Well okay, maybe enlarged heads would be a better description…

After spending ages making my own naff bottle toppers, I found these free ones… the idea is to paint these in the colour in the bottle. This will show the true colour on a model. I have twenty four of these and another twenty four ork heads for my Vallejo Xpress colours.

These are fastened on with Greenstuff. I hope to get them painted tomorrow.

  1. HMMMM….that’s a really cool idea! I usually dab some white paint on the tip of a new bottle, and then paint that. But it doesn’t always give me a good idea of how the paint will apply on a mini. I’m using tiles and a grid sheet for that, but this allows you to keep the example right with the bottle.

  2. This scratches two itches at once. The first being how to quickly identify what actual shade the speedpaint will end-up looking like on a textured bit; and that nagging feeling like I should crack open the piggy bank and pick-up a resin printer on sale during Prime week!

    1. To be honest I did think about getting a second one with a bigger plate, but then cancelled the idea as I don’t really need one. My Elegoo Mars is still going strong. I may need to replace the screen sometime, as I did scratch it a few times getting resin off it.

      1. For me, it’s been more a combination of factors: how much printing will I really do, the nastiness of resin, spills, fumes, etc. Then there is the cost.
I think all of that may be negated if I can get good scale detail that a filament machine can’t deliver. I’ve got two more days to decide, but in the running is the new Saturn 12k, it’s really hard to not pass up the Printer, some Resin and the cure/wash station delivered to mt front door for a shade over $600!

  3. Which one are you thinking about buying?! I just checked out them out and there are some nice deals. Unfortunately, we just spent a bunch of money this month.
