Barkhoven – The Great Composer

Even though I am spending far too much time playing Fallout 76; I still managed to paint this pair this evening.

The collar was done with thr same light blue and it does make Barkhoven look like he has blue ears.

I cannot remember what the other one us, one of the civilian range from Alternative Armies, but as to the race… not a clue.

I Achieved Painting

Not the most grammatically accurate title ever, but flipping heck I got some paint on a miniature…

A down and dirty 25 minute (if that) paint job. Geek Club started again today and as our cupboard was a total mess I tidied that before starting my painting. Will it win any prizes, nope, but a finished miniature is a finished miniature.

Another Knight Finished

This evening I got this pair finished.

Bill the pony made an appearance to balance the scene up a bit. I am toying with the idea to add water slide transfers to the knight as well as the shields on the various foot soldiers.

I made a start on another pair of mounted knights as well as more foot.

The school has built a little diorama for a local festival of trees. Here is a work in progress…

I will get photos of the finished diorama tomorrow… well it better be finished tomorrow as I need to get it to the organisers tomorrow afternoon.

Swordswoman

This evening I wanted a quick win so redid this lady.

She basically is the same original colours for the tunic and breeches. I just redid them better then got the rest of her done.

I will get some flock on the base when I get a lot more miniatures done. I could have looked up what actual regiment she is from in the Flintloque world, but didn’t for two reasons. One, it is for my mate, who wasn’t that fussed and two,it is a fantasy world – I wasn’t too fussed either.

It was a nice easy miniature to paint the biggest fuss were the suspenders and even they weren’t that fussy as they are quite chunky and easy to do.

Apart from the base this was all done in Speedpaints 2.0. Oh yeah, while I remember The white bits were my rebottled GW paint from a good while ago…

A Bit of Painting

I got my finger out and finished the grave digger. I also did I wthe masked lady as well as a couple of scatter pieces.

I also used any ‘spare’ paint to get some work done on the knights. Not a huge amount, but enough to make a start.

I will hopefully crack on with the knights tomorrow.

Army Painter Awesomeness

Well as you know, I said that I had written to The Army Painter for the Geek club and that they were total dudes as they had sent the kids some Speedpaints 2.0. The kids wrote thank you letters and Peder sent us a message back . He also said he would pop us some more paint.

The kids were actually doing a happy dance when we opened the package with this lot in…

So as far as the Geek Club and I are concerned the team at Army Painter have ascended from total dudes to absolute awesome dudes of awesomeness.

So once again I want to just share their awesomeness. We aren’t YouTube influencers. We are a little school club. To these few kids they have made a huge impact.

A Massive Thank You to Army Painter

So as you know a while a go I wrote a post about the kids in the Geek Club writing to companies that I have spent a lot of money in and they basically ignored the kids.

Anyway before the summer I wrote to The Army Painter on behalf of the kids. I got a nice email back saying I should apply for a sponsorship (I cannot remember the full name). It said give as many details as I could, which I did. Basically five kids in my little school club. It said on the form that they have loads of such requests and to be honest I really thought we were maybe a bit small.

After the summer break I got an email from Peder saying they were going to send us some paints and some brushes. They duly arrived and the kids loved them. Obviously as a teacher you never miss an opportunity to get kids writing. Today we got a lovely email from Peder thanking us for the lovely letters and addressed all of the kids by name. He even said he was sending us some more paint. So according to me and the Geek Club, Peder is a totally Top bloke and The Army Painter are a totally Top Company.

I just wanted to share a positive story…

I am really happy with the Speedpaints 2.0 and after getting the set for my birthday I am probably going to try the metallics and some other colours have caught my eye.

Here is my Speedpaint knight from a couple of weeks ago.

Painting Again…

Zoggin Heck another day with paint on a brush….I must be Ill or something !

This chappy is done in Speedpaints 2.0. On this one I tried the metallic Speedpaint. It went on so nicely and sort of dried flat. However I put a wash over the metallic bits on the first knight and have actually ended up with a similar effect. I was going to dry brush them with silver anyway so no problem there.

So let’s see if I can manage three days in a row… (probably won’t pick up a brush for a month).

To be honest, I reckon the only reason I did anything today was because of Geek Club in school.

Painting Teeny Tiny Dudes

So this evening I got booted off the computer. I was busy making a camel to go with the 2mm miniatures. I also have worked on a legionary century. The auxiliaries I did did kind of work. But they need to be increased to at least 110% to match what I already have.

So I went for the Barbarian forces. With some additional buildings and siege engines.

I have done a flesh base colour for the infantry and a dark brown base for the cavalry. Once fully dried I will dry brush the riders white to allow the flesh colour to be put over the top.

The other thing is my Mug came back yesterday…

I have also been a bit busy on the other blog… every time we have been out I have done a little vlog blog… this is one of the latest ones:
