Anyway this evening I got the trousers painted on the pike block.
I would have got more done but ended up with both hands cramping up…bloody annoying!
I aim to get more done tomorrow…
These were done with yellow, blue, green and a turquoise. These colours will be used throughout the force, with additions of colour to allow things to sort of match in. Yes they all have a red coat, but I don’t want to do hundreds of different colours.
Wellll I was painting some more of the Florentine Mercenary forces…
That is all of the troops with a red coat.
I suspect we don’t know what they actually wore, but in my mind if you are employing a lot of well paid people to fight your battles then I suppose you want people to know who the money is coming from. Secondly when push comes to shove it is helpful to know who not to poke with a pointy thing and finally in other earlier conflicts the use of a jack or tabard was used to denote allegiance. Not exactly perfect, but they are mine and as the (at the present) Florentine Doge then I have decreed a uniform of sorts.
The trousers are going to be various colours to give a less uniform look… But knowing me I won’t be able to help myself and will sort of make a unified look on the lower body.
What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?
Well if I honestly had to choose a book that would make me want to head across the pond then it would have to be “The Last of the Mohicans”. Never managed it yet but it is Definitely on my bucket list to visit Fort William Henry and into the great lakes.
The film with Daniel Dat Lewis, definitely helped me want to visit more.
Maybe one day…
I love “Carry on up the Khyber” and have held that gate against the imaginary Burpa Horde.
Well I got some painting done today whilst doing some online training… It was either that or fall asleep…
Well I based these about two months ago, so thought I had better pull my finger out.
I decided that these are going to have a maroon/red coat. Any bicolour bits are going to be the three feathers on the helmet. I really, really couldn’t be bothered with slashed doublets.
Interesting Question… The easy answer is yes… It is one thing I think everyone should be.
There are a couple of sayings that I know of and use:
“You are never too old to learn.”
“Everyday is a school day.” In other words every day we learn something or hear something new.
So yes I am a lifelong learner and fully intend to keep on being one…I mean today I learned that my Latte I made for my wife was actually a Cappuccino and my thing I made using the remainder of the coffee and milk was actually the Latte. I rest my case!
So I suppose when I Pop my clogs and head off onto the black sands then I will learn if there is an afterwards… I just won’t be able to let you know.
Well I had a week off and was going to get much done and until this evening I achieved bugger all!
This evening I got the Skeletons and Gladiators finished apart from the bases. I will hopefully get those done tomorrow.
I also got a mini started and finished. The lass with the baby was started years ago and sat on a shelf for all that time
I got her undercoated weeks ago and tonight decided that it was time to get her finished. At the rate I was going I would be painting her Grandchildren…
The Skeleton armour has now been painted three times as it looked crap on the first couple of passes. Evidently the paint hasn’t mixed properly on the bronze and copper metallics. I went over one with a gun metal and the rest with a dark grey…. Much happier now.
For my Birthday I got more oil pastels and black paper
So back to the skies lol. Also got an Alien adjacent source book with adventure from my mate. My big present was a coffee maker… So now on the cappuccino etc…
Apologies for the cup, philistine I know!
I made one to assist with the painting and at least used a more suitable cup😜.
I would have said let’s have a guess as to whether I will get these finished tomorrow, but we all know it will probably be a no… So how long are we thinking?
