Missing 70 Days

Thank you to the people who answered the test post… you were so quick, by the time I had got around to checking and deleting you had answered 🙂

Anyway, the test was to see what was going on. my calendar says I have done at least 78 days in a row, WordPress says 8!

A bit miffed about that!

Building Walls

So this evening I eventually got my finger out and did a bit of wall building. Now if you remember last week I posted a picture of a weird-looking arch shape…

Well this is what they are used for….

The bit below the window is just sat there and not glued on!

you use the curved bit to accurately mark out the size of the window/door and cut these out. you then use a 3D-printed window/door to fill in the gap. The windows are a little trickier in that you have to cut the wall to meet the base of the window and then re-add it later.

Now I dropped a clanger with this test run. I grabbed some random pieces of 10mm blue foam and set to work drawing lines. obviously either it was off or I was off with a straight edge on the bottom. The set actually comes with a jig for drawing in the horizontal stone lines. I haven’t printed it yet. I am going to do it on the FDM printer to save a bit of cash.

All in all, I am quite pleased with the effect. It probably took five minutes from start to finish to get it looking like this.

WIndows and doors were one thing that I was always unhappy with. yes I can print whole buildings and I have, but I fancied a bit of scratch building again, to keep my hand in.

I will give these a proper go tomorrow and will show you the result.

Oh, and while I remember, I managed to fix both the boiler and the lights on the porch today. It turns out the boiler was overfilling as the ballcock had actually split below the waterline meaning it sat lower in the water. Thus it wasn’t shutting off the water until it went beyond the overflow. My wife was very impressed as there was no swearing at all, well apart from when I dropped the split pin and it bounced across the kitchen floor.

Arrrrggghhhh

Or Words to that effect.

I moved the bin today and got a wet hand. My first thought was that someone had kicked the dogs water. That was fine. So I opened a cupboard door and noticed the floor in there was wet too. This cupboard is directly under the water boiler. The ballcock in the header tank isn’t shutting off the water early enough so it is hitting the overflow. The thermostat is acting up. So the water is getting very hot leading to some expansion of things. This has led to the leak.

Now to be fair it isn’t pissing out but has probably been going for a while.

I will see what I can do tomorrow.

This is the next set from Goonmaster…

Weird Things

This evening I got these weird things off the printer… I am somewhat exited to use them soon.

Tune in again soon to find out how and why.

The big one is missing as some pillock forgot to refill the resin vat part way through the printing.

I ended up on Ark again this evening and then had to be Dad’s taxi so no painting achieved.

A Busy Day

Well today went past far too quickly and I suddenly realised it was 23:40. My daughter and I were playing Ark again so the dwarves managed to get this far…

I was going to start on the crossbowman as he isn’t in mail.

Mustering of the Dwarves

To be honest it is more a musterette than a full muster…

We have the next Warband I think I will paint. This has one too many miniatures. Front right are two engineers. One male and one female. I like them both so will choose once they are painted.

We have a long weekend starting today so whoopee! No work for four days then back to be only one of a few schools open in Scotland as my union is not striking.

I Hate *%#%^*% Rain!

Today our escapologist geese went to their new home. This meant catching them in torrential rain and we had a stream where there never had been one in the 15 years we have lived here… the video was taken after the goose movements.

Excuse the mess!

Bloody nightmare to say the least. I have gone through three sets of waterproofs today. I just wanted to dry a set out each time.

I did remember to sort out these cute boomerang wielding chaps…

They are so cute… I also printed out some random bits for me to paint…

One of the dwarves is going to become my engineer for the Mordheim dwarf warband. The last thing to print were my planks…

We have now got 50mph winds to help the rain along.
