A Pony, A Dwarf and a Ruffian…

Walk into a bar…. Well okay maybe not.

I managed another bit of painting this evening and got these finished.

I am quite pleased with myself as I was really not wanting to do anything. I started with the pony and as I had paint on the palette I moved onto the dwarf, ditto with him so a third miniature was done.

These were all done with Speedpaints 2.0. I had less problem with bleeding this evening… so either I am getting more used to them or I shook the pots more.

A Knight to Remember

So today I set to work on the Speedpaints knight. These paints are a lot different to the Xpress ones. Colours are fine. The biggest issue I found was that they seemed to bleed/spread into other areas.

You can see how much the yellow spread.

Now to be fair, these paints are relatively new and as such I do need to learn how to use them. I had forgotten these weren’t what I am used to so perhaps I didn’t leave them long enough. Possibly a case of “only fools blame their tools, when the skill is lacking!”

So anyway here is the glamour shot…

I had a spare shield so painted it up.

Here he is with his buddy…

So, on the left Speedpaints 2.0 and on the right Xpress paint. Have I got a favourite… I am a bit torn… but if we look at only the blue, then i would have to go Speedpaint. I am going to print some more knights and do some with Contrast and the rest in the above two.

Midge Induced Painting

This evening I was sitting in the conservatory messing on the computer. I had actually set an alarm for 21.00 but the midges had somehow got in there with me… they were a bloody nightmare so I evacuated.

I decided to do something constructive. And painting seemed constructive enough.

So I worked on the Xpress painted knight and various other miniatures I had handy to avoid wasting paint.

This is where I got to with him…

I may have gone a bit overboard with the mud along the bottom of the horse trapping. I will need to do something with the stag on the helmet as it is looking very flat.

I also need to grubby up the bottom of his tabard too.

I will get the base done tomorrow which should make it look better overall.

I shall also try something on the Speedpaint knight tomorrow.

I also have to print another one to do a Contrast knight.

Painting Again…

Zoggin Heck another day with paint on a brush….I must be Ill or something !

This chappy is done in Speedpaints 2.0. On this one I tried the metallic Speedpaint. It went on so nicely and sort of dried flat. However I put a wash over the metallic bits on the first knight and have actually ended up with a similar effect. I was going to dry brush them with silver anyway so no problem there.

So let’s see if I can manage three days in a row… (probably won’t pick up a brush for a month).

To be honest, I reckon the only reason I did anything today was because of Geek Club in school.

More Painting

Bloody Hell. I have actually managed to do some painting this evening….

I really, really, really cannot be bothered to paint at the minute so this took a lot of effort. A lot of it was belts and bridles so it took a good old bit of concentration. I really need to get back into this and stop making any excuse I can think of to avoid it.

I think that Duc de Renoir will look okay once he is finished.

I had better get back into researching heraldry as I have a feeling that there may be a fair bit in the future.

Of course I will have to do me…

I have me in 10mm and 15mm… really got to do the 28mm version sometime. Interestingly the maroon and black used above are almost an identical colour match to my soft kit.

So hopefully I will get my arse into gear and keep painting…

Blender Attempt Two

So when I got up this morning I had another try at making a human figure. Again I did this from memory and had my own internal hand holding. This is my MKIII and is an improvement on the earlier iterations.

So this took me about an hour from cube to final figure… not super fast, but so much faster than the previous versions.

Trying Blender

This evening I took a cube in Blender and ended up with the Hunchback of Nôtre D’âme…

This is the first time I have managed to do anything like this. Is it perfect, hell no… can you tell what it is meant to be… well it is meant to be humanoid so I will let you decide.

This involved no sculpting… it was using only the editing tools of move, extrude, rotate and scale. I used the mirror tool to make it symmetrical.

Am I super happy with it… no. Am I super happy with myself… yes!

This is the start. This was done by myself after watching lots of tutorials. I tried to remember what to do and am pretty chuffed that I didn’t have to go back and watch anything. My proportions are off, this will take a bit of practice to get sorted. I could add a picture in the background to help… something else to learn.

I am doing this to make making 2mm things easier.

A Bit of a Knight Mare

This evening I came up with a bit of a cunning plan to test out the XPRESS paint and Speedpaints. So as you may have seen in an earlier post I printed a knight. I now have two,..I am going to paint one in one range and another in the second range. This will give me a bit of an idea as to how they compare on larger miniatures…

So this is a start with the Xpress paint. The blue was thinned with four drops of the Vallejo Medium.

The second one will be a reverse of the above. I still have my original GW Brettonian water slide transfers.

I still have to work out how to do the quarters on the knight.

The tabard on the body is easy, these ones have the long bits covering the legs.

Teeny Tiny Camels and a Knight with a Small Head

Well after a smidge of painting the other day I decided go see how the 2mm camels I built would look printed out… to be honest I am rather chuffed, for no other reason than you can tell they are pack camels…

Highland Miniatures also released Gallia on their Patreon… I can see knights in my future:)…or maybe that should be 😦 ….I have so much to paint as it is… this mighty Knight had a bit ofca helmet failure and as such will need another doing…

I had really better get busy with my Goblins… these guys will need something to fight 🙂

Painting Teeny Tiny Dudes

So this evening I got booted off the computer. I was busy making a camel to go with the 2mm miniatures. I also have worked on a legionary century. The auxiliaries I did did kind of work. But they need to be increased to at least 110% to match what I already have.

So I went for the Barbarian forces. With some additional buildings and siege engines.

I have done a flesh base colour for the infantry and a dark brown base for the cavalry. Once fully dried I will dry brush the riders white to allow the flesh colour to be put over the top.

The other thing is my Mug came back yesterday…

I have also been a bit busy on the other blog… every time we have been out I have done a little vlog blog… this is one of the latest ones:
