…as the song goes. Here it is all about the bases.

I am printing all sorts of bases for the Nid Army and for my Son’s stuff too.
Not bad an hor and twelve minutes for eighteen 25mm bases – there would have been thirty six of them, but some pillock forgot to hit go on the printer!
I also undercoated the beetle etc that I showed yesterday.
Just plain base tops? Do you ever print textured base tops? That would be on my short list if I got hold of a 3D printer.

I have plenty of textured bases and just ordered a pile more through a kick starter. But was wanting something simple for speed. These print upside down so no supports needed. I suppose the other problem with textured bases us that random figures might look perched on a textured base. The Spyre Hunters came with their own bases and had slight indentations for their feet.

Yea, you can’t always count on the base working with the mini. Even with simple bases, I’ve ran into that. My favorites so far are the flat disc bases that come with Frostgrave. They allow me to glue a washer underneath for magnetic storage and they also have a slight texture on the surface. I also really like the Renedra Cobblestone and Dungeon floor bases. They are flat enough that you can get just about any mini on them, and also provide some visual interest to the base.
