Fifty Shades of Horse

Well OK… Twenty four  shades of Horse.

So that is all of the Horse skin done, still the hooves and manes/tails to go. For some reason one of them has gone a bit blue. I will put a grey wash over it tomorrow and see if that  helps.

The command section still needs to be undercoated.

I had a cunning plan yesterday, I still have enough knight parts for six more heavies. They just need horses. I can get six mounts as separate sprues from Perry Miniatures, but as I supported Wargames Atlantic think there are some suitable horses I could print….Time to head to the Computer!

The Whole Force

Well okay there are technically three forces and some interlopers!

So on the left we have the Hundred Years War English and on the left the Hundred Years War French. Both boxes have Wars of the Roses cavalry, heavy in the left and light in the right. The English box also has Aragorn leading a detachment of rangers…

Sadly I didn’t have time to flock everything this evening.

We will be playing Lion Rampant tomorrow.

While I was looking for this lot I came across my original dwarf from Heroquest… I had even painted him, sadly forgot the base though!

Next to him is an original goblin I think. I am sure the Advanced Heroquest had a shield.

All Done

Well that is the eighteen infantry and six cavalry painted. It was a bit of a rush job, but I got there this evening. As I said yesterday, they won’t win any prizes, but they are done apart from the bases. I will get those done tomorrow.

So here they are with the paint still wet…

I am just hoping that the ones in the shed that I think are done are actually finished. I will find out tomorrow.

I would have done it this evening, but I am knackered and really cannot be bothered.

I will add them all together and see what they look like. I know the crossbow men are in a specific livery, I think I have some liveried spears too.

Panicked Painting Progress.

Well I eventually got started on the pile of plastic for Saturday. Six mounts and six infantry finished.

My son worked hard on the mounted gendarme on the right too.

So that leaves me with twelve foot and six cavalrymen to do.

Will mine win any prizes- nope but they are getting done and that is all I want.

I have actually got some Agincourt mounted knights in a shopping cart somewhere, I just have to remember which site I was on!

Loreil Softvale

Well I worked on the  druid this evening. I managed to get paint in various places that it shouldn’t be. A couple of them will be hidden when I paint the bits. The absolute sod is that I got it under her chin!

You can see the green on her chin and also a khaki colour on the top of her head. Extremely miffed by my incompetence.

As you can see I decided on a more autumnal look for the leaves.

Starting on the Druid

This evening I decided I had better get my finger out and make a start on Loreil Softvale.  I went for a ‘dwarf skin’ colour this time  as opposed to the ‘crusader skin’ I used on Mizzi

I also got Grace the Pirate cured and here she is in all her glory.

As the great, late Frankie Howard said in Up Pompei…”don’t point those at me dear, they may go off!”

Now I have definitely had a problem with this print as there is a ‘scar’ above her right eye and I must have missed a support under her right arm as there was a little damage there too.

To be brutally honest I should have oriented her in a different way on the build plate as the supports have left some damage on her chin. Nothing a bit of sanding wouldn’t solve, but annoying anyway.

And more Mizzy

Well Mizzy is getting closer to being finished and spartan from the stress of ghe eyes then I have thoroughly enjoyed doing her. This to me is a bit of a shock as I was a ‘whole army painted in a week and sod the mistakes’ kind of Painter. She has actually forced me to slow down. Is she perfect and error free, heck no. This is definitely a case of the journey matching the destination. The main thing for me is I am happy with her.

Darkened hair…

I am trying to work out whether to do one more coat on the main bit of her hair or not. If I don’t then it is just the eyebrows, glass and metal to do.

I have downloaded two more of these from Miniatures of Madness. I have the pirate I showed and now there is also Agatha the Warlock to join the team.

So in total three of this range to paint. As the Druid is undercoated I may do her next.

Mizzy has Hair

I managed to get some time with Mizzy this evening and decided it was time for her hair.

I am going for a blue-black using Vallejo’s ‘Lotus Black’ Xpress.

I also did a bit on the eight Moria (Hobbit) goblins. These have been sat unfinished for about a year and a half. I still hate the Hobbit film and their updated Goblins, but these are actually going to be used for Silver Bayonet.

Stress Central

Well I worked some more on Mizzy this evening  and I can honestly say that it was the most stressful painting session ever!

As you can see, I achieved eyes. I now need to lie down in a darkened room. I was shaking like a sheep shitting razor blades!

I deliberately chose blue as her eyeliner. I originally was going to go for black. As her hair is going to be a dark colour then I wanted something brighter.
