…
I still have to do the stems and then get them based up.
For these pumpkins I went outside my usual method and sprayed these black, dry brushed them white then added the orange. I actually did something different to my usual… I won’t be doing this regularly though.
In other news my new filament printer arrived today.
This evening I forced myself to paint something. I am really not in the mood at the minute. Ongoing health problems mean I am knackered and then I have had this flu thing…
But this evening I went for it 🙂
Mr Dwarf was picked up and added to the part painted pile. He is nearly finished… it has only taken me about ten months so far.
Hopefully I will keep the momentum going tomorrow.
Well we got the diorama finished and I got it delivered after school today. Here it is in all its glory.
The only bits of it I actually did on it were minor. Firstly I covered the whole base in watered down PVA after the kids left and second was using the rattle cans to spray things black and to seal the flock onto the trees.
