Daughter’s Painting

I am rather proud of my 11 year old. She worked hard on these two today. All her own work, I gave the ideas on what to do. She is totally chuffed with them.

I can see she is going to want some more as she was very disappointed when she had finished them off.

Petrochemicoli and the Dwarf.

Latest figures finished and not some 70’s progressive rock band.

I really must sort out a way to take better photographs. Once the shed is redone I will have a painting area with a light box and better lighting.

I have got the kids painting today.

Civilian Update

I have made a start on these two. I have a bit of a conundrum with the froggy. It is basically down to the colour of his skin. On the website he is a blue colour. I am not so sure about blue, but if not, then what?  He is meant to be mega rich, so his clothes are vivid colours with gold brocade ( base colour on ready for dry brushing with shining gold then top highlight with burnished gold). The dwarf is still in a base colour stage. I will get him further tomorrow.

Orc Hussars update II

These chappies are taking forever. They, as you might imagine being Hussars, are quite intricate. I am also trying to get lots of shades etc in the different colours, I still think I am being too subtle on some of the colours. Once upon a time I would have just painted base colours then thrown a wash on. I am really liking how they look. The horses are all but done, just hooves and markings to finish.

Ostarian General.

A lovely little chap to command my Ostarian forces.

To be honest I have decided I don’t like painting white uniforms. They either look messy/bitty or flat white. Something I will have to work on.

Cheap Undercoat Paint

I had to pop into the car place and decided to give this stuff a blast. £6.00 is a lot cheaper than the £11.00 for the GW one. I stuck it in warm water and gave it a bloody good shake. I am happy with the coverage. We will see how it takes paint once dry.

Update 19.00 hrs

I tried to rub off the paint on the flanks of the horse and it wouldn’t budge.
Update….

I have done a base coat on these and the undercoat has worked fine, takes the different colours from the different paint manufacturers without a problem. The one thing I would say is that the undercoat is a little grainy, but at this scale I can’t see a problem.
