How do you relax?

So I have two main ways to relax.

First up is my painting of miniatures etc. Although frustrating at times I do find it relaxing. I switch off and push paint around on a model.

Second is gaming, mainly through technology but also using miniatures. I tend not to go out much so the technology side is winning at the minute.

Technically reading should be in there too, but I tend to use audio books more than using my eyes.

Funnily enough I don’t find my 3D printing relaxing. Interesting yes, relaxing…no.

  1. My wife would say I never relax and she’s always right! I think I tend to do things that I would describe as absorbing rather than relaxing, so keeping my mind active to some extent. So painting minis and having the odd wargame are in that category. Reading is as well, since I’m having to absorb what I read. I like sudoku and logic puzzles. Probably the closest I come to relaxing is putting on my headphones, closing my eyes and listening to music, but I don’t do that often, probably because it stops me painting, wargaming, doing sudoku etc!

  2. Painting is sort of relaxing though frustrating at the same time, I’d say sailing my boats but the truth is nattering to other people while our boats bob unattended at the edge of the lake is probably nearer to the truth of that.

But if I’m honest my all time favourite way to relax is having a bath, sounds a bit girly (I don’t have candles and all that malarkey) but I do my best thinking in the bath, if I have a problem or a tricky bit of a model to do I often have a bath and think through how I’m going to do whatever it is.

    Cheers Roger.
