Pretty Colours

Flippin’ heck I achieved more painting this evening and got the Spyre Gang up to the shiny gold decorations.

There is still stuff to do on these, well I want to do more on the, but if I wanted to I could call these done.

I am seriously thinking of just using my gold Sharpie to make them shiny 🪙🪙🪙🪙.

I may of course may change my mind 😉.

Managed Some Painting

Well I made a start on a pair of the Erroish in Geek Club yesterday and managed to get them finished this evening. I also worked on the Spire big guy, and the other three for that matter

The big guy still needs the decoration done on his armour. I have decided to go for Gold as I feel this befits a super rich, nasty bully.

These are my pack beetles…

The saddles also had some failures, you can see an obvious one on the end of the front strap… Well actually it is a decorative border. But hey, either way it will get the Greenstuff  remedy.

Hopefully I will feel up to a bit more of the same tomorrow.

A Bit More Work

So this evening I worked on my Spyre Hunters.

The dude on the left as you may have noticed is not  futuristic hunter. He is a rat piper for my mate. He does have a tartan kilt, but to be honest I chose colours that were too dark so you cannot really see it.

I also added the big dude onto the newly printed base. I have also gone a bit daft and printed a couple of Desert gangers and some alien fauna. Well I didn’t just want to print a base on its own.

A Bit of Painting

Well I actually managed to get a tiny bit of painting done this evening.

I went for the unbased one to begin with.  He is going to have either red or yellow on the chest and knees.

The other two miniatures are for my youngest.  These two were the ones that failed yesterday. I did a plate re level and it worked fine second time around.

Out of the Painting Doldrums?

Well I seem to be in a bit of painting hole  at the minute. I really cannot be bothered to paint anything. This tiredness/pain thing is annoying in the extreme, so it makes motivation a bit hard.

However I found a set of miniatures that I am interested in actually painting. I remember having the full Spyre gang for Necromunda. I decided to try these from Print Miniatures.

For these I actually unboxed the new printer.

Because I am a pillock  I stuck three of the miniatures onto the wrong bases, it really only affects the one on the extreme left. She is leaping at an extreme angle. If you notice there is one of them on cardboard. This is because his base failed on the printer. Hopefully this is simple teething problem… however I tried a new print for my youngest and it failed.

Printers and Self Inflicted Wounds.

Today I set up the filament printer to print my son something for part of his Christmas present.

Self levelling bed and faster print speeds was a very nice bonus. Okay I printed at 0.2mm but instead of one bit and an IOU I got the whole thing done… even with a power outage and the aforementioned wound!

So I decided to use tree supports on my first attempt… one of them got knocked off somehow. So I stopped the print and foolishly decided to use a blade instead of a scraper to remove the supports that did adhere really well. Somehow my blade hand actually came back towards me, maybe a ricochet off a support, not actually sure… long story short…

What you can’t see in the photo is the fact it is straight across to the other side of my thumb too… I tried slicing that bit off!

So guess who felt like a right pillock!

Jean D’Arc

Well sort of…

Not really much done. I was going to undercoat the militia, but it was torrential rain and strong winds so there was no way I was going to go into the shed… wimp that I am!

I painted both flags in the same blue. This was with Army Painter standard acrylic. Some shading and highlighting will be required.

Oh yeah I painted the green on the knight too.

Hopefully I can carry on tomorrow.

Knights and Pumpkins

I carried on with the Knights and foot soldiers this evening. I just need to get the bases painted on the foot below. I have to finish Joan D’arc and make a start on another mounted knight and another banner bearer on foot,

I also got this lot done for my mate…

I still have to do the stems and then get them based up.

For these pumpkins I went outside my usual method and sprayed these black, dry brushed them white then added the orange. I actually did something different to my usual… I won’t be doing this regularly though.

In other news my new filament printer arrived today.

Something Achieved

This evening I forced myself to paint something. I am really not in the mood at the minute. Ongoing health problems mean I am knackered and then I have had this flu thing…

But this evening I went for it 🙂

Mr Dwarf was picked up and added to the part painted pile. He is nearly finished… it has only taken me about ten months so far.

Hopefully I will keep the momentum going tomorrow.

A Bit of a Printer Issue

So yesterday I said that I had ordered new printers. This is one of the reasons why.

I printed twelve pumpkins for my mate…

Now the more mathematically aware of you may reason that either I am really crap at counting or that there may have been some issues with the print.

In fact I printed them twice, I actually turned the Vat around to see if it was the FEP. Funnily enough I got the same number second time around.

Both times I lost five of them. I used heavy supports and printed at an angle, but still had failures.

I also had some weird extrusions too…

So as these are the same two in the foreground it may be that particular model. I have two of the larger ones and the one not shown is fine.

If you look at the mounted one below, they have a failed sword, I have had to print numerous heads and shields for the knights too.

I will have a proper check of the machine to see what may be the cause. But I am getting about 25% of the build plate that fails about 75% of the time.
