More Painting

Well I got some more paint slapped on the metal commanders this evening…

Not particularly happy with the black and white. I was using ancient white paint, and to be honest it needs binning. It has had so much medium in it it has started to reactivate the paint underneath. The blaze and stockings on the horses are in fact pure white… as is the bridle on the left!

As it was so crap I opened up a brand new Corax White. I mixed it for bloody ages then dropped the sodding pot…sadly this happened!

This is seriously a newly opened pot that I stirred for about 5 minutes. I did think that after I dropped it then an air pocket or perhaps forcefield had stopped the paint escaping.

I mean I really should have guessed that it was crap when I saw the solid lump of paint inside.

Adding More Colours

So Jean, La Hire and the Bastard of Orleans had some paint splashed on.

So La Hire and the Bastard have their surcoats visible. La Hire is black with white grapes and his comrade is the blue with yellow fleur des lilles with a white bar…. see I did find out 🙂.

The metal was a bit bumpy so I went  for pretty much covering the lot and I will go over the raised details with white when the base colours are dry.

Joan and a Trick Cup

Well after languishing in the doldrums for a while I decided to attempt some painting this evening. Not a huge amount, but at least something. I am finding I don’t have the energy or head space when I get back home so I have been on the console faffing about on Ark, and I mean faffing. I had so many plans to do or make things but really cannot be bothered.

So here are the metal trio.

Jean D’Arc will be in her white armour with blue trappings on the horse. I will have to find out the heraldic colours onbthe other two. I will rephrase that… I want to find out the heraldic colours. To be honest I could have painted them green  (seems to be the random colour of choice with the plastics).

As for my trick cup… one of my kids put it in the microwave….

Might just keep it for guests I don’t like 😉.

I will see if I manage any painting tomorrow.

A Bit More Painting

This evening I decided to do another half dozen cavalry. Ended up finishing them all off. For some reason known only to myself I chose another shade of green. I have 48 paints right in front of me, plus about another 30 nearby and I choose bloody green!

Ah well, here they are…

So we have half a dozen heavies and half a dozen mounted archers.

I will try to get a bit more done on the plastics tomorrow. Might even make a start on the trio of metallics.

On the home front I undertook a twenty minute job of putting up a wall cupboard that shockingly took twenty minutes to do! That has to actually be a first. I actually knew where everything to do the job was too.

It is Alive….

Alive I tell you!

So yes, I am back… trying to get a handle on the hobby side of things. I am ten days into the new job and boy has it been a bit of a roller coaster of a ride so far. I have really not felt in the mood to even look at a model let alone pick one up.

But tonight I managed to slap some paint on a few more horses….

As I have mentioned before, green is generally not seen as a heraldic colour before the 16th Century. It did exist, but wasn’t common. Some of the above hadn’t got the memo!

Hopefully I can do another half dozen tomorrow evening.

Painting the White

I decided I needed to get my backside onto gear even though I couldn’t be bothered. I am choosing random knights and painting the horse tack with the colour I had on the pallette.

I decided to pack in when I totally messed up the red bridle in the middle. For some reason the red just went everywhere. Eighteen more to go and lots of colours to choose from. These will be quite colourful (and shiny)

Final Manes and Tails

Well my new job started yesterday and I needed to get some painting done this evening too. So I decided on the remaining horses. Not many but enough to get all the long flowing bits done on the plastic horses.

Next up will be repainting some of the bridles etc white. Well, on ones that are going to be brighter colours.

Manes and Tails

This evening I blasted through the dark manes and tails on the horses.

I still have the lighter ones to do, eight of the plastics. Then I need to make a start on the metal ones.

Fifty Shades of Horse

Well OK… Twenty four  shades of Horse.

So that is all of the Horse skin done, still the hooves and manes/tails to go. For some reason one of them has gone a bit blue. I will put a grey wash over it tomorrow and see if that  helps.

The command section still needs to be undercoated.

I had a cunning plan yesterday, I still have enough knight parts for six more heavies. They just need horses. I can get six mounts as separate sprues from Perry Miniatures, but as I supported Wargames Atlantic think there are some suitable horses I could print….Time to head to the Computer!
