Tonight I worked on the frogs and got a bit further forward.
I an really pleased with them apart the light blue one at the front. I went with yellow spots, but really don’t think it looks right. I might just repaint him yellow, as it would work with the red.
Well okay that is a massive over exaggeration, but I have to admit that these are probably the brightest things I have painted since the Imperials from the Italian Wars.
The really pale blue isn’t really working so it is either another colour over the top or another coat or two. I have yet to decide. The unpainted one is there as I didn’t want the paint to run into the wet blue.
I also worked on the tusks on the big beastie. Not perfect, but better than the very first attempt…
I didn’t actually get anything done apart from glueing things to bases.
I have had a bit of a bad week at work and then my daughter had a major episode this week with her Autism… my wife and I are pretty much wrecked now. One week to the holidays!
Here is my Froggy force minus the painted ones…
There is a further one at the back of the photo, but I don’t think he would survive a gaming regime.
The other thing I did was do the shaman complete with his false beard.
The more astute of you will realise that I cannot count. The two goblins flanking him are from the frog herders. However I felt that they had a more shamanistic look about them with the funky masks.
This evening I had guests over. My sister in law and her partner were up visiting from England so I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked… in reality I got more done than expected. Expectation was zero.
I had put a number of layers of the dipping inks on the red armour. It stopped working like it should so I decided to try a bit if glazing and badly executed edge highlighting. Unfortunately my red was of the vintage of the orange and yellow!
Tomorrow I go over the lacing in white then choose a nice contrasting colour to go over it.
Ye gods I am tired today… I took one look at the painting desk and yawned ‘naaaahhh’. I didn’t sleep too well last night and have had a full on day today including visits from councillors as well as the head honch of the education department.
I did remember to take a photo of the Goblin on the swamp beast…
I do like him, but there is something not quite right colour wise, I just cannot put my finger on it. It might be the armour or it might just be the colours on the beastie.
I do think that I need to do something about the beastie’s teeth and get the eyes filled in too.
To be fair to myself I am painting these in school, without my brushes and without a wider selection of paints.
Well all schools were off today and I was on Child protection training all day. My daughter and I were going to do some more stuff on Ark, but sadly it needed a 7GB update so I painted while we watched ‘The Mitchell’s Versus the Machines’.
I would have got a lot further but my good lady forgot to turn the bath off. Water intake outpaced the overflow and to cut a long story short we have no dry towels. On the upside we have a concrete floor under the Lino and it is a single story house.
So back to the painting I eventually went. I managed to get this far…
Still a long way to go, but getting there, with these three anyway.
Snow is still here and the temperatures have dropped way below zero.
