Bringing out the Not so Big Big Guns

Well because I am a total sucker and project creep is evidently a thing I decided to set about doing a cult army to go alongside the Tyranids

I decides on a little mobile firepower

This is him next to the Big fella

He is missing his port weapon and exhausts. Not because they failed, because twit boy here forgot the exhaust and then printed the rockets to go on the starboard side too.

The Tyranids are all undercoated black and I have the necessary paints and brushes for the dry brush phase. If I am being honest, I am not looking forward to this.

I am going to go for a bright green body and a bone coloured carapace…well that’s this evenings thought… yesterday was bone and grey… who knows what tomorrow will bring

So it Begins

Am I Mad or what!

I now have this lot to paint. As my bases didn’t have holes in them then I cut off the pegs to nearly all of them apart from four where I felt the contact on only one spot was pushing my luck. I therefore added some Greenstuff and once dry I will add the miniatures peg and all.

These are going to be slap chopped. I have undercoated them black. I have to go into work tomorrow to rescue my grey and white paint… actually just had a thought… I have some tester pots of grey in the shed….might not have to do a 40 mile round trip now.

Going a bit Sci Fi

I have started printing stuff for my son. I have sort of persuaded him to let me print him some stuff and he can buy stuff too. He likes the Necrons and Space Marines so the poster boys are getting printed…

There is a scout on the left and a flamer on the right. The flamer Dude is missing his backpack thingy and I also shoved scout Paldrons on him too ( I will probably regret this).T

He more dynamic pose on the right makes him look a bit shorter… he isn’t really.

Oh yeah, these are two of the bases I printed :).

Second Base

Well second day of printing bases. So far I have:

36 x 25mm

10 x 32mm

10 x 50mm

5 x 40mm

1 x 90 mm

1 x 120 by something mm

Printing more 50mm right now… after I started it going I realised I wanted more 40mm.

Oh yeah, forgot the two ovals for the beetles.

To be honest I  think I am getting a bit carried away lol.

These are so satisfying, Print flat take between 45 minutes and just over an hour. No supports, no faff and, touch wood, no hassle.

It’s All About the Base…

…as the song goes. Here it is all about the bases.

25mm, 32mm, 50mm and a test oval for the beetles.

I am printing all sorts of bases for the Nid Army and for my Son’s stuff too.

Not bad an hor and twelve minutes for eighteen 25mm bases – there would have been thirty six of them, but some pillock forgot to hit go on the printer!

I also undercoated the beetle etc that I showed yesterday.

Beetle MKII

For anyone coming to see a Volkswagen… sorry!

I did some cyber snipping and reduced the original beetle down to a leg which I duly printed, along with some bomb rats… exactly as it sounds. Another nomad and a pack saddle too. A bodge job with super glue and Greenstuff and voilà a six legged beetle.

Here is the nomad and the bomb rats… oooh good name for a rock band there!

Not sure what I am going to do with the bomb rats, but I mean bomb rats… I just had to!

I also managed some painting…my son and I sat at the kitchen table and we both painted stuff.

The dwarf is from One Page Rules. The rest are Print Minis

A female space dwarf and another of the nomadic Erroish. She ended up yellow. In Fallout 76  you get to build yellow mining armour as one of the side missions… very original aren’t I. I cannot remember what colour the faction were going to be, but it certainly wasn’t yellow!

To be honest the Print Minis stuff has really kick started me painting again. Not sure why but the Spyre Hunters and the Erroish have got me going again.

Painting Little Things….

Lots of little things:

For some reason I must have thought the beetle platform was about 6 inches square rather than the inch and a half that it probably is!

Still bucket loads to follow on this lot, but it is a start.

Somewhere to Live

So I am now level 80 on Fallout 76 and in between levels i have been printing bits and pieces… this song from the game is quite appropriate to some of my bits….

Just a tumbledown shack and it’s built way back
About twenty-five feet from the railroad track
Lingers on my mind most all the time
Keeps calling me back to my little old shack.

I have had these STL’s since I got my FDM printer. This was the set that turned to spaghetti when i built the house pre printing

.

I eventually got around to printing the individual walls. The 150mm length kept failing no matter what I did. The holes at each end are designed to fit some filament to help pin it together.

I did try to build a Greenstuff leg for the second beetle… I have decided to just print one. After 45 minutes of swearing I gave up.
