Well I am still alive and kicking, but a bit feeble on the kicking side.

Still off work and down to half pay now. I was improving but have now hit some kind of plateau. On the upside I am not regressing, on the down side I am not improving in terms of the fatigue. As I am 59 retirement is becoming a possibility. I just have to do the sums.  So what have I been up to.

Well not much to be honest. Mainly spending my days on the console as it is keeping me sane.

I have managed a bit of building and painting…

I love the horse, but dislike the rider.

My Imperial forces for the Italian Wars are slowly getting there…

Managed to get a map of Northern Italy  from the Game ‘All is Lost, Save Honour’  made some buildings and defences too…

One day I may actually get to use them.

Writing is still a bit of a chore, but I will try and be a bit more regular with my posts.

I am hoping to get to Claymore with my son again this year. I better be able to as it cost a bloody fortune.

  1. Good to hear from you again! I’ll raise a pint in hopes that you conquer this plateau!
    Side note. I hear you on being 59 and looking at retirement. Last year I lost my good paying job at 59. Trying to find a new job at this age is impossible. So when I turned 60 I picked up a part time job at the local grocery store. Low hourly pay, all physical labor, but it’s kept me from tapping into my retirement savings in a significant way. The plus side, I get out of the house, have pocket money and interact with people in the real world. The down side, tired all the time, feet hurt, and I’ve hit some major hobby ruts. I guess what I’m trying to say is that when you’re ready, a simple part time job might help.

  2. Good to see you post, Steve! 🙂 Sometimes the decision to retire can be tricky, but you’ll know how you feel and how things stack up (sensible words from Eric though)! Nice work on the bits and pieces you’ve got done though!

  4. Very sorry to hear about your health issues persisting though I’m glad you’re getting better as time goes on. I’m also glad to see you’re still hobbying when you can too. That Warhammer sculpt is a classic and you painted it up nicely!

  5. Good to hear from you Steve, I suppose the only consultation is that it’s summer, i feel that if you can do a bit of the hobbying you are on the mend 😉.
    It’s freezing down here all of a sudden as we were spoiled having a warm autumn but I remember you saying 0 Celsius is pretty weak on the cold scale😅.

  7. Good to see you popping your head up above the trenches again. I’ve a few weeks off now, and my eldest is back from uni (after a nightmare journey back for us both on the ferry up), so we’re hoping to get some painting in (starting tomorrow). Hoping you get past that plateau soon!

  10. It’s good to hear that you’re still kicking and even keeping on with the hobby.

    Good luck in finding a path to retirement. My father-in-law retired in his mid 50s due to an MS diagnosis but fortunately for him it’s been extremely mild and he’s been able to do loads with his retirement. It sounds like you won’t quite have that luxury but perhaps reducing your work will enable you to do more with what energy you do have.
