As Expected…

I started on some goblins… so as I had these undercoated it wasn’t really a difficult decision …

Now I would have got a whole lot further if I hadn’t have got extremely annoyed by the Aggaros Dunes Contrast paint which had turned to a treacle like consistency. After a bit of swearing this happened…

I was only going to do the Aggaros Dunes, but it was quite relaxing. In the end I had managed fifteen bottles. I basically did what I had in front of me.

I bought a whole box of twenty mini funnels, however I actually only used two as I was doing it at the kitchen table and I was right beside the sink.

I still love my Contrast paint, but as I said in an earlier post I am not so happy at having to dump a pile of paint at £5 a pot.

Hopefully I will get more goblins painted tomorrow.

I hope to also decant some more paint into the bottles.

Skeletons Finished

Well I got my arse into gear tonight and finished the skeletons….

I am still in two minds whether to add rust to these or not. I didn’t on any of the other ones in the army so perhaps not.

In the same box as the skeletons I found a dozen ghouls … I might as well do these next…

I will keep you posted.

Skeletal Swordsmen

I decided to get the metalwork done on the Skeletons this evening.

I mainly went for an iron colour. The sword cross guards and leaders’s breastplate were done in bronze. I actually nearly did the whole lot bronze, but didn’t as I felt the swords didn’t look Bronze Age! I am happy to accept (or suspend belief) to allow for ambulant skeletons… but couldn’t bring myself to paint a fantasy sword the wrong colour!!! I need help, I really do 🙂

Tonight after fighting for an age to sort out the videos for the Jarlshof trip it turned out I wasn’t allowed to upload to WordPress. It seems like there is a limit of one. .. even though it said no videos allowed. There is a super simple fix though… send them £120 including VAT and all my video problems would disappear.

Fair enough, I thought and added my videos to YouTube. Now I get that WordPress is a company, but does it seriously make a difference if I fill up my 3gb with videos or photos. In my mind letting me fill it up with videos would mean I have to decide earlier to pay or not.

Yeah I know it is probably more complicated than that, but I am cross and not willing to cut them any slack.

Foot Soldiers

This evening I got the part painted foot soldiers finished…

Now with these I did cut a few corners. I didn’t bother doing every strap and piece of rope. But they are done and that is what I am wanting. I don’t think I have any other Gallian’s undercoated.

Tomorrow I think I will blast on with the Part finished skeletons i found when looking for my big Sharpie.

A Pair of Knights

Tonight I got the two knights finished … well I still need to do a shield for each. But the bulk is done for this pair.

I also got a bit done on the foot soldiers…

These still have a whole load to do, but at least all of them have some paint on them.

I am going to have to print some shields, even though I said I wasn’t going to print anything new for a while… I need the shields to finish these.

A Knight and a Goblin

So this evening I set about adding the metallics to the knight and his pair of foot soldiers. I got a bit heavy handed on the gun metal so looked for anything I could to avoid wasting the paint. I found a box of various bits and found my armoured bear and a couple of goblins. Basically anything that needed a metallic colour got some.

I will hopefully carry on tomorrow and get the shading and highlights done on the armour.

This weekend I am embarking on a project I never though I was going to do…

I am super annoyed that a whole pile of my Contrast Paints have dried up. I maybe haven’t used them for three months and I am going to have to bin a lot.

I used to say I preferred the pots as you can shove your brush in and get the amount you need, but at £4.50 a pot I reckon I have nearly lost £50 worth of paint. Pretty miffed about it to be honest.

So watch this space and listen for my fell voice on the wind as I drop pots, knock over bottles etc.

A Big Mouthed Frog

This evening I set to work with the Contrast paint. I did a bit more on the knight and his entourage as well as this Operatic Wide Mouthed frog from Alternative Armies.

I really had to push myself to get going, but once sat down I set to work with gusto. Now the pallette in front arrived in the post today. It is made from silicone and is for either wax melts or chocolates… I cannot remember. Anyway it had 24 indentations and is about 30cm long and 18cm wide. This is it on Amazon Here (evidently it is for wax seals). I thought it was a bit on the large size so attacked it with the scissors…

After the scissor attack.

So I am slowly getting back into painting regularly, I am really hoping that I will carry on with it. I did about 45 minutes this evening so it is do-able.

A Knight & his Entourage

This evening I got this trio cured and glued onto some bases. It was my plan to get them undercoated for painting tomorrow.

This one is going to be done in my re-enactment colours. These colours will be matched on the large shields, but the foot soldier clothing will be in random colours as befits the period.

The more astute of you will notice the lack of undercoat… I have two words ‘Effin midges.

They were so bad I actually ended up finding my net hood to go into the shed to retrieve the above. They were so numerous around the door it seemed misty.

Woah… I actually Did Something

As the title says, I actually got my arse into gear and managed to paint something… not a huge amount, but I did manage. It was really hard to get motivated. I mean I actually had to force myself to sit down… it was a definite case of Captain Procrastination this evening.

I have added a Greenstuff saddle to the bear to give the rider a bit of packing under his backside.

I also finished the ram rider, he is now ready for basing.

I got a couple of packages today, one was a paddle board and the other was my long awaited Vallejo Xpress paints… sadly I had a bit of an issue…

Luckily it was just one of the bottles of red.

This came today and I asked for Speedpaints 2.0 for my birthday on Friday so look out for a wave of painting taking place…well I hope there will be.
