Undead Line III

These are getting there really slowly.

next stage is to get the strapping whitened back up and get the shako accouterments sorted then onto the muskets and metalwork. I am still undecided what colour to do the button and plume.

The vampire and Liche need a fair bit of work too so I think I will be busy tonight. I want them finished by tomorrow

Undead further work

Slowly getting there. The white on the white really looks naff. I am at the point of painting where the figures look like nothing at all. They look messy, which to be fair they are.  I will run a wash over the strapping and then highlight with a pure white. Also give the beards a dark wash to lose the big blob of white.

Hopefully I will get them finished tomorrow.

Undead Line Infantry

I managed to get a little bit done at lunchtime today, I will have to crack on to try and get these finished tonight.

Cuffs, collars and epaulettes are going to be red just to help match them into the rest already done. These are the only ones with a greatcoat on so it will help give some form of continuity across the different units.

Random Musings

Having got a couple of awesome bargains off eBay recently I thought I would share my two pennothworth.

The stuff I got was a bargain in every sense of the word. I basically paid less than unpaintedprice for a good paint job and an excellent paint job. I really cant complain. I do like painting my own but for the price of £1 per figure then it was a non brainier.  However some of the Ebay prices are silly, do people not even look at the original price on the websites. Take a figure for Flintloque. A KGL trooper on Alternative armies sitting at £5.00 jump to eBay same figure £8.99 with £2.30 postage. Now some of the rare figures are going for silly money…well they are rare, but charging £12.00 for something still available from Alternative armies for £4.00 is really taking the pee a bit.

Strangely enough some of the expensive stuff are on for 28 days at a time (I have seen them for over 6 months)…someone is obviously an optimist why pay £!8 when you can buy it on eBay for £30.

I shall no doubt keep perusing to see if anymore bargains pop up. A huge orc collection went a few weeks ago for about £70 strangely enough an awful lot of £9.99 blister packs have appeared, but again the same would cost £6-8 and are still available from Alternative Armies. Not dissing anyone for an entrepreneurial spirit in the slightest, but it does just make me wonder how it all works.

Undead, Civilians and Outlaws

Well after a brief foray into animal husbandry I am back onto my Flintloque collection.

We have 8 undead, 6 Zombie Line infantry in greatcoats, a Liche and a Vampire, the infantry are going into Brown greatcoats and will join the forces already painted. The vampire as befits his status will be rather swanky and the Liche, the bog standard sombre colours of his uniform.

The three figures are from the 54050 Valon civillian set, I have already done the gnome, but here we have an orc in a greatcoat, another orc in a furry jacket and a rather nasty looking knife and what looks like a bloodhound with a blunderbuss. The last two are LE027 Pluncorc & MacMean.

I made a start on the greatcoats at lunchtime today and will crack on later. I feel a bit of research is required to see what colours to do the cuffs and collars.

All Creatures Great and Small

Had a diversion from Flintloque today at Lunchtime. Today I decided to get some of my animals finished. I have managed to finish the wolf and the Iron Age pigs and nearly got the Jacob’s sheep finished too.

Still got to get the bases sorted and magnets inserted. Job for this evening.

Undead lancer

I thought I had better finish off my last lancer.  Shouldn’t really take that long. The problem that I am having is that the colours seem a bit brighter than the original. This could be because I undercoated in a different colour or added different washes to darken it down. We shall have to see what happens as I go along. That is the problem with painting part of a range almost a year after the first ones.

To be fair I only had three to start with, but still I did the newer figures I got first, rather than finishing off.

I do like these figures, basically as I played around as a Polish lancer and also I do like the static pose. Waiting for the order to charge. Although these are the Liteupski lancers, I went for a more Russian Green look. I painted up some other for a mate as a Polich lancer unit, so decided mine would be different. These four troopers are the bodyguard for my mounted vampire or mounted Liche.

Although I am trying to get through civilians from every country, I do really like the undead, which to be fair I think I have at least equal to the Ferach forces (simply because I had three of the Sharke’s rifles sets, so there are 30 straight off). Because I don’t have any Witchlabnds Ferach, my plan is that a force of undead have invaded South meaning that I can fight without the need for woolly blankets and fur jackets.

I still haven’t decided what to do with the Dark Elf Guerillas… I probably wont have anything else from Cattaluccia, apart from the Inquisitor. A conundrum I shall have to work my way through.
