Diorama Additions

Well as you know, or maybe don’t, I am doing a Battle of the Five Armies diorama. It started long ago  with a small number of miniatures!

It started with two…

Moved to four….

Started getting silly!

I am now printing an Eagle and have another build plate full of Goblins after printing this lot off… Well Gandalf and Bilbo were there… so we’re lots of bats… it says so in the book…

My original base size is in the top photo…to be fair it was going to only be a dwarf and an elf smacking each other.

Oh and whilst organising the above printing I decided to bite the bullet and work on the Pike hands… guess what… the original designer had open hands to take metal pikes… Huzzah!

Down by the Market

As my back and lower extremities are still buggered I had to be a bit careful today. I did however manage to get the market stalls finished…

So from left to right we have a manju /mochi stall ( unfortunately the rice cakes are normally a pinkish colour)… no wonder no one has bought any of mine!) Next we have the hot sweet potato seller. The fish stall comes next and finally we have the fruit and veg seller.

I printed some road tiles at 50% original size. This was done about two years ago. They were originally for my 15mm samurai village. I stuck the road print onto the base and when it was dry I cut the bases out with a sharp blade. These were then edged by my chunky sharpie.

Now I could have done a lot more on these both base and paint wise, not to mention printing more boxes of produce. My mates birthday is today so I needed them done and dusted.

Now I learned a lot from these and will do a few things differently when I get round to doing mine… well that is if I don’t forget!

Whilst hunting for my Samurai terrain box I came across a box of miniatures, I really wished I hadn’t as the bases are blooming with white mould. I obviously forgot to take them out of the big shed and into my heated shed. I am afraid I used foul language upon opening the box. I reckon it is going to be a total rebasing for the lot of them.

Ooh What’s That

So yesterday I did a pile of printing…

It’s my mates birthday at the end of the month so I have got him some market stalls for his Monster hunting games.i sad a couple of issues, fire off, the corner of the front curled a bit. So to hide it I am going to base each one and get some ground cover up to the edge. Either that or stick a box in front of it. Second problem is the thatched roof. It is meant to come in two bits but for some reason my printer decided it was going tombow each end… easy fix… Inshall ‘build it’ in the software and print it as one piece. I will still probably mess around with greenstuff with this one… always good to have a bit of practice…

I also did some pinning of a model that I have had since the 90’s I found it in a box and decided it would be ideal for the Silver Bayonet… can you guess what it is from?

Finally I have just seen a Great value kickstarter for anyone with a 3D printer. The kickstarter is there to support the people of Kharkiv in Ukraine. You can find it Here.

Two More Goblins

Tonight I managed to get the next two goblins done. By done please read that as pretty much done… I might dirty up the armour a bit…

The toes could do with a bit of a touch up as the paint was rubbed off whilst holding the miniatures. I really need to come up with a better way to hold miniatures without a base.

Just the fallen hero to go for the miniature painting… well unless I need more goblins 😜.

BOFA Goblins

This evening I did a bit of work on a couple of the goblins.

There is still along way to go which is probably why I have a bit of a problem with them. The one with the bow doesn’t actually have surfer shorts on, it is in fact a kilt type of thing. I will crack on with them tomorrow and hopefully get them finished.

This evening I finished watching ‘All of us are Dead’. I actually really enjoyed it, although I am not ashamed to admit it … there were a few moist eye moments. I only hope to god they don’t bring out a second series and leave it where it is at.

BOFA Humans

As i said yesterday, I was a bit lacking in the human side of the battle of the five Armies. So this evening I evened things up a bit and got these two done…

Tomorrow I hope to get some work done on the Goblins.

Battle of the Five Armies

Well as you know I was going to do a small diorama with small number of printed miniatures. Problem was I was missing the men. So I added some. Problem with that is that they then outnumbered the forces of evil. So to redress the balance I printed some more.

Technically three men. One of them is having a lie down. I added some orks from various sets to add a bit of variety.

It took ages to get them to print as I reinstalled Chitubox on the PC and for some reason all the settings had changed. It just about drove me up the wall. I got there in the end though.

Diorama Miniatures Painted

Tonighti managed to get the Wolves and Goblin finished as well as pretty much do the same with the elf and dwarf…

I was going to put them on a base I already have, but I think I will make something a bit bigger.

Today was more papering, I managed another wall even though my back and legs were giving me gyp. We had to go and buy more paper as we had a change of ideas.. I think we made the right choice. I am hoping to get the rest of the lounge done tomorrow.

The Goblin and the Wolves

Last night I worked on this trio

Still some work to do on them and for some reason yhey have gone a bit shiny. Nothing a blast of matt varnish won’t cure.

Unfortunately the printer did something weird on the single wolf and although I hoped it wouldn’t be too obvious, it was.

Tonight I hope to finish these and work on the elf and the dwarf.
