Dusty Bust

Well this evening I decided to give my One Coat paints a go on my elven witch bust. I resprayed her a good few years ago and since then she has sat in a box or on my unit.

So I thought to myself I had wondered about trying glazing. So I gave it a try earlier.

Evidently I need to dust more…

I spent more time trying to remove spiderweb  and dust than I did trying to add the paint. I would like to point out that the cat hair, or whatever it is appeared between painting and  photographing.

Starting on the Wheels

This evening I got the red onto the Chonko. Well I also got blue and black on it too.

Tomorrow I will start adding the metalwork and chipped metal (and worn metal too… eg the steps and walkways).

In my mind I have used the wrong  black for the tyres. The one here is Black Legion from Contrast… obviously had a brain fart as this is new tyre black as opposed to the grey black of the combined harvester.

Speedpaints 2.0

So instead of going to bed (I am knackered) I have been watching YouTube videos from a year ago when 2.0 came out.

What I am finding is the box has the two on it but not the bottles…

An example here:

https://youtu.be/WY3UB8WeEJY?si=rs_uj9e_BYAVcSUf

Sorry too tired to link it properly. It’s basically Peachy from the ‘Painting Phase’.

To solve the problem I am going to email Army Painter and ask them,oh and ask the sibling of the child I gave the paint to if hers has a 2.0 on it 🙂

Night, Night … off to bed I go 🙂

A Painted Machine

So this evening I decided to crack on with the walker and got on quite a long way…

Still the metalwork to do followed by the muck and rust.

No while painting these I came across a rather ‘orrible realisation.

Well if you remember ages and ages ago when I first got into Speedpaints there was a problem with reactivation. So when I got Speedpaints 2.0 I gave one of my school leavers my 1.0 with the caveat that they would reactivate. Fast forward ten months and I am painting my miniatures…. remember this painted dude in the foreground?

Well that yellow paldron kept reactivating whenever I put white over it as I decided to go with yellow. I did think it was a bit odd… This evening I may have worked out why!

Note the bottle on the left has that 2.0 visible and the one on the right doesn’t… the blue arrived last week. The red was my upgrade in the past. I am now confused… did I give my upgrades to my leaver or is the 2.0 a new thing on the bottles. I really cannot workbout how i managed it if i did…If anyone knows about the 2.0 please let me know. Since typing this, I did a bit of checking around and it would seem the first run of 2.0 were using original labels, so I did seem to have given away the 1.0. Which then begs the question…why the reactivation?

Combined Harvester Done

Well it was moral support day for my daughter. She revised and I painted. I managed to get this terrain piece finished.

I decided to go a bit mental with the rust. Well it has been sitting in the field a good while.

If truth be told I am a bit Happy with this.

I got a parcel today, six new Speedpaints and a carry case to put them in… I also decided to shove the spare bottles that i had lying around in it too. Somehow I found a lot.

I kind of thought it would have my Contrast paints in there as well as my Speedpaint metallics… so much for that plan.  To be fair some of these need to be put back into the shed as I haven’t used them un months… probably years since I used the washes.

I also got some terrain bits too…

Yeah I know I could probably find the files to print something similar or indeed actually craft it myself, but this seemed cheap so I went for it instead.

Beetle MKII

For anyone coming to see a Volkswagen… sorry!

I did some cyber snipping and reduced the original beetle down to a leg which I duly printed, along with some bomb rats… exactly as it sounds. Another nomad and a pack saddle too. A bodge job with super glue and Greenstuff and voilà a six legged beetle.

Here is the nomad and the bomb rats… oooh good name for a rock band there!

Not sure what I am going to do with the bomb rats, but I mean bomb rats… I just had to!

I also managed some painting…my son and I sat at the kitchen table and we both painted stuff.

The dwarf is from One Page Rules. The rest are Print Minis

A female space dwarf and another of the nomadic Erroish. She ended up yellow. In Fallout 76  you get to build yellow mining armour as one of the side missions… very original aren’t I. I cannot remember what colour the faction were going to be, but it certainly wasn’t yellow!

To be honest the Print Minis stuff has really kick started me painting again. Not sure why but the Spyre Hunters and the Erroish have got me going again.

Painting Little Things….

Lots of little things:

For some reason I must have thought the beetle platform was about 6 inches square rather than the inch and a half that it probably is!

Still bucket loads to follow on this lot, but it is a start.

Slow Progress on the Beetle

Yes tonight I returned to my artistic endeavours. I was a good boy and picked up a paint brush instead of a controller. I basically painted the person at the front, snapped the seat back off as I found the person wouldn’t fit where the seat had been placed. I glued said person to the seat the glued the seat into the right position.

The platform is now glued in place. Everything on it is just shoved on. The unpainted dude is probably not going to be there permanently. The original has a central pole on the platform with a tin roof. It just looked wrong to me so I am either going to make a tent type idea, shove a tarpaulin over the goods or just leave it open. I haven’t decided yet.

Remember this rider on the stenobeast… I evidently hadn’t and basically put together another one. Somehow I gave managed to print ian identical mount, body, head, left and right arm. This is with multiples of each… weird or what…

Actually subconsciously I probably built what I had before without realising it as I liked the aesthetics or something like that… probably not as weird as I made out!

Managed Some Painting

Well I made a start on a pair of the Erroish in Geek Club yesterday and managed to get them finished this evening. I also worked on the Spire big guy, and the other three for that matter

The big guy still needs the decoration done on his armour. I have decided to go for Gold as I feel this befits a super rich, nasty bully.

These are my pack beetles…

The saddles also had some failures, you can see an obvious one on the end of the front strap… Well actually it is a decorative border. But hey, either way it will get the Greenstuff  remedy.

Hopefully I will feel up to a bit more of the same tomorrow.

Painting Twins and Triplets

Well if Geek Club has one personal thing going for me, apart from the warm fuzzy feeling, then it forces me to sit down and paint for about forty minutes.

Today I managed three miniatures. Two adult males and another child.

I still need to get the bases done as well as sort out the belt buckles on the three males.

So the two males on the right and the girl in blue join the rest.

I really do enjoy painting a nice simple miniature!
