So after 68 days straight WordPress kindly decided to reset my streak back to 0. Hopefully this will reset it back in my favour

That is annoying! Hasn’t happened to me in my current streak yet, but last year I was often getting messages telling me I was on a streak of 3,4 or 6 days when I had just posted for the first time in 5 days. I try to schedule my posts for the same time of day to minimise this happening, but it doesn’t always work.
