What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?
Well if I honestly had to choose a book that would make me want to head across the pond then it would have to be “The Last of the Mohicans”. Never managed it yet but it is Definitely on my bucket list to visit Fort William Henry and into the great lakes.
The film with Daniel Dat Lewis, definitely helped me want to visit more.
Maybe one day…
I love “Carry on up the Khyber” and have held that gate against the imaginary Burpa Horde.
Interesting Question… The easy answer is yes… It is one thing I think everyone should be.
There are a couple of sayings that I know of and use:
“You are never too old to learn.”
“Everyday is a school day.” In other words every day we learn something or hear something new.
So yes I am a lifelong learner and fully intend to keep on being one…I mean today I learned that my Latte I made for my wife was actually a Cappuccino and my thing I made using the remainder of the coffee and milk was actually the Latte. I rest my case!
So I suppose when I Pop my clogs and head off onto the black sands then I will learn if there is an afterwards… I just won’t be able to let you know.
Well I had a week off and was going to get much done and until this evening I achieved bugger all!
This evening I got the Skeletons and Gladiators finished apart from the bases. I will hopefully get those done tomorrow.
I also got a mini started and finished. The lass with the baby was started years ago and sat on a shelf for all that time
I got her undercoated weeks ago and tonight decided that it was time to get her finished. At the rate I was going I would be painting her Grandchildren…
The Skeleton armour has now been painted three times as it looked crap on the first couple of passes. Evidently the paint hasn’t mixed properly on the bronze and copper metallics. I went over one with a gun metal and the rest with a dark grey…. Much happier now.
For my Birthday I got more oil pastels and black paper
So back to the skies lol. Also got an Alien adjacent source book with adventure from my mate. My big present was a coffee maker… So now on the cappuccino etc…
Apologies for the cup, philistine I know!
I made one to assist with the painting and at least used a more suitable cup😜.
I would have said let’s have a guess as to whether I will get these finished tomorrow, but we all know it will probably be a no… So how long are we thinking?
Yes I actually got my finger out and did a bit of painting. Haven’t got much done as I have been knackered recently. Had plenty of FlexiTime to play with so came home this afternoon, sat on the bed and woke up three hours later.
I need to get the bases done on the miniatures but will probably wait until they are all done.
I have done a few more 10 minute scribbles too. The first one ended up looking like a forest fire.
I have got one more page left in my book of black paper… And a teeny bit of black oil pastel. I have technically got another black pad and some postcards but my fish tank had a bit of bad luck and the water visited the two art drawers…
My soft pastels became an interesting liquid slurry.
I am off next week so really want to crack on with the Five Parsecs set up. My main characters are now named and just need writing up out of my note pad.
I also want to get going with my Five Leagues adventure.
Well this evening I did a little map of the landing zone on the Planet XP926… Evidently this is going to be a military installation. Therefore I will receive 2 extra Grunts to support my endeavours.
We are touching down at the green H. The red dots are places of interest that we need to investigate.
I have 3 pre game missions to complete before I go it alone. First up the scouts have to set up a number of beacons. Secondly the scientists have to log various things and finally the troops have to defend the base from inquisitive beasties.
Yes I have achieved very little of late. I managed to come up with an idea for my Planet fall crew. I went with the suggested 2 scouts, 2 scientists and four troopers… Sort of saved me having to think.
Of the eight crew, four get bonus rolls so I went one Scout, 2 scientists and one trooper.
The one I found most interesting is the trooper… His motivation was personal achievement, prior experience came up with records deleted and his notable event was a narrow escape. Of the latter one of the ideas was left for dead. Straight away my brain went into story mode.
He was part of some mission that went belly up. Many casualties, huge cost and nothing to show for it. He survived and after his injuries healed he managed to walk again, his records and all information about that mission were classified.
Needs a bit of work, but part of me is thinking of Weland Yutani or one of the other corporations, other species out there…”is this another bug hunt?”
I did a bit of faffing about with some blue foam too…
