More French Knights

Should that be ‘plus de chevaliers français’? Anyway I made another six heavies this evening.

I am going to armour all of these horses with mail or plate armour. This will set them apart from the other lance wielding troops.

It will also allow them to mix in with others as they are all heavies. I will also look to add some visors in both raised and lowered positions.

Tomorrow I will hopefully complete the last half dozen. I won’t get much more than get them undercoated as I am heading South either my son to visit Claymore Wargames Show in Edinburgh.

We get the Ferry down on Thursday evening, spend Friday night in a hotel and then drive over to the show on Saturday morning, Hotel Saturday night then back up the road for the ferry on Sunday.

He wants to visit a GW shop as well as a Bird of Prey Centre whilst we are off gallivanting.

Chevauchée or Bust

So my light mounted archers are ready to head off into enemy territory. The Chevauchée was a raid to spread destruction, pillage and generally cause a problem for the enemy population. The raiding force would be designed to demoralise as well as steal as much as they could.

Civilian infrastructure and the general population were the target of the Chevauchée.  I am going to see what small farm animals I can find to hang from the saddles as well as sacks etc.

I also finished off one of my sci fi wasteland dudes as well as worked a bit more on the druid bust.

A Night to Swap Knights.

I was super busy this evening as well as the day so had no time to work on my knights. I therefore masking taped off his knight and did a white spray of the carapace.

We will have to use a Bush to paint the head white and again to paint the exhausts and weapon back to their original gun metal.

Back with the Knights

This time I am talking about posh dudes on horses. Yes my two boxes of mounted Agincourt knights arrived today. So after spraying the big mech knight I did a quick build of half a dozen heavies, as opposed to lights. My plan is for three heavy units and one light.

The one in the rear middle definitely has something odd going on with his visor. This came as a separate piece and maybe I have glued it on in the wrong spot, either  that or I accidently moved it before the glue set it in place.

One thing I haven’t noticed with the Perry plastics is a lot of flash (apologies for the naff pic). All of the human sprues had some flash where tye plastic has squeezed between the two faces of the moulds.

Top left and bottom right are really obvious here. On the other spue the torso top right had a huge fan  from the top of his helmet to the lower back.

I shall hopefully carry on with these tomorrow.

Building a Knight

So you would imagine this is some of my Agincourt forces. You would be wrong, this is a different kind of Imperial Knight.

I helped my son build his 40k version. This is one of a pair. It still needs it’s armour plates added, but he wanted these left off to paint the legs and weapons.

Second one will be done tomorrow. I have run out of metallic spray paint so we will need to do a run into Lerwick ASAP.

Building the desk 1:1 Scale

Ye God’s I am so glad I am nearly finished the desk. The conservatory was pushing 40°C today. I nearly gave up to be honest, but luckily I needed one more plank so needed to go into Lerwick. This gave me some respite.

I have got this far…

The tape is to hold on the semicircular profiled bit of dowel while the glue dries. This is there to avoid a hard front edge. The planks are still loose at the minute in case changes are required.

Very Hot

Flippin heck today was warm. I was having to do some DIY in the conservatory and it was 30°C in there. Outside wasn’t much better.

I am so not used to heat now. I am hoping for a cold snap when I go down to Claymore.

Not Feeling the Love

Well after going like the clappers on Wednesday and Thursday last week I am now not wanting to do anything. I did have a mooch at my STL mountain to see if anything there would jump start the creativeness, nope, not a sausage, not even a selection of new busts made me get interested.

I even looked through some printed stuff, but as they weren’t painted then I wasn’t holding our much hope there either.

It would seem that my Mojo has well and truly buggered off. I will see if I can find it tomorrow.

Renting a Server

Well along with painting and occasionally playing with miniatures  I do like a good game on the old console or PC. My daughter and I loved playing Ark Survival Evolved. We would go split screen on the PS4. Sadly since the new Ascended the older one has become a little unreliable.

We would get so far and then it would crash meaning our hard work would be lost. It would crash more split screen. Luckily the saveworld ‘command’ helped a bit. But it still put us off playing. I therefore decided to see about renting a server. It was a whole lot cheaper than I thought it would be. About £10.50 a month, we are going to give that a go.

It is rather nice to be able to play with the settings on what I want the game to be like. I bumped xp to 2.5x and taming speed to 3x so it isn’t an instant tame. Next I am off to track down a snowy owl, last two attempts failed as my tranquillisers on the weapon I was using had an 8% chance of death…

I did manage to tame my daughter a high level Argentavis for when she gets on.

I know I am sad, but it stops me running around the house when it is raining outside 🙂

My current map …

Lion Rampant

Well we had our four players game of Lion Rampant today and I Need to say a big thank you to Mike for organising it. We managed a  couple of games. As overall commander in both of them I won one and just lost one.

Game on we had to take the bridge and were pipped at the post by some foot sergeants holding it for long enough.

Game two was a bit more worrying, me versus three and I had to hold another bridge.  I managed to totally wipe out one of the players directly opposite me, but lost both my mounted and foot men at arms, oh and my general too. Luckily one of the opposite number was actually a turncoat and helped out by destroying a lot of my opposition on the left…phew!

A couple of fun games over the day.
