So after getting lots of paint on this knight I have decided to keep going on this one, but will then paint another one using a darker red and lighter black which is more like my original kit.

The other thing is, my crest is a Northumbrian Boar. One of the helms actually has a boar on it… I chose bull horns for this one. So all in all, a new knight is being printed. I have added a couple of foot soldiers to the plate too.

The other thing I am printing is some Wargames Atlantic Ikko Ikki. I decided to join them on Teams for a test period.

They do have some nice stuff… it’s a lot smaller than most things I have already, but that’s the beauty of 3D printing. From what I remember I basically need to increase x and y by 105% and z by 110%.

I will finish painting the above before starting on the next.

  1. Very nice! Brings back Old Hammer memories of my first Warhammer army, the old Bretonians.
Question for ya. You are much more experienced with resin printer than I, and seems to be able to print at will. I’m 6 weeks on with my new printer and continually have issues with prints not releasing from the FEP, the only solution I’ve found that works (once I verify level and correct the exposure) is to completely drain and clean the vat, then give it a good coat of Oil with a PTFE component, that will last 3-4 prints, then failures come back. Do you run into these types of problems as well?
    Cheers!

    1. I was just thinking, how much are you putting on the plate. Sometimes if I put too much on and the supports meet I get failures. Check how tight the FEP is, even new ones can have quality control issues. edit: I went to check on mine and had a pile of failures. so after draining and cleaning the tank I realised that the FEP wasn’t as drum like as I expected. I flipped it over and about half of the bolts needed a half turn, some even had even loosened to the point of being almost out. I have never noticed that before.

      1. I didn’t mean to turn this into a long winded discussion about 3d resin Printing, but we are hobby nerds! Anyway, I have been playing with exposure times, bumped my supports up from light to medium and re-lubed the FEP, and my overnight print was successful.
I’ve had failures on full and nearly empty build plates, it may be that I got defective FEP, or it’s not as tight as it should be – that I will check as soon as I get more failures, at the moment, I’m eager to slice and put some more models on the printer while it’s playing nice!
