Mizzy Update

Well that is me technically done with my most amazing little school. Technically because I am still the principal there until August 12th. By amazing I mean the most awesome children, parents and staff. It was really hard to step out of the door for the last time.  The last six months have been a nightmare roller-coaster of emotions with today being a bloody nightmare. But you are not here to listen to me ranting.

I really couldn’t be arsed to do anything this evening, but forced myself and managed to get some more done on Mizzy.

There is definitely less white showing now. Really just the hair and device as the main bits and the metallics and corks.

One thing that struck me this evening was that I was worried that I was wasting paint. But then it dawned on me that I am putting one small drop of paint and about 4-5 times the amount of medium.

I reckon I will get her finished sooner rather than later… well plucking up the courage to do the eyes may take a while, so look for July 2025 as a rough plan.

Mizzy’s Bow and Bottles

This evening I achieved a little bit more on Mizzy. I got her bottles and bow started.

I am thinking of leaving the bottles as they are and working a bit more on the bow.

I also plucked up the courage and did a bit of work on her lips.

I bought the AP Thunderbird Blue a good while ago because I thought it was a nice colour. It worked well for what I wanted here.  My first thought with the bottles was to have two different colours, but I bottled it, no pun intended.  I just didn’t think I had enough ideas on what two to choose that wouldn’t spoil the overall effect.

Today I have evidently made my 90th post in a row. 10% of my longest run, but hey nearly three months of daily posts.

Mizzy Layer Three

This evening I got the third layer done on the bodice and am now happy with the colour.

It is definitely different to the waist now. So I would say that is a success.

I will hopefully get the bow and bottles done tomorrow.

I am eventually going to have to tackle her face. I am slowly running out of other bits to paint.

Oh and WordPress has done the same again. I went from 84 posts in a row to three yesterday. Not sure if it is WordPress or actually Jetpack… whichever one it is, it is getting bloody annoying.

Mizzy – Two Layers

This evening I did the second layer on Mizzy’s leather top and glove.

You should be able to notice the difference even if the photo on the right isva bit washed out.

My plan is to do three layers in total. Hopefully that should give a real tonal shift from the waist.

I was going to do the two bottles on her belt, but decided against it as the bodice was still wet. That would be just asking for trouble.

As you can see, I did a smidge more on the 28mm miniature.

Back to Mizzy

Well Mizzy and I have made up and I did a bit more this evening.

Now her top looks very similar to her waist. It is a totally different colour, but as the paint was so thin then it will take a few coats to darken up. I used Vallejo ‘copper brown’ and ‘ork skin’ this evening.

I am really liking how this coming out. Eventually though, I am going to have to bite the bullet and do her eyes!

A Busy Boy

Well after a totally Shite day work wise I came home and decided to be productive.

This lot are now finished, apart from some form of symbol on the two banners and shield  (oh and the green one needs a shield).

I know green is a bit of a rare colour in these kinds of fantasy miniatures  but this isn’t Brettonia so the green rule doesn’t apply. Interestingly enough after the 13th century green was actively avoided into the 15th century. It came back in the 16th, long after people had the need for it on a shield.

So I had a mooch about and got out the medievals I could find…

I might actually have more somewhere.

I now need a lot more commoners!

Actually to be honest, I really need to ask myself… do I really?

My original plan was that each knight had ten to twelve foot. So I would need about another fifty or so to paint! Obviously if I have some unpainted ones lying around then I will get them done.

I also painted some 6mm ork chariots and did a bit more on the bust. I tidied up the painting  cupboard and made another covered (Duck tape) cat food box to store some extra Speedpaints in.

Scouts Part II

Well it is probably ‘Scouts Pary IX, but never mind I managed to do a bit more on them.

So that is all the cloth done. My original idea was to do a green blanket, but as I had the black lotus handy I went with that. This is the colour I did the trousers in.

Still a long way to go, but getting there.

I have got some ideas for the chapter name and had a mess around with a battle cry and motto in Latin.

Working on the Scouts

This evening I got all the pallets I had undercoated black ready to become some form of cover. I also found my next abandoned vehicle…

This will have a tarpaulin over the front to hide the windows which are solid. I can fit three pallets in the back. I have six sacks and six liquid chemical of them as well as five covered ones that need curing.

So onto the scouts – they all have their armour done. Next will be the cloth, backpack and pouches.

I am also in the middle of printing the last Marine as well as a captain and psyker for myself…I thought I had taken a photo, but evidently not.

An Abandoned Vehicle

I spent some of today building my TT combat MDF stuff. I will discuss this in another post tomorrow.

So I got the lifter finished this evening…

When I say finished, I think I may need a bit more rust on the side panels… I evidently forgot! As with the combined harvester, this has a skeletal pilot.

I also got some more done on my scouts…

I will hopefully carry on with the scouts and MDF terrain tomorrow.

My Colour Choice

So this evening I got my son’s scouts finished and undercoated

I also had a little time to try out a colour combination on my scout …

I think it will work… well it had better as I have gone for yellow paldrons on all of them

I will hopefully carry on tomorrow evening.
